My Novel Antagonist is My Husband
Chapters 17. Healing

“Alissa, can't you help to heal Dad?” ask Theo. His face looked very hopeful for me. I looked back at him with mixed feelings. After the doctor's departure, I decided to go back to my own room, trying to come up with a new plan.

“My magic is not too strong yet, Sister, for diseases of the civilized class,” I replied.

“So, you already know how dangerous lamadur is?” Theo. I know more about Lamadur than Cass is older than me.

I nodded nervously. “Errrr, I read it in a book, it was time in the village,” answered me, made up a story. “From the book, I know that Father's illness can only be cured by high-powered light magic that only the priests of the royal temple next door.”

“Yes, I also heard about it at school,” Theo said. “But, we won't have time to take Dad there.”

“Then, how to now?” askaku.

Theo looked at me fixedly. “You are our only hope, because you can already make the transformation. You can, right, continue to hone your skills?”

“But, my sister heard that Mrs Rinia forbade me from going into Dad's room! I'm not part of this family, as he said!” I cried, reminding Theo of what his mother had just told me.

“’Nyonya’ ..?” Theo was confused when his mother, who was supposed to be my mother as well, I called Madam.

“He never thought of me, Brother. I have no right to call her Mother ...”

Theo was silent to my statement. I let out a breath. “Sister, I need to be near Dad in order to use Kyu magic. Can Brother Theo do something?”

Theo seemed to think for a moment, then he said, “I have an idea.”

Two days later, I was in a dark and narrow place. I sat curled up and folded my legs. All around me was a wall of animal skin. It feels crowded and hot, but I have to be able to survive. Before long, a glimmer of light appeared from the opened hole.

“Come out,” whispered Theo. He led me out of my hiding place. I was in Dad's room. I saw Duke Valcke lying helplessly on his king-size bed. His face looked pale white. It's been two days since the festival, Dad's been unconscious. These include early symptoms of lamadur disease.

I'm upset with myself. Why did I create such a difficult illness, anyway?!

“You okay, Miss? It must have been uncomfortable, hiding in a suitcase like that" asked the doctor.

I'm nodding. “It's okay, for Dad's sake.”

Yesterday, Theo managed to talk to Doctor Veil, the doctor who handled Dad, and invited him to work together to smuggle me into the room of the Valcke family's head. Theo did so without the Duchess's knowledge.

This morning, before Doctor Veil reached Valcke's residence, I promised to meet him down the road. Doctor Veil asked me to get into a large suitcase made of animal skin, and then bring the suitcase into the cabin. Then, Doctor Veil took me who was in a suitcase, into Valcke's residence. I don't know what happened after that. Apparently, Doctor Veil succeeded in making the Duchess believe that this was just a suitcase containing ordinary equipment on her.

Without needing to explain in words, I summoned Kyu from the spirit world. A circle of spells appeared next to where I was standing. Kyu jumped from within the circle, into my arms. How shocked Doctor Veil was when I did that.

To be honest, I don't want anyone else knowing Kyu's whereabouts, but Dad's recovery is a priority here. For the safety of Alissa Valcke in the future.

“We don't have much time,” I said. Doctor Valcke nodded quickly. I soon transformed with Kyu. My mystical beast melted, disappearing into my body. My hair bleached instantly, following the color of the fur on the head of Kyu. With this kind of transformation, I was able to cast magic right out of my palm.

Doctor Veil and Theo take out their respective mystical beasts from the spirit world. Doctor Veil also transformed with her pet rabbit. Both the doctor's earlobes immediately became long, like rabbit ears. At first glance, my transformation stage is almost on par with that of Doctor Veil. It's only natural that the doctor gasps to see what I can do. Early stage transformations can usually only be performed by adults.

Meanwhile, Theo was also on standby by Dad's side. His fire-berelemn beast was able to strengthen my stamina and Doctor Veil in order to survive and not be too exhausted from having to cast magic for a long time during my healing session. Theo looked proficient and familiar with the animal now, which he named Firio. Theo stood behind the animal's back, trying to drain the mana in his body to Firio so that the animal can still drain his magic on me and Doctor Veil continuously.

Then, the three of us began a healing ritual. Me and Doctor Veil cast a spell. From both of our palms came a radiance. The beam is directly directed at the Father's body pad, especially the part of the foot that starts first paralyzed. From the legs, move to the thighs, hands, back, to the head.

Everything is done thoroughly. Since I was working with Doctor Veil, we split the tasks, each handling the right and left sides of Duke Valcke's body.

After an hour, me, Theo, and Doctor Veil successfully completed the healing ritual. We three are exhausted. Theo was even slightly bored from being out of breath. For beginners, it does concentrate on the flow of mana as long as it will be draining.

Kyu and the rabbit belonging to Doctor Veil immediately came out from inside our respective bodies. They looked fine, although the mana in their bodies was also thinning. In transformation, indeed the human body will run out of stamina rather than the animal body.

“We suffice until here first,” said Doctor Veil. He took out a stethoscope, stuck it to Dad's chest. Kyu and the rabbit Doctor Veil have jumped back into the spell circle, towards the spirit world.

“The breathing rhythm of Duke Valcke has started to improve, unlike yesterday,” said the doctor, drawing conclusions.

“Then, when can Daddy be cured, doctor?” ask Theo expectantly.

Doctor Veil glared for a moment. “When smooth like this continues and is done every day, then there is a possibility that your father can be cured in six months.”

A glimmer of hope appeared on Theo's face. So do I. Theo came up to me and hugged me and said, “Thank you, Alissa!”

I could only fall silent in response to Theo's treatment. I feel happy, and I also feel guilty. I am the one who created Lamadur's disease, do I deserve this gratitude from Theo?

I should have apologized to him and to Duke Valcke's entire family for planning to eliminate the head of the family in my novel.
