45. Honest Confession

"OKAY. I'm horrifying you. But fast yes. I want to pack my clothes. Afraid of leaving for work." Kalula replied calmly.

The girl's hand was placed sweetly on the table. The breakfast that stayed some bribes he put on the plate as well. Kalula is so sweet, under whatever circumstances it is.

Edward took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He wanted to get rid of the nervousness that was ambushing him.

"Kal, I didn't mean to lie before. When I first met you, I was auditing at the cafe. Yeah, I own the cafe where you work. But somehow my instincts to get to know you are making me admit that I'm a barista there."

The first confession came out of Edward's nervous lips.

Kalula nodded slowly. Yeah, he already suspected this.

Edward was confused. He thought Kalula's response would be shocked or angry at being lied to. But Kalula seems ordinary.

"Yes, I know. I just realized yesterday. Mr. Dika always ducking scared every time he talked to you. I should have realized this awkwardness from the beginning. But you know for yourself since working at the cafe I feel like half a life. My mind is not focused because of a lot of problems. Huh huh? You wanna talk about that? Anything else?" Kalula still looks that calm.

Edward seemed calm but in his heart and mind he was panicking.

Oh, even his forehead was sweating even though this room was air-conditioned. He also just finished his shower. But that cold sweat came in response to his body over his panic.

"Mmm, this apartment, and the car too..."

"It's got you. Aye, right? Not your cousin." Kalula precedes the talk by somewhat cutting off Edward's words. He knew Edward had trouble explaining.

"Y-yes. Y-you know where it came from? From Edo?" Edward called the name out of panic.

"Edo?" Kalula furrowed his brows.

Edward was silent. He felt a wrong move. He should not have mentioned Edo. If this is how he accuses Edo.

"Edward, Edo has nothing to do with this. I know for myself. Sorry. Yesterday when I called you where the medicine box was, you told me to find it myself in your drawer.

Then the medicine box met. I've met a lot of documents about you that I shouldn't have seen. I know I'm sassy. But with my sassness I finally knew everything.

Your childhood album showing all the luxuries of your life, your college diploma abroad, passport, holiday visa."

And Kalula's words flowed smoothly and quietly. Edward who stammered was unable to respond.

Kalula is as calm as the water in the lake. Calm down, drown unwittingly. And Edward was immersed in every word the girl spoke.

Oh, he should have known that the risk of people lying was to be discovered.

"The story about your cousin is that I thought it was a piece of writing. Aye, right? There is no cousin who studied abroad. Your cousin is just Seira. That's what you told me yourself when we talked about Edo.

So, Ed. I'm confused about everything. What are the reasons you lied and all sorts of things. Until I finally knew what reason you were once you confessed earlier.

Okay, you like me and want to be close. Okay, I can't ban you from that. Butwhy? What's special about me? I'm just a poor girl with bad luck. You even know all the depravity of my life and my family.

Ed, this is weird. Let me keep my distance after this. You deserve a more decent girl. I can't be liked like that. More by you. We're different. I'll find another job while staying in the cafe for a while."

The deg!

Jara distance...

We're different...

I'll find a job somewhere else...

Those words sounded very softly out from the lips of a Kalula. But the effect on Edward was deadly.

Heart's torn.

Must explain with what to Kalula understand that he is very worthy of love. Must how? Why would he want to avoid and leave.

"Kal, you're different. You're special. And I can't help but fall in love even though I knew you still had Edo yesterday. Pelase, don't go. Give me a chance. Give yourself a chance to try to love me."

But those words aren't easy to get out of. Just sitting in Edward's head. Her lips felt stifled.

"Well, is it, Ed? Oh, maybe I should change my call to a more polite one. I call you 'Sir' maybe. No need to pretend to be a barista at the cafe. I know your place isn't there.

Thanks for all..."

Edward could only hold his head.

Is being rich that hard? Just wanting to find the right girl just has to convolve her way.

And as soon as Edward wanted to get out of the dining table chair, the phone in his pants pocket lit up.

"Mama called."

That's the writing on the screen.

While walking again into the room, Edward picked up the call.

"Hello, Ma? Why else?" Edward's voice sounded hostile.

"You go to the office. Kan has signed an agreement to slowly take over business affairs. There's a Mayor coming. Colleague Mom. He wants to join branches and large capital nawarin. Arrive at 10 on time. Mama wait!"

Tut!

Then the call was turned off unilaterally. Edward took a deep breath. He feels stuffy.

Why is love so hard? You could say he was the perfect guy. Money is there, pretty handsome, nice education, respectable family.

Oh, while a fucking guy like Edo is lucky to be loved by Kalula so deeply. Even after breaking up an ordinary guy who looks and money just mediocre it chased Seira.

Aghhh! Sometimes life is unfair!

***

Kalula was wiping the table as soon as Dika passed beside her. It's noon and Edward hasn't shown up at the cafe.

Kalula was secretly worried despite the prestige to ask directly.

I don't know, he's confused about his own feelings right now.

"Mmm, Mr. Dika. Um, sir Edward didn't come in today?" Kalula's voice was slow but clearly audible.

Dika knitted his brows. Kalula just grinned.

"Sir Edward?" She asked back with doubt. He began to suspect because Kalula began to call Edward 'Pak.'

Edward's phone call this morning also confused him. Edward just said he was going to head office today and not coming to the cafe. Dika nodded in understanding and waited for further instructions but it turned out that Edward disconnected the call.

I thought Edward would tell him to lie to Kalula about his disappearance or how. But it didn't.

And this afternoon Dika was getting confused. Kalula looked at him with her clear words.

"I already know everything about Mr. Edward. Didn't he go to the cafe today?" ask Kalula.

Dika stuttered a bit and then nodded. "Yes, Mr. Edward has an important meeting at the headquarters" he said."

Dika then passed away and went back to his room because he felt awkward with Kalula.

Kalula again wiped the table but while daydreaming. Oh, why does he suddenly feel so empty? Feel something is missing?

Isn't this what he wants? He wanted to keep his distance and Edward made it easier by not appearing in front of him again.

But why did Kalula even feel a slight void in Edward's absence?

Kalula passed away and took care of another table that the waiter had just left behind. Feelings may be upset, but work must still go.

Kalula did not know that from his office window, Dika was peeking at him secretly while one hand holding a mobile phone, received a call from Edward.

"But Sir. I don't have the heart. Poor Kalula..."

What exactly was Edward talking to Dika?
