Dea began to enjoy her role as a surrogate mother as well as a freshman on her campus. As much as possible Dea divided his time in order to keep taking care of Naura well.
As of right now, Dea was playing with Naura after returning home from college. His tiredness instantly disappeared when he saw the adorable boy invite him to play on the floor of his room.
Dea invited the little boy to play until he laughed crisply and made Shady who had just returned from the office feel curious about the origin of the sound of laughter. Shady goes into Naura's room and finds her daughter playing funny.
"What is your son playing?"
Shady's voice made Dea startled and instantly speechless.
"Master's home yet?" ask Dea for pleasantries.
"Hmm, today there is no meeting outside the office. And I don't know why I miss this beautiful princess so much."
Shady held Naura and kissed the boy on the cheek. The boy was keen because of the fine feathers on Shady's face.
"I'll get some fruit for Naura." Dea went from there and headed for the kitchen. For some reason being close to Shady still feels awkward for him.
Before long Dea returned to the room and brought pieces of melon to Naura.
"Naura really likes melons." Dea told me about Naura.
"really? It means just like his late mother." Shady's face turned sad.
"Sorry, Sir. I didn't mean to..."
"It's okay. She'll still get enough affection from me and from her grandmother and aunt."
Dea nodded in understanding why she was not called. "I also love Naura, sir."
"You guys! You are Naura's parents! Why even argue about this?" Nilam interrupted the conversation of his son and daughter-in-law.
"Dea, you better start changing your calls to Shady. He is your husband, not your master!" nilam's suggestion that seems to have been sultry heard the call 'master' pinned Dea to Shady.
Dea just smiled stiffly then looked at Shady at a glance. "All right, Mom." Dea always wants to please Nilam who has been very good to him.
"Bang, you just came home from the office instead of taking a shower first, change clothes first, even come here. Dea, please prepare your husband's needs. There go!" Nilam holds his first grandchild.
"But, Mum... That's not necessary!" reject Shady.
"Nothing but. It's there, Dea! You've prepared all your husband's needs."
Dea complied and soon passed from Naura's room. Nilam stared intently at Shady.
"You've been married for six months. At least be nice to your wife, Shady! You yourself married Dea. So don't blame Mom if you'll continue to support your relationship for the better." Nilam also passed by taking Naura with him.
Shady could only sigh and follow his mother's wishes.
Inside the room, Dea had finished preparing the bath water for Shady. He then goes to the wardrobe and prepares another Shady need.
"You don't have to do this!" Shady's voice made Dea turn around.
With a smile, Dea put Shady's clothes on the bed.
"It's okay, Mom. It's not because of mom. It's because of my own wishes. Oh yeah, you don't mind if I call you 'mas'?"
"Eh? Ah, naw. It's okay."
Dea nodded. "It is better if you take a shower, then the water will be cold. Then excuse me first."
After Dea died, Shady went straight to the bathroom and cleaned himself up. Fifteen minutes later he came out and looked at the change of clothes that Dea had prepared.
A collared sweatshirt with casual trousers became Dea's choice.
"How does he know what I like?" muttered Shady who did not realize that now he was smiling.
...***...
Dea begins to feel Shady's change in attitude towards her. Shady gets warmer and often plays with Naura and herself. Dea thinks this is a good thing.
Now all Shady's needs are prepared by Dea. From the beginning of waking up until going to sleep.
"Ehem! Hows it? It's not fun to be served by a wife?" Nilam Temptation.
"What the hell is Mom?" Shady who was wearing a tie immediately reddened his face.
"Nola used to be so busy with her job that she didn't have time to take care of you. Now that you have Dea who can take care of you, then you should take advantage of it."
Shady looked at Nilam. "Mom, don't compare Nola with Dea. They're obviously different."
Shady stared at his mother's departure in silence. The phone made him come back.
"Hello..."
"Good morning, sir. Sorry to interrupt."
"It's okay. Hows it? Did you get anything?"
"Sorry, Sir. It all seems to find a dead end. We didn't even find surveillance footage on the streets around where the accident happened. Everything was clean and there was no trace."
Shady was silent for a moment.
"Master, it seems like we should start with the unexpected little thing."
"alright. Thank you for your hard work, Ron."
Shady hung up on her phone call. He immediately headed to the dining table where his mother and sister were already there. Shady stared at the fleeting Dea who was arranging the food on the table.
After breakfast, Dea prepared to tidy up the needs of Naura and herself to go to campus. Shady comes to Naura's room to meet Dea.
Dea who was about to leave the room was startled by Shady's presence.
"Mas Shady? Is there anything you need?" ask Dea.
"none. Are you going to college?"
"Yes, Mum."
"It! Wear it to go to college."
Shady hands Dea a car key.
"What's this?" Dea accepts.
"Wear to go to college. You don't have to be hot on public transport anymore."
Dea looked at Shady in wonder. "I can't drive a car, Mom. So I'm giving it back!" Dea returns the car keys but Shady refuses.
"Hold it and put it on!" Shady quickly passes without caring for Dea.
Dea's eyes glazed over seeing Shady's departure. "So you still think I was the driver in the accident, Mas? Was all the warmth of your attitude all along a fake?" lirih Dea with her chest.
...***...
Later that night, Shady asked Jamal, the family's private driver, who was cleaning the car.
"Hows it? Is he using his car?"
"No, Mister. Madam Dea returned the car keys to me. He said he couldn't drive. He'd rather ride in public transport, sir."
Shady growled in annoyance. But he can't do anything.
Meanwhile, in his room, Dea was pacing back and forth thinking about many things about his future. Dea doesn't want to continue being accused of things she didn't do. He also did not want to continue living in this house with Shady's accusations.
Dea decides to meet Shady who is in his study. Dea knocked on the door and then entered.
"Sorry to interrupt, Mom. We have something to talk about!" dea looked at Shady sitting at his desk.
"Speak!"
"I think we need to renew our marriage contract."
Shady crossed his arms and looked at Dea.
"I'll be out of here after I finish my studies in two years! After that our marriage is over, too."
Shady squinted his eyes. He could not believe that this innocent-looking girl dared to speak out in front of him.
"No problem. I'll change the deal" Shady replied lightly.
"And one more! If Mas still thinks I'm the driver of the car in the accident, then it's up to Mas. One thing you should know, I was there. I was in that car with my friend. I still regret it until now why I wanted to go with him that day. I should have been able to stop him when he was trying to speed on the street. I should have been able to prevent that accident! But I'm not God. I don't know what will happen that day. And everything has happened, so try to accept your destiny, ma'am."
Dea managed to catch her breath up and down after saying that long sentence in front of Shady. This is the first time Dea has spoken to Shady.
Dea came out of Shady's study holding her chest tight. Months of living together but all the charges are still attached to him.
"Lord! I want this to be over soon. I want this to end..." Jerit Dea in the heart.
