Ch 149's. Waiting to wake up

Claude felt himself confined in a very small room. There is no light and no door that can take him out of darkness and uncertainty. He tried to catch his breath from earlier. It was as if helplessness had started killing him slowly.

Claude hates not being able to do anything for the girl he loves. He refused to think that Catty would leave him. Catty will definitely fight to return. And this time, if they were together again, Claude wouldn't let time go for a second.

Claude also felt a dam of tears that could not come out of both of his eyeballs. His eyes hurt. He won't cry. Cattynya will return.

There was a hint of hesitation that slipped into Claude's heart as he reminisced about how Catalina's body was silent in his arms back then. The color of the blood soaking into Catalina's face and hair continued to be overshadowed by it. But he brushed off the taste, pressing and trampling it in his heart to get buried.

After almost hours had passed, which felt like dozens of hours by Claude, the door of the operating room was finally opened. Claude stood straight when a man came out. So did Mary, Annete and Joanna. Vincent, Alric and Simon also walked over.

The man turned out to be Luigi. The man took off the glasses he was wearing, a smile he tried to paint on his tired face. But failed completely.

"Claude" said Luigi.

"Luigi .. say ..." said Claude hoarsely. He moved closer to the doctor.

"I'm sorry before. I insist on replacing my friend who should have told you here. But he understands. He allowed me to know I knew family ...."

"Luigi .. miss that! Catty's! How's Catty!" Claude half yelled at Luigi. His voice was full of fear and worry.

A smile could now form on Luigi's face. The fuss on Claude's face apparently made the muscles on his face able to move his lips to form a smile.

"Our neurosurgeon got rid of the bleeding that occurred in Lina's brain due to the violent impact of the accident. The operation was successful and Catalina's condition was stable. Now he is ready to be moved. We just have to wait for him to wake up. I've prepared a special room with full equipment for him."

With Luigi's news coming to an end, Claude was left behind. It was as if his two legs that were trembling from earlier were already unable to support.

"Claude!" Alric who was standing behind the man immediately caught his body. Simon also caught his brother's arm. Then the two men brought Claude back to the seat.

"Claude .. "call Luigi. He waited until Claude, who was in the chair, looked at him.

"Yes?" answer Claude slowly.

"Catalina will be fine .. don't worry." Luigi gave her smile again. A sincere smile that rose from his heart at the most. Now he is absolutely convinced Catalina is in the most appropriate port. The head of the Bernard family loved Lina very much.

Claude's head nodded. "Thank you, Luigi ...."

"Either. I'll be back." Luigi pointed inward. " Supply ... Catalina's going out in a minute. But you may not be able to get everything into the treatment room later," he said.

All those heads nodded. One by one they were relieved to hear the news Luigi brought. Afterwards, Luigi went back inside and the door closed again. Claude was seen rubbing his face, feeling the breath he was breathing now just felt relief, not making it narrow and making his chest pain like before.

Claude and Mary stand in front of the glass door of Catalina's treatment room. A room prepared by Luigi. A doctor and a nurse were inside. Claude waited patiently until he was allowed to enter. Her other family was waiting on the sofa in the waiting room not far from the front door of Catalina's treatment room.

After a while, the doctor and nurse came out of the treatment room. With a soothing smile the doctor reached out the hand that Claude immediately greeted.

"You're Claude Bernard, aren't you?" guess the doctor. Claude just nodded. The doctor is young. Maybe a few years above the age of Dr. Luigi.

"Luigi told me. You're the girl's fiancee" the doctor said again. Claude nodded his head.

"And you ... Mrs?" the doctor turned to Marylin.

"I'm her brother, Doc."

The doctor nodded while still smiling.

"Miss Catalina is in stable condition. You can get in. But I suggest alternating. Let the patient rest. And you too .. you must rest. You've been waiting for hours, haven't you?"

Claude and Marylin just nodded, muttering thanks.

"Come on Claude ...." Mary told Claude first. He knew the man needed it. The man needs to make sure his girlfriend is okay.

Claude nodded and immediately entered. He came closer to the hospital bed. Look at the bandage that wrapped Catalina's head. The girl's beautiful hair had already disappeared. Claude knew that, behind the bandage that wrapped Catalina's head, the girl's entire hair had been shaved before her head surgery.

One by one Claude's eyes examined Catalina's body, he peeked under the blanket, then saw the girl's hand lying on the bed. Claude sat down after pulling out a chair that was near the bed. With trembling hands, he clasped Catalina's palm. The hand was warm, then his eyes counted Catalina's chest movements, making sure the girl was breathing. Regular breathing and rhythmic chest movements. The sight brought great relief to Claude's heart. But he remained worried, because his Catty had not opened his eyes at all.

"Cat .. I'm here .. wake up, honey."

Minutes passed, only the sound of the monitor beside Catalina's bed could be heard filling the void and silence of the room. Claude stared unblinkingly at Catalina's face. I hope that both eyes open. His hand gently squeezed the palm of the girl.

Then the door opens. Mary appeared with a pale and worried face.

"Sorry Claude. Would you like to take turns? I'm ...."

"Yes ... Comeoverhere. I'm sorry.. You must also be dying to see it."

Claude slowly stood up. Not realizing he had sat for almost half an hour just looking at his bruised lover. He let Mary get closer. Give Mary time to be with her sister.

"Please take care of Catty, Mary. I ... I want to find a coffee for a while. Call me if he realizes."

Mary nodded. He looked into Claude's red eyes and looked very tired. He also felt his legs tense and painful from standing up too much. But he didn't say it. Because if he says it, then Alric will force him to go home.

"Lina .. wake up .. I've been crying a lot. Why am I so easy to cry? Oh my god .. You must have been in pain .. your foot used to be .. now your head ... Lena ...."

Mary held out her hand, for a few moments holding her sister's hand which felt warm under the blanket.

"Luigi said you'd be okay .. The doctor said so ... But why are you still sleeping? "

Mary wiped her face again with Alric's moist handkerchief.

"I want to talk about something weird with you. You're good at guessing and your guesses are usually right."

Mary's voice was very slow, as if she wanted to tell a story without disturbing Catalina. But she needs to talk to her sister, act like Catalina's just asleep and they're not in the hospital.

"May I sleep with you here, Lina?"

There's no answer. Mary did not expect it.

"You know ...the weird thing I wanted to tell you? I heard Alric calling Ann 'Mom' .. That means something right? But ... oh, I don't know ..oh, yeah .. me and Alric .. we ummm.. I don't think you want to hear me tell you shit about me ... what about Leon? He will definitely be very agitated .. he won't be able to see you for days ...."

Marylin glanced at the monitor beside Catalina's bed.

"The sound doesn't bother you? If you fall asleep, you're not sick, you'll wake up hearing the sound from the monitor, right?" Mary took a deep breath, "When are you gonna wake up?"

After talking jumping from one thing to another, Mary fell silent for a long time, looking only at Catalina's regular chest movements, as if they were telling Mary that her sister was still there with her. Although his voice could not be heard and his eyes could not open.

Someone's voice from the glass door called out to Mary.

"Bueh ... Darling?"

Marylin turned her head, looking at Alric there. Looks tangled with a tie that has been slightly tilted.

Mary got up, Closer to the barren steps towards Alric. They walked out of Catalina's room and stood in front of the glass door. Alric immediately took off the suit he was wearing and closed it to his wife's shoulder.

"How's Lina?"

"He's like a sleeping man."

Alric smiled, then realized Mary looked very tired.

"Mary, how about we go home first?"

"No ...."

"Mary ...." Alric was confused as to how to persuade his wife. She saw Mary step out in a very tired step.

"Bueh ... Alric's right. Remember ... This is not about you alone .. but also your baby. You can't be tired." A voice that came to them made the husband and wife look over. Apparently doctor Luigi's coming. Claude stepped beside the doctor.

"Lina will be conscious in a moment. We intentionally put him to sleep. But he'll wake up later. In the meantime, you go home and get some rest..Remember your health and the baby. Your legs are tired, aren't they?" ask Luigi.

Mary frowned, where did Luigi know?

"Your legs are getting swollen, Mary. You stand up too much. Now go home." added Luigi.

"Yes, Mary. Go home. I'll keep watch. I promise I'll call you if anything happens" Claude said. Mary stared alternately at Luigi and Claude, then she looked at Alric who looked back at her with a worried look.

"Oh, okay ..." Mary turned back to the glass door. Staring once again at his sister who was lying in bed.

Alric was very relieved to hear his wife's reply. He felt grateful to the two men for successfully making Mary want to be invited home. Finally Mary steps with Alric to the couch where Bernard and Annete's family are waiting.

"Mary ... go home .. rest. Claude and Simon will be standing guard here." Joanna grabbed the woman. Mary nodded slowly. They shared a hug for a moment before finally separating. Then Annete came and took his hand.

"Let's Honey. Tomorrow we come here again" said Annete. Mary just nodded. One by one they left the room. Leaving Claude and Luigi who had entered back into Catalina's treatment room and leaving Simon sitting on the sofa and waiting.
