Jogja At A Time

Jogja At A Time
34. The New Story

"Where are you going To ?" Grandma rebuked Seto who looked neat.

"To Hopan Nek ... friend's house,"

"Woman ?" Grandma turned towards Seto.

Seto returned a smile to Grandma who looked happy. Since living at Grandma's house for college, many times Grandma asked who her female friends were. And only this time he nodded in response to Grandma's question.

Seto promised to come to Jengki's house to attend mendak pindho after two years of Joko's departure when Bening told at the Sokaraja workshop. In the Javanese tradition of ritual selamatan mendak pindho is a tradition of sending a prayer for the deceased so that all his mistakes and sins are forgiven and facilitated the path to Heaven.

Seto works to help in the workshop after following Joko's request after returning from Banjarejo's house first on the sidelines of his lecture.

From the time Joko was still hospitalized until his death, Seto knew very well what Joko wanted and what he had to do .

His experience while working on the ship's engine makes Seto do not need to linger in mastering the tools of the Sokaraja workshop that Joko bought.

Slowly the workshop financial condition improved. Bank installments that were originally bailed out by Seto began to be closed from the entry of the workshop.

There was a twinkle of Joko's relief when he first heard the repair shop's improved condition from his wife's Bening story.

God rules the universe with the complexity of each of its inhabitants. Hearing the story of the modern workshop he coveted finally went according to plan, Joko was happy in her last moments. Seto's presence made him go home with a sense of peace.

...----------------...

Entering the yard of Jengki's house after a long time made Seto's heart beat irregular. However, there are many stories about him in the house that are very difficult.

Experiencing some neighbors who had already sat on the mat, Seto leaned his back against the wall. Throwing a smile at Mr. Joko and some workshop employees who were sitting not far in front of him.

Waiting for Modin Village who will lead the prayer to come, Seto spoke with Jengki's house neighbors who sat next to him. Every now and then, Seto's eyes turned to the kitchen as seen from where he was sitting.

Looking at Bening who was replying to him from inside the kitchen, there was a sense of calm in Seto's heart.

From that look, Seto felt that Bening had given up Joko's return. It's just that Bening's request to talk to him alone after the celebration that makes Seto's little heart rumble filled with various questions.

No last message of Joko burdened Seto's mind. Joko's request to help raise the workshop has also been complied with.

About the money used by Joko also never thought and asked Bening after Joko died.

The greeting of Modin Village from the entrance of Jengki's house shifted the various questions that were in Seto's mind. Replying to the greetings of Modin Village and his regret made Seto's mind return to the mendak pindo ritual that will begin after the atmosphere of Jengki's house is secluded.

...----------------...

"You mind accompanying me To ?" Bening started a conversation on the back porch of Jengki's house with Seto after the celebration was over.

Shaking his head, Seto stared intently at Bening's eyes. "What do you want to say Ning ?" Selanya later.

"I just want to ask for time to return the money you lent to Joko," Bening replied directly to his heartbreak.

A little surprised, Seto thought for a moment to reply to Bening's words that were beyond his expectations. About the money used by Joko for the installment of the workshop was never thought of and asked Bening.

"Where did you conclude I asked you to return the money ?" Trying to read the direction of the conversation, Seto asked again.

"What does all this have to do with Silence ?" Seto was still trying to figure it out again.

Quiet for a moment still with his stuffing, a series of words then flowed slowly from his lips wet. About his tiredness with death at Jengki's house.

"I'll leave this house if Silence approves of it,"

"You mean ?" Seto. His fingers clasped tightly onto the palm of the woman trying to open the veil of heart pain.

"The company I went this time To," a touch of Seto's fingers was enjoyed right by Bening, "I'll meet Silence in Jogja next week." The tones continued from his lips.

If the death of the Father and Mother made the womanhood Bening become strong and independent afterwards. Not with Joko's death. This time her womanizing. Choosing to leave Jengki's house forgetting the cracks of his heart that he felt would be uniting pieces.

"I have no right to go too far into your relationship with Silence. But about your request to accompany you, I promise I won't let you go with all your worries" Seto clutched tightly, "Please put your mind aside about the money Joko used," he whispered later.

"So you promised you'd go with me anywhere this time ?" Isak clear disappeared. Feeling the heartbeat of the man who clenched his body, trying to warm his fragile soul.

Nodding towards Bening .. One hand Seto tightly hugged, and one hand the other played Clear hair ... Jengki's house then fell silent ...

...----------------...

Eleven o'clock at night Seto entered Grandma's house. Tivi the middle room is still on. Mas Sarno looked sound asleep in front of the tivi. Not wanting to disturb him, Seto let Sarno mas. Slowly move towards the kitchen to make coffee.

Grandma's room light flashed as Seto stirred his coffee glass. It seems that the sound of spoon-stirring resuscitated Grandma from her break.

"Have you come home ?" The voice of Grandma reprimanding Seto was heard from inside the room.

"Yes Mbah," Seto approached and went into Grandma's room.

Put a coffee cup on the room table. Seto sat on the carpet, began to gently massage Grandma's legs sitting on the bed.

"Tumben did you come home last night ?" Grandma closed her eyes enjoying Seto's massage, "Dating huh ?" Continue Grandma again. This time began to chuckle at teasing his eldest grandson.

"Ah the Mbah. I'm still a mandita," Seto also chuckled in response to Grandma's temptation.

If Grandma hadn't woken up, Seto would have called Seti. Reporting plans for his arrival to Jogja next week. Communication with Seti became easier after he installed the phone at the Samirono boarding house along with Grandma's landline from the severance money he set aside.

The severance pay was given to the company after Seto finally decided not to renew his sailing contract shortly after the Drini island fishing shop began to bustle. Moreover, Father and Mother did not dispute his decision.

Father and Mother know very well if he is serious in Sokaraja workshop and campus with his college obligations. Can not be burdened anymore with the business of sailing.

"Have your face fixed .. ndang married," Grandma continued to tease Seto.

Seto's laughter is getting louder. Trying to cover up his maleness that was again disturbed after almost two hours of conversation at Jengki's house with Bening earlier.

Letting and listening to all the complaints of Bening, this time the maleness of Seto is getting older. Letting the Time rewrite the story of his life without any doubt ...
