5. Edward's Apartment

In the taxi Kalula was crying. Edward calmed him. The taxi driver who was driving them was confused. But of course he was just silent while occasionally glancing towards the middle rearview.

Wet Kalula Shirt. Hair too. Earlier, the drizzle that incarnated heavy rain had hit him when he was about to enter a taxi.

Kalula. He thought after getting wet in the taxi, he would come home greeted by warm drinks by his mother. It turned out to be billed money and amused, even until the woman slipped mention of her true identity.

"I'm not a real child, Ed." A tired, crying Kalula stared at the window. Seen the rain apparently fell again with a heavy. He said softly.

I don't know why this taxi is unlucky and stuck in this jammed lane. Understandably, rain at certain hours usually makes the path congested and jammed.

Edward held his hand. Kalula let it go.

"He grabbed you. I see it with my eyes. I've never even seen such a cruel parent in his son. Never mind, get out of that house. He deserves to be evil. He just wants your money, Kal." Edward looked upset.

Kalula started to shiver a little coldly laughing discordantly.

"Ed, being pinched is too common for me. I've been beaten, kicked, doused in hot tea because my tea is less man-made..."

"Stop! Kal! Pleases. I've never been treated that badly by anyone. That's evil, Kal! Why are you quiet?" Edward is getting hot.

The taxi driver who had been indifferent now also stiffened hearing this story. He was too tired to drive since morning, and maybe eavesdropping on passenger conversations like this became his own entertainment.

"Says he's a darling. He said let me be educated and be strong. I should be suspicious because if in front of papa, he's good. I think it's a form of darling." Kalula rubbed his dripping tears again.

Edward was emotional. His sympathy, empathy, compassion, and instinct to protect Kalula grew bigger and smoldering.

"No! No, Kal! It's abbusive! That's not honey. Don't go back to that house. You do not owe. Before this, the one who financed your life was your late father. Not that woman.

Kal, please. This is not fair. You're working hard, Kal. Think of yourself. Edo knows about this? About your mama who likes to be rude?" Edward clasped Kalula's hand tighter.

Kalula shook weakly. "don't know. Mama was always nice in front of Edo. I also feel unworthy to say this to him even though we are that close. It's a family matter.

I think my mom used to be so stressed and tired of thinking about our economic condition, thinking of my sickly dad. I often see him crying. I'm sad to see he's sad. I think he needs an impingement. I'm not angry or against him if he starts to be verbally or physically abusive."

Edward took a deep breath. He's getting anxious. Kalula could have thought that sincerely to the person who carved it.

"Kal, even if she was your real mama, her actions would still be wrong. Don't normalize this!" Edward was still trying to lower his furious voice.

Kalula just shut up. He just tried to let go of Edward's hand because he was overwhelmed by wiping his tears with one hand.

"I've seen their marriage book. My father's status is virgin, not widower. I don't know why that is. It may be wrong or her old marital status with my birth mother is not recorded.

I was shocked at that time. My date of birth is a few months ahead of their wedding date. Papa confusedly replied. There's no way he said typo. The document is integrated into other similar documents. Same date. It can't be all typos.

Papa's face turned sad as I asked that. I was Junior High. Papa apologized. She said she was pregnant out of wedlock. I-i understand. I think papa might be embarrassed to admit this. But now that I think about it, papa's lying.

My biological mother died giving birth to me. Then he married Sastri's mother, and a few years later Karina was born. So we're not a thousand, just a father. Mama was very gentle and never got angry with Karina. As for me, he's rude."

Kalula ended her sentence by wiping her tears again and trying to smile.

"No matter the story, Kal. Your mama's still evil. Go and never come back from that house!" Edward tried to grab Kalula's hand again.

Kalula looked at him with blank eyes.

"I don't have a purpose, Ed. I don't have any money. I was too emotional. That's why I'm coming with you in this cab. If there is no you, I will run to the next alley. Then I go home again and my mama will apologize, and then tomorrow it might come back rough again."

Kalula laughed bitterly.

Edward shakes.

"No! No, Kal! I'm not taking you back to that house! We're going home to my place." Edward said firmly.

Kalula just remained silent for some reason. He did not reject Edward's coercion. After all the thought of going home to her mother's rented made her sick. At least at this time.

If you have a regular fight and based on it, he may still go home. But this time it's different. Kalula got the answer to all the bad treatment he had received so far: he was not a biological child.

***

Kalula is a little soaked. His hands hugged his arms to drive away the cold. He looked around confused.

When Edward mentioned about his stay in the apartment, Kalula thought it was just an ordinary apartment that was cheap.

Not underestimating. Edward is a barista. How much is his salary? How can you live in such a luxurious apartment?

It seems that this apartment is very classy and not arbitrary people can live here, unless people make money of course.

Edward pushed the elevator button and let Kalula follow him. He looks agitated. His brain is squeezed to find a reason for this absurd apartment.

Until finally when the passengers of the elevator went down one by one and only the two of them remained, the mouth of Kalula who just opened to ask this immediately clenched.

Edward had already gone ahead and explained everything.

"I can't possibly live here, can I, Kal? Yeah, this is my cousin's apartment. Distant cousin. He was studying abroad, so I was told to take care of his apartment. Because if rented he is afraid the tenant is not responsible and damage the goods.

But if it is issued empty is not occupied, he said he felt there will be a waiter for a long time. He believes in ghosts. He said the aura was so bleak." Edward explained about ghosts while grinning. I don't know if this reason makes sense. He doesn't care. He was confused to find out what reason.

Kalula only listened while furrowing his brows.

"When he comes back here on summer vacation, Kal. So I'm lucky to be able to hitch a ride in such a fancy place, right?" Edward was a little stammered as he made up this excuse.

This is his private apartment. He really lives here.

Kalula. Apparently Edward's explanation he felt was reasonable and quite convincing. He nodded in trust.

Then they went into Edward's apartment. Kalula was a bit amazed too. The unit is spacious and luxurious.

Edward was quick. He then directed Kalula to his room and took her in his dressing room. He also told Kalula to change clothes first so as not to get cold and sick.

Kalula stared at Edward's borrowed white T-shirt in embarrassment. He ventured to ask for a change. He did not know when he turned around from the bathroom, Edward was taking off the shirt he was wearing so that his masculine muscles appeared.

Somehow Kalula felt embarrassed and unworthy to see this scene. He turned his body again while holding his breath.

"Why, Kal? The towel is inside. To set the warm water just press the red button like I said." Edward asked.

Kalula felt her cheeks flushed. He doubted but he had to say he wouldn't. His clothes were soaked deep. He can't wear white. Can see everything.

"Ed, all my clothes are wet. All the. Okay well? All!" Kalula held her breath.

"Yes? Continues to?" Edward apparently has not caught the direction of this conversation.

"Yes. All wet. I don't have a change of clothes to eat you lend, right? Well, lend me a black shirt or a dark one. But the important thing is thick. Okay well? Thicker. You know what I mean?" Kalula said while holding his back in shame to turn his back on Edward because he did not want to see the man without clothes.

Edward smiled. He agreed and immediately looked for the clothes Kalula meant immediately. He knows it's a bad day for Kalula, but seeing the girl blush in her apartment makes him happy.

"Thanks, Ed." Kalula received a shirt and ran to the bathroom.

Edward laughed with anxiety. Then his laughter stopped as soon as he heard the sound of mobile phone vibration. His eyes immediately turned towards Kalula sling bag.

Edward knew this was presumptuous, but he felt very curious. He checked Kalula's phone in the shower.

"My Edo called out"

"Curtain! My Edo's? Look, Do. I'll have your name blocked in Kalula's contact list soon. Kalula is mine now." Edward nodded with a rancid.

Edward cunningly pressed the power button next to the phone so that the flat object was off alias inactive.

Let it! Let Edo not bother them both tonight.
