Kailani replied with a nod of her head while sitting her butt on the woven bench directly across from where Kalvin was sitting. The woman seemed to wipe the sweat that soaked her forehead as a result of enduring pain and heat on the SC incision scar that began to sink as the effect of the pain killer she drank slowly disappeared.
"Kai, sorry I couldn't do much to hinder Karina's wishes this morning. I hope that in the future, such a thing will never happen again. Especially when there's Keiko." Kalvin began his talk carefully but surely.
"Why do you apologize, Vin? It's not your fault. I'm so grateful you can make Keiko not know about the incident." Kailani smiled faintly. A moment later the woman lowered her eyes.
"I don't have any children yet, but Keiko's age is a time when all the memories and values of life are firmly embedded in her. Karina and I had a very difficult time when we were not much different from Keiko. The quarrels after quarrels that had taken place between our parents, not to mention their quarrels with those who had alternately come to our house, forced Me and Karina to think many times more mature than our age."
Kailani ventured to reply to the glare of Kalvin's eyes that were so cute when he said a line of sentences earlier. The woman did not rush to respond. He chose to wait for the continuation of the story from Kalvin to the end.
"My age and Karina are only one year apart. Our childhoods were arguably our toughest. My father married Karina's mother. Not an ideal marriage, because it can be said they both leave their previous partners in order to legalize the forbidden relationship they have long lived behind their respective partners. My mother died during the divorce proceedings, and so did Karina's father." Calvin breathed so heavily. From the exhale, so obvious if childhood trauma still seems to imprint on the man.
"What can be expected of a relationship that doesn't start right? There will be no lasting happiness for those who have deliberately deprived others of their happiness. That's what my father and mother Karina experienced. Long story short, my dad died when I was ten. There's no family I have, inevitably, I'm living in the care of Karina's mother." Again Calvin paused the story just to set his breath so as not to bring too deep emotions of sadness.
"Karina's attitude now, is inseparable from the harshness of the life she lived in childhood. Mama Karina remarried several times after my father died. Not all children can accept the condition of parents is not ideal well. Plus, we get noticed only if we make a mistake. Attention is of course with yelling, anger and often with lashings."
Kailani digested well a bit of the past story of Kalvin and Karina. Now he began to understand the direction of Calvin's conversation. The man must be giving an understanding of why Karina's attitude can be like now. Someone who was very depressed in the past, then when he already feels in his comfort zone - suddenly aware of a threat - most will act aggressively without logic to maintain conditions he considers ideal.
"Karina's my brother, Kai. I'll be the front man protecting her. Even wrong, sometimes I had to close my eyes to follow his will. But that doesn't mean I didn't do anything. I'm looking for another way to straighten it back out."
Kailani nodded her head as Kalvin looked at her deeply - as if the man was asking for a response from his interlocutor.
Kailani certainly did not answer directly. The woman deliberately gave herself a pause to think for a moment. Considering the good is bad if he accepts or rejects Kalvin's request which sounds simple.
"It does not feel appropriate if I refuse a friendship invitation. Because we actually live to increase friends, not even add enemies. Like a good relationship, I don't want any coercion here. You asked me to be friends with Karina, I don't mind at all. However, if he is the one who refuses, please do not be forced. Making peace with someone we already hate is not easy. Not only the greatness of heart is needed, but also how our ability to lower prestige."
Kailani's response was so long, straightforward and firm, making Kalvin breathe a sigh of relief. Up here, he felt that he had not misjudged Kailani. The woman clearly had a heart as vast as the ocean. With the wounds that have been successfully scratched Karina, Kailani is still willing to open a friendship for the woman.
Not without reason Kailani accepted Kalvin's request. In addition to the belief about Karina's kindness that is still the same, Kailani also has another purpose of this friendship. The matter Karina would accept or not, was already taken into account by Kailani herself.
Meanwhile, Kailandra, who had just arrived at the hospital to ensure the condition of the baby twins, was surprised by the attitude of the mother who forbade her to meet with baby twins through a guard nurse in front of the room. A long debate ensued between the nurses and Kailandra. Obviously the man did not accept being treated that way. No one else has the right to a baby twins other than her. With a very reasoned threat, the very nurse finally gave up too. She can no longer prevent Kailandra from entering the special nursery baby twins.
"What did you mean to forbid Kai from meeting Kai's own children?" ask Kailandra as usual directly on the subject.
"Diminish your voice. This is the baby's room. There are two children whose ears must be guarded so as not to get used to hearing voices from inappropriate people" said Love.
"Ma, what does mama mean? Not worthy of your mother's word? They're Kai's kids. Mama's more appropriate speech and attitude is said to be inappropriate," denied Kailandra.
Love pulled Kailandra's hand and invited the only son to speak outside the room. "Why aren't you being honest with your mom that the mother of baby twins is Kailani? Forgot what that woman did? Have you started to fall asleep with her seduction?" his pedicab.
