32 - For the sake of the Family

After a conversation that made Dea's heart soften, Shady continued on his way to Dea's house. There Naura was waiting for Dea and Shady with a big smile.

"Mama! Papa!" Naura ran over to Dea who had just gotten out of the car.

Dea hugged the little girl. Seeing her boisterous laughter made Dea unable to resist Shady's desire to get back to living together with the man.

"Papa's son!" Shady carried Naura and walked into the house.

Dea greeted the mother and father who were waiting for their arrival.

"You change your clothes and rest first. Then we have lunch together. I've cooked your favorite meal, Nduk." Marni steps with Dea towards her room.

"Mother cooking?"

Marni nodded.

"If you're cooking, then what about our store? I shouldn't have thought about that. You should wait for me to come home. We've agreed to take turns keeping the shop."

"Already, don't think about it, Nduk. You change clothes first. I'll explain everything."

Dea looked in wonder at her mother. There seems to be something Marni is hiding, Dea thought.

After changing clothes, Dea headed to the dining table and his family members had gathered there.

"Nana, you didn't get into your class today?" asked Dea while sitting on one of the chairs.

"No, Ma'am. I've finished my class."

Nana's answer made Dea's forehead wrinkle.

"We should eat first, after that we talk" said Karsa.

Everyone eats quietly. Shady occasionally glanced at Dea who looked still confused by all these situations.

After lunch, Karsa asks Dea and Shady to gather in the living room.

"Sir Shady, I want to thank you for the kindness of Nak Shady" Karsa said.

"No need to thank you, sir. It's my duty as Father's son-in-law."

Dea again knitted her brows. It was not just the talk of these two men that Dea did not understand, but the call Karsa had pinned for Shady. The one who previously called Shady with 'master' now changed with 'son'. Dea felt strange about that.

"Sir, you don't know what we're talking about. So look, Nak Shady bought a shophouse building near our house for the business of mother and father. So, we no longer rent stalls in the market. We will sell near home. If there's anything can go home soon."

Dea looked at Shady after getting a story from her father.

"But, the shophouse at the market was also bought by Nak Shady. You can rent out the stall to other traders. So, we also get income from it," continued Karsa.

Dea sighed. Dea was silent and did not comment. He had expected that Shady would persuade his family that Dea might be reduced to him.

"Nak Shady has also enrolled Nana to a good university in the city. He'll stay with you there."

Dea was speechless. Apparently Shady has taken the heart of all members of his family. Dea doesn't have to answer anything. Because all of them he would not be able to argue.

In the evening, after finishing the day, Dea wanted to breathe warm air tonight from the front porch of her house. After the discussion this afternoon, it was decided that Dea and Nana would go with Shady to the Hutama family home. Dea will return to the house she left behind.

Dea's father's new store is now in preparation for the opening. Items from the old store are moved to a new store near the house.

Shady became acquainted with the neighbors of his home-in-law as a son-in-law. Dea who saw that could only shake her head slowly. He thinks Shady is overreacting.

"Mas, Dr. Arshad is a good person. I just wanted to thank him. That's all!"

Shady shook his head strongly. "If you want to see him, then I have to come!"

Dea rolled her eyes lazily. "As much as you do, Mom!"

Dea immediately stepped her foot. Then Shady quickly grabbed Dea's hand and grabbed it.

"I'll drive you." Shady commented on her sweetest smile. Dea simply nodded in response.

Arrive at the village clinic...

"Doctor Arshad has moved on, Ma'am. About two days ago," explained a village clinic employee.

"Eh? Oh so yeah. Move where?" ask Dea.

"Well, I don't know, ma'am. But it looks like a big city, Ma'am."

"Ah, so. Then thank you. Excuse me!"

Dea again stepped out of the clinic still followed by Shady.

"Easy! Why grieve for not being able to say goodbye to her?"

Dea doesn't push Shady and gets back in the car. Dea was still thinking about why Arshad had not said anything to her. At least say goodbye to him.

"Next time don't be so good to other men. That guy could have misunderstood!" shady.

"I don't understand what I'm saying."

Shady took a breath and exhaled slowly. "You really don't understand what I'm saying? You have an intelligent brain but are very layman with the name love."

"I've never been in love! I never had a boyfriend either! Satisfied now?!"

Shady laughed a little. He pulled Dea's body and carried her in his arms.

"Mas, release! Someone will see!"

"Leave it! We're in the car anyway. And my car's glass doesn't make people look inside."

"But, Mom..."

"Dea, marry me!"

Dea was silent and did not rebel. Dea only feels if Shady's heartbeat beats so fast.

"Mom-weren't we married? Why did you ask me to get married again?"

Shady sighed. "I married you on paper only. Now I want to marry you with all my heart and soul. Please answer me, do you want to marry me?"

Dea was silent. It feels like Dea is indeed speechless if together with this one child widower.

Shady broke his embrace. Now they look at each other. With a slow nod, Dea agreed to Shady's request. Dea kept her face down in embarrassment. This was a romantic request that Shady had made to her.

"Thank you, Dea."

Shady brought his face closer and squeezed Dea's chin to look at him. Without coercion Dea accepts Shady's lips which are attached to hers.
