Edward was a bit away from his mother's room when he called Dika. He walked to the balcony.
"It's orders! Just do it the same way I said." Edward looks riled up because Dika instead convoluted.
"But why, sir? I saw Kalula bring a suitcase this morning. He said he wanted to move to a new boarding house because today's payday. If I hold my salary, what's the kid?" Dika sounded limp as soon as he heard this shocking command.
He knew his argument could never win against Edward the boss. But he could not bear if he had to hold Kalula's salary.
When he knew how much Edward liked Kalula even until this whole month he became a self-styled barista to just get close to Kalula. About Kalula himself Dika also does not know much. But about the economic difficulties he knew because at that time mama Kalula had come to the cafe and rampaged, right?
"Udah. Just be quiet. Later when he realized his salary today did not enter, surely he will contact you. Well, you said that you forgot to tell him that the account number he gave me was problematic so it could not be transferred.
You set that reason. If he asks for cash salary, say only from the center can not. Must be via transfer and long, at least 10 days or whatever. Set aja. Wanna?" Edward forced.
It sounds like I am willing to accept this request. Oh, rich guy. Anything will be done to achieve what it wants. Dika can only be deepened in the heart.
"Edward! The mayor will be here soon. Who did you call again, anyway?"
A voice appeared. Edward hurriedly closed the call.
"It's nobody, Ma." Edward seemed to be in a quick motion putting his phone in his pants pocket.
Amelia Santono looked at her son suspiciously. He ruffled his waist and looked at Edward with a probing look.
"You called Kalula-Kalula that?" asked Amelia Santono in a thin tone.
Edward shakes. Ah, he was still upset every mother called Kalula's name with a dismissive tone.
"Why else is that boy? You haven't told me honestly about him? She's still hitchhiking in your apartment?" Amelia Santono asked in a cynical tone.
How not cynical. She's just an ordinary mother, who must have remained upset at the thought of her son bringing a girl to stay in his apartment for weeks. Obviously not just upset, but anxious as well.
Edward seemed to have no interest in discussing this with his mother. Recalling her confession earlier this morning, hearing Kalula's decision to stay away made her cringe. He did not want to add to the annoyance in his heart with endless debates with his mother.
"Callula came out of the apartment today. I told you he wasn't that generous. He's keeping promises. As soon as payday, straight out of my place. Don't mention his name in a cynical tone anymore, Ma. Don't piss me off."
Edward's voice sounded really upset. Amelia Santono shrugged her shoulders indifferently. Though his heart was happy to also hear the girl had come out of his son's apartment.
"Mrs Amelia, the Mayor came first. He's in the toilet downstairs. Come up to Mom's room soon. Mr. Mayor said a little late because there was still a meeting. Later on." Shanty the private secretary Amelia Santono reported.
Amelia Santono nodded. He walked towards Shanty and patted his shoulder gently.
"Udah. Go home. Don't force yourself. No papa today not until the hour home. This is the last day. Your lips are pale. Office documents that you have not had time to pack so that Cyntia is cleared. I'll send it to your address by courier."
The fierce Amelia Santono looks so attentive to her employees. Yes, looks fierce and firm is just the cover. His eyebrows are very understanding to his employees.
Shanty nodded and thanked. Amelia Santono did not even hesitate to hug her private secretary. Shanty returned the hug while crying. Edward just watched this scene in confusion.
"Thank you, Mom. I don't know how else to thank you. I will help you find a suitable replacement. I have many acquaintances." Shanty then sat politely while wiping his tears.
Amelia Santono nodded then let the young lady go.
Edward walked closer to his mother.
"Shanty why, Ma? She resigned?" Edward asked curiously.
"Yes. Pregnant young again. Pity since pregnancy to be sickly. Her husband told her to get out of work. Ah, but Mama has been fit 5 years with him. It's hard to find a good personal assistant to work, understand and withstand the behavior and rhythm of your work."
The words of Amelia Santono were interrupted as soon as the Mayor they were waiting for came to her aide.
The story of Shanty resigning and his mother of personal assistant workers just passed by. Edward didn't think it was important. Though from this incident the fate of Kalula to the other door opened.
And that afternoon Edward boasted a familiar snob with Mr. Mayor who kept talking about his favorite football club. Edward did not like it. Yeah, sometimes it has to be like this. Pretend you like it so everything goes well.
While enjoying the time that passed so drab, Edward occasionally checked his phone. Hope Kalula calls him or sends him a message.
"Ed, I can stay in the apartment again, right? My salary is problematic and hasn't been transferred yet."
Ah, just one sentence and Edward will be happy. Staying at home with Kalula will give him more chances to convince the girl.
"Let's start over, Kal. You've broken up with Edo. I like you too. So why not? Don't think about the difference between us. I like you for who you are."
Uh! If only it were that easy to say.
"Ed? Edward?" The mayor rebuked him for daydreaming.
"Eh, oh. I-iya, Sir. Excuse me. Where was it?" edward asked trying to focus again and threw Kalula out of his mind for a moment.
"That's my favorite club's main home in the city where you go to college. Have you ever seen the game?" Mr. Mayor was still so enthusiastic about discussing his favorite football club.
"Oh, never, sir. Not even that time. But I've seen it in Milan..."

Edward was driving home to his apartment when Kalula was standing in front of his ATM machine with a panicked face.
Why hasn't the payday money come in yet? Whereas earlier in the dressing room he heard his other co-workers were engrossed in talking about the payday that had entered the account.
Kalula does have a banking application on his phone. He could check first. But he thought it was unnecessary. Just take it home and walk to the new boarding house.
Kalula pulled his ATM card limply. His gaze grew even more limp as he stared at the suitcase and bag of clothes that he had transported this morning from Edward's apartment.
It's dark. It's 7 o'clock now. What's he supposed to do?
He can't walk to the hostess' place without money. Payment must be made in advance, new boarding rooms can be occupied.
Did he just go home to Mama Sastri's rented house again while waiting for clarity of salary?
Aghhh! Nah!
Kalula shakes imagining. He was too sick and tortured. Going back to that house feels like going back to hell.
"Am I going back to Edward's place again? Aghhh! Nah! I promised to keep my distance! Connecting with a rich man will make my life more complicated later." Kalula muttered to himself while crouching on the floor.
What should he do now? It just so happened that he was not too far from the cafe. Did he just go back there and see Mr Dika? Only Dika can explain why his salary has not entered today.
"Yes, Mr. Dika is still the next handle shift. He must not have come home." Kalula muttered again.
Then, dragging his suitcase back, he walked to the cafe.
Somehow his fate will be...
How did Edward's trick withholding his salary work?
