Jogja At A Time

Jogja At A Time
35. The Sanggar Taji

Piles of cardboard packaging lined up neatly. Tagged Sanggar Seni Taji with black and white and simple letter forms embedded in the packaging further strengthen the ethnic impression of the goods in it.

Silent looks satisfied with the packing packaging ordered. His efforts with Yuni raising the art studio finally bear fruit.

Not expecting the advice of some visitors who followed to give the name sanggar with a unique name in the Ancol art market was able to add interest to some foreign tourists stop by.

The name of the spurs is spoken when discussing with Yuni, Asri, Joe, Doni and Seti.

The meaning of the word taji sanggar is not like the meaning of the word tajen in Bali which comes from the word Taji which means cockfighting with sharp objects that have developed quite rooted in the life of Balinese people and is a part of the religious ritual of tabuh rah or prang sata in Balinese Hindu society.

This tabuh rah requires the presence of dripping blood as a symbol or condition to purify mankind from greed and greed for materialistic and worldly values.

Tabuh rah also means as a ritual ceremony blind yadnya where the blood dripping into the earth is symbolized as a plea of mankind to Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in order to avoid distress.

Taji which is meant as a differentiator of the name of the Hening and Yuni sanggar is more philosophic as a means of self-defense the gift of the Khalik from the dangers and evaders of something evil.

It was Joe who then poured the idea of the name in a streak of black and white logo that distinguishes it from other art hangars.

Slowly the name of the Taji Art Sanggar is also known from paintings also from leather crafts and ethnic knickknacks on display.

...----------------...

Yuni's trade instincts that tried to display Doni's leather bag in Sanggar Taji were finally answered by the market. The bag used from one or two buyers began to attract visitors who saw it.

From word of mouth the bags on display in the sanggar began to be known to local buyers. Moreover, every three months Doni diligently produces a new model.

Either because of luck or also because of the closeness of Yuni and Silence with his senior fellow alumni of IKJ and contemporary artists in Jakarta finally involve both in the committee of Contemporary Art Exhibition from Non-Aligned Countries.

Supported by Yuni's English language skills from childhood with his Father's friends at Ancol Art Market, the moment was utilized properly by Yuni and Silence to introduce Sanggar Taji to some outside and local representatives who were preparing the exhibition.

Not expecting after stopping at Sanggar Taji some exhibition representatives were interested in buying leather crafts on display.

Yuni and Silence had doubts about the available stock. Fortunately, some requests for visitors to the hangar are still in the Malioboro lapak.

Silence which also captures the opportunity to make environmentally friendly packaging from recycled cardboard materials after buyers from abroad ask for packaging that will be used to wrap it to be brought home to their country as an eye after finished preparing for exhibition.

Two weeks of preparing all kinds of goods ordered and packed until delivery, studied properly and recorded by Yuni and Silent. Be prepared not to be hassled if there is any more demand when another visitor promised to come in April after the exhibition opens.

"Have you sorted out Yun's expedition ?" Tanya Silence in between checking the records of goods to be sent by the expedition company.

"All of them ... Stay taken later same expedition person," Yuni plays a camera to document the first shipment of Sanggar Taji abroad.

There were half an hour both of them back busy with their respective affairs.

"We eat first keep on yuk ?" Shortly after feeling satisfied and there was no discrepancy with the record, Silent invited Yuni to fill her stomach that felt hungry.

"Well until we forget the contents of the stomach .. yuk we eat well." Yuni packed the camera following Silent invitation.

...----------------...

"I think our hard work is starting to succeed Hen," Yuni said among the rice paddies she ordered.

"May Yun continue, ..can't wait for me as soon as possible to Jogja share the windfall with Malioboro lapak," Silent responded to Yuni's words.

"Next week we're going there, right ?" Tanya Yuni later.

"Be it," replied Silent as he sipped his favorite Betawi soto soup, "Mr Ning will also go to Jogja to meet us there," he continued.

"It looks like he has started to let go of Mas Joko. It's just that he said he wanted to talk to me directly outside Jengki's house when he last called me,"

"Hopefully he'll have a good time to chat in Jogja,"

"I hope so. Just not as usual he did not invite me to talk alone in Jengki's room if there was something that stuck in his heart he wanted to talk to me,"

"Hahaha, maybe she wants to ask who your boyfriend is," Yuni tries to divert what her best friend is thinking.

Silence returned Yuni's laughter. Remembering many times some of his friends on campus tried to approach him first.Unlike Yuni who finally got closer and finally fell in love with Doni, he ignored his boyfriend who tried to get closer.

Restricting only Seti, Joe and Doni as boyfriends to share stories, Silence focused with her college until it was finished after being tested with pain until the death of her brother's husband Joko Bening.

Meeting and finally familiar with Yuni who had been considered as a brother in the Jakarta stopover recognized a small heart of silence as a gift in his life.

Silence can not imagine if without Yuni he will be able to overcome the difficulties he has gone through.

Being independent and no longer dependent on the helping hand Bening can not be separated from his relationship with Yuni.

The Yuni order coffee served after lunch was done brushed aside what flashed in Silent minds.

Each one lit a cigarette. Waiting for the coffee to warm up to enjoy. The two women who are more beautiful with maturity are seen enjoying the afternoon air of Jakarta.

...----------------...

"Yuk, we go back to Sanggar. Perhaps the expedition was already there," Silent spent the rest of the coffee and turned off the cigarettes he smoked into the ashtray.

"Yes ... almost forgot there was one more job to be done." Yuni got up to her feet following the silence that went first.

Not far from where they eat with Sanggar Taji.

Walking for about five minutes until Yuni and Silent to the studio and their office after completing their lecture.

"Lying first Hen next door while waiting for the goods to be taken," Yuni handed over the keys of the relics of the Father.

Sanggar which is next to Sanggar Taji has been slightly changed. Now more as a studio finishing course and temporary residence Yuni and Silent after om Rudi call Silent to father Yuni moved to Jogja.

Receiving the key given, Silence went to the door sanggar om Rudi. The cold air of the AC room cooled the heat of Jakarta that he felt when walking earlier.

Turning on the radio in the corner of the studio, Silent hearts flinched as the song Kangen Dewa 19 sounded. Recall with memories of a time that was hard to forget ...

I got your letter, I read it and I understand

How much you will miss me

In your days, together again

You ask me, "When will I come back?"

You said you couldn't resist the turmoil in your chest

The burning ones hold back the sense of our meeting later

When you are with yourself ...
