The blue sky had turned pitch-black as the stars and moon chose to hide behind the clouds. Dark without bright light, maybe that's the condition of nature that describes how the figure of a man locked himself in his room. That man is none other than Benny. Since the incident last afternoon that made his son just moody all day, Benny felt frustrated, because Elza did not want to talk or meet him.
"Why is my life getting so fucked up!" benny said while massaging the base of his nose.
There is a great guilt in me when I remember the incident that made Elza angry. He cursed his stupidity for being so careless in this house. The sophisticated mobile phone of the widower continued to ring and there was only one name that had tried to contact him but was ignored. Renate.
"I'd better get some sleep" he murmured after activating the silence mode on his phone.
The timer was still at eleven in the evening, but Benny began to close his eyelids to go to bed early. Maybe, it's good he rested a body that feels tired. He hopes there is happiness in tomorrow, by seeing the sweet smile of the baby.
Seconds and seconds passed, bringing time to one third of the night. The silence of nature made everyone feel comfortable and sleep well, but Benny had to open his eyelids when he felt someone pat his arm a few times.
"Mas, Mum ... Benny, wake up!" There was the sweet voice of a woman who was very familiar in the sense of hearing of the owner of the nameβBennyβhe opened her eyelids and was immediately stunned from the bed when she saw who woke up in the middle of the night like this.
"Nurma! You ...." Benny felt out of words when he saw the beautiful figure who had his heart all this time.
"Yes, it's me .. your wife, Mas," said the beautiful woman with a sweet smile, "I just came to pick Elza up to come with me." Nurma looked at Benny with a sad look.
"Don't! Don't take Elza anywhere! He has to stay with me!" sergeant Benny firmly.
"You're sure she's okay with you, Mom?" ask the beautiful woman.
"certain. I'm fulfilling all the needs that make her happy, honey." Benny tried to grab his wife's hand, but the master turned away, "please don't take Elza away from me for our love, Nurma," Benny said expectantly.
"You're sure Mas if you still love me?" the beautiful woman asked with a sweet smile.
"certain. I love you so much and you know it." Benny insisted without taking his eyes off his wife's face.
"If you love me, you won't do this to Elza. You know, Mas. Elza is the fruit of our love. There's my blood and yours running through our son's body. Elza's happiness is the same as mine because I'm in her body. I am in every breath of our son, but you are not aware of it. You never give Elza affection, you just meet her needs. Then how can you say that you love me while you ignore our son." Nurmala shed her tears.
"No, Nurma. Nah! I love Elza so much. I had a good time just to forget my big longing for you. Every time I was near Elza, I was devastated to remember how we were together. I feel guilty for not being able to provide the best care for you so Elza has to lose you." Benny was bowed with tears rushing from the eye patch.
"You shouldn't be like that, Mom. You ignore Elza too much when you have fun with your world. I don't think you know what happened to our son. Perhaps even, you do not know that Elza can make the holy verses of the Qur'an that make me feel calm and peaceful." The beautiful woman also shed tears.
"Your heart is blinded by love and pain. So you don't know if in this house there is a bright light that can shine in your way and Elza. But you prefer a darkness that can mislead your way and make you forget our baby." said Nurmala before rising from her place.
"Nurma! Nurma! Don't go!" benny shouted as he jumped down from his bed to fall to the floor.
"Aaw!" screeched the handsome widower as he felt pain in his arm. He immediately opened his eyelids wide after feeling the coldness of the room floor.
The handsome widower's eyeballs moved left and right to observe the state of his room. There's no one there. Sweat sweat ran through his body even though the AC temperature in the room was quite cold. He immediately changed his position to sit on the floor while observing the circumstances around.
"It turned out to be just a dream," Benny murmured as he rubbed his wet cheeks, "why all my talk with Nurma seemed real. I really like meeting him" he continued in a soft voice.
Benny got up from his place and he sat on the edge of the bed remembering the messages conveyed by his wife. There was a pain that struck the heart as it recalled how Nurmala was venting her grief.
"Oh my God, what else is this!" Benny massaged the base of his nose.
"What does bright light mean by that? I don't understand" Benny muttered after recalling the message delivered by his wife.
Benny stayed there for a few minutes. He tries to understand himself and the message conveyed by Nurmala. He felt slapped by reality, because it was true, he was ignoring his son too much. What the handsome widower is doing is just a mask to hide the sadness that is still in him since the departure of Nurmala a few years ago. Being near Elza for too long makes him sad because every look at the eyes of the son alone wayangnya, the same as looking into the eyes of Nurmala.
"All the women who are present after you are gone are but a stopover to quench this thirst of the body, Nurma. My love is still the same for you. I tried to forget all our memories, but I couldn't. The women who have stopped by in my life can't wipe your face from my memory. I wanted to start a new page with another woman, but it felt really hard because our son was blocking my steps." Benny let out his heart in the quiet room.
Benny stayed in the room for a long time until thirst hit his throat. He forgot to bring water before going to bed. Every day there is a glass of water on the nightstand. The handsome man decided to get out of the room and go down one by one stairs until he reached the family room. Benny frowned when he saw a woman struggling in the kitchen. The woman's long hair was beautifully cut.
"Who is he? Why does it look like Nurma from behind? Am I dreaming again?" benny muttered while observing the figure in the kitchen.
