Catelul Iuliei Hasdeu, which is the place where urban legends about Iulia Hasdeu circulate, actually originated from the sad story behind the construction of this palace. Iulia Hasdeu is the daughter of writer, psychologist, historian, and politician Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu. Born on November 14, 1869, Iulia was an intelligent daughter. Since childhood he has been good at writing, even at the age of 8 years he has written about Mihai Viteazu – one of the national heroes of Romania – and mastered French, English, and German. At the age of 11, he graduated from high school for the first time. Iulia Hasdeu is also the only Romanian woman to study at the University of La Sorbonne in France. Iulia Hasdeu is known for her works of art in the form of writing, poetry, and some prose. He is also very happy with the foreign language, playing the piano and canto – it's all he learned himself. But at the age of 18, Iulia suffered from TB (tuberculosis) and made her have to die from the disease, at a very young age.
Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, his father who loved his daughter so much, felt so lost with the death of his son. Deep sorrow, life B. P. Hasdeu then slowly transformed from a politician and historian into a spiritual practitioner. He did it himself in order to keep in touch with Iulia, his favorite daughter. The form of a father's love for his son, then pushed B. P. Hasdeu built a palace for his daughter, and named it Castelul Iuliei Hasdeu – Iulia Hasdeu Palace.
After death, B. P. Hasdeu, Iulia Hasdeu Palace was then transformed into a haunted building filled with Hasdeu family legends. Some people say seeing the appearance of a young female ghost who is believed to be the spirit of Lulia Hasdeu around the palace grounds. She often appears wearing her white dress and a bouquet of Daisy flowers in her hands. That said, if you pass through the palace at night – even in every night – you will hear the ghost of Lulia playing her piano, inside the uninhabited palace. Some say that the spirit B. P. Hasdeu, Lulia's father is often seen in some corners of her building and conversing with her daughter. The spirit of B. P. Hasdeu and his beloved daughter, Lulia, show a deep love from parents to their child who has no boundaries whatsoever.
Iulia Hasdeu Palace is also a picture of how the loss of a loved one can destroy or change the fate of someone who is still alive or abandoned.
