"Basic bearer of doom!!!" one of the women who surrounded the child.
"Yes!! You better just die! Ever since you came, this village has been plagued by misfortune!!" added a man who was there too. His eyes filled with the anger of the little boy who did not move in the slightest.
The boy did not reply to the words of the villagers who continued to curse and corner him. Standing still in his place, his two green eyes stared at the villagers surrounding him emotionlessly.
"You want what you? Want to curse us?!" ask the man just now. His tone grew even higher, and he clenched his hands firmly.
The boy remained silent staring at all of them.
"Don't look at us like that!!" raising his right hand, the man and slapping the little boy's cheek.
The little boy remained motionless despite receiving a slap on his cheek. There was no expression of pain or fear on his face. Warming his face towards the villagers, his green eyes remained emotionless.
"I said don't look at me like that!!" shouting full of anger, the man once again raised his hand to hit the child in front of him. However, before his hand touched the boy, Apple had stood at the side catching the hand and stopped the action.
The villagers there were very surprised to see the apple, as well as the little boy.
"Who are you? Release my hand?!" shouting loudly, the man whose hand was captured Apple looked at him full of anger.
The apple neither answered the man's question nor let go of his hand. He was silent as usual without expression.
Seeing the attitude of the Apples, anger filled the villagers. They did not like his sudden intervening attitude. The white cloth that closed his eyes made him look like a blind man, therefore, without fear, some of the villagers came forward wanting to attack. Suddenly, their footsteps stopped. Looking at him who was standing motionlessly, suddenly fear enveloped their hearts. Not knowing why, they all felt better not to look for trouble with the young man.
The man whose hand was captured Apple immediately walked away as soon as his hand was free, as well as the villagers who were there. Their faces looked dissatisfied, yet they also did not dare to resist.
Suddenly one of the villagers who walked away turned around and looked at Apple. "That child is the bearer of doom, you better not approach it."
The apple did not care what the villagers said. Quietly on the spot, he had just stepped away from the place when he felt the situation had calmed down. However, just a few steps he took, he could feel the little boy who was the target of the anger of the villagers following him. "Don't follow me." Flat language.
The child's footsteps stopped hearing Apple's words. However, a moment later, his feet continued to follow.
Apple did not say anything anymore, he did not stop the child, but he did not care at once. Walking towards the pasture that had dried up and turned yellow not far from the village, he laid his body.
The little boy who followed Apple walked over and sat down beside him. Staring at the face of Apple that was blindfolded, he did not say anything. However, his mind was quite confused. Usually, people would stay away from him if they heard he was a bearer of doom, as well as the one who helped him when he was oppressed. They will only be kind at first, after knowing what he can do, they will fear, hate and stay away from him.
Staring at the Apple continued, the little boy knew, Apple was the young man who had walked this morning with a coat full of bloodstains towards this village, and this young man was no ordinary person. There was something strange to her—something dark and horrible. However, he was not at all afraid of her, as he also knew, although this young man did not give any reaction to her—he would not deny her existence. This young man would not be afraid despite knowing what he could do.
Closing both his green eyes, the little boy also lay on the dry grass. His right hand fearlessly and hesitantly grumbled tightly at the end of the Apple clothes.
The apple did not move nor stop what the boy was doing, he let him do what he wanted. Not long after that he could clearly hear the soft snoring sound of the little boy beside him.
......................
The blonde-haired little boy opened his green eyes as the morning sun shone on him. Shocked to find Apple not beside him anymore, he immediately looked around, hoping to find the young man. However, as far as his eyes could see, he did not find it.
Rising from his place, without wasting any time, he immediately ran towards the village. Running as fast as his legs could, he decided to head for the inn within the village. In the Sangrath village only had one inn, therefore, the young man must have been in that inn.
Entering the village, he who was running did not care about his surroundings accidentally bumped into one of the villagers.
"Who hit—" shouted the man who was hit by the little boy annoyed. However, as soon as he saw who hit him, anger filled his heart. "You again!! You bad-tempered child!!"
The man's loud shout made the villagers gather to see what was happening.
The boy did not care about the cries of anger. His mind was now only full of the young man he met yesterday. However, just as he wanted to run away from the place, the man he hit pulled his shirt. "You've done enough to wreak havoc here! We won't let you be in this village anymore!"
"If we drive him out of here, what if he comes back?—or, what if he curses us all like what he usually does?" said the other villagers.
"Then we burn him. If we burn him to death, he won't be able to curse us again."
"Really! Burn him!"
"Yes, that's right! Just burn this child of calamity!!"
"Burn! Burn it! Burn it!" the villagers shouted together.
The little boy was shocked upon hearing what the villagers were shouting. His face paled, he knew very well what these villagers were saying was neither a bluff nor a lie—they were really going to burn him alive.
Forcibly dragging the little boy in his hand, the man who was now leading the villagers stepped towards the field in the middle of the village. Their faces were all full of determination, and they believed their village would be free from all misfortune if the child disappeared.
"Burn! Burn it! Burn it!!"
......................
"The four horses are the best and fastest horses in the village. I hope I don't disappoint you all." Obviously the innkeeper with a smile to Apple, Fedrick, Calix and Map.
Calix examined the four horses. The four horses had sturdy bodies and strong legs, no doubt these horses were indeed the flagship horses. However, something was troubling his mind, these four horses looked extremely agitated and frightened.
"Are you sure these two horses are okay? Why do they look so scared?" ask Calix to the innkeeper.
The innkeeper scratched his head. But, he kept a smile on his face "I don't know. These horses have never behaved like this. When I brought her here at dawn, they were still fine. I guess they just haven't adapted to the new place. Trust me, mr—this is truly the best horse in the village."
"Are you sure?" ask Calix again. He felt the innkeeper was just making up excuses to convince him.
"When do you want to talk about those two horses in front of you?" Sela Apple suddenly surprised Calix.
"Apel, I don't want our journey to be hampered because of kud—" Calix replied quickly. However, his speech came to a halt as soon as he saw the villagers walking past them while dragging a small child into the village square.
"Burn! Burn it!"
"Free our village from misfortune!"
"Burn!!"
Despite not knowing what happened, but from what the villagers shouted Sangrath, Apple, Fedrick, Calix and Peta knew, what they wanted to do.
Fedrick and Calix immediately ran towards the crowd of villagers. However, the owner of the inn quickly pulled up his clothes and stopped them both, "Don't, sir," he said quickly filled with panic. "Don't help the kid—let it. The boy is a bearer of doom. Just let the villagers do what they want."
Fedrick and Calix turned their faces to look at the innkeeper in anger upon hearing his words. In front of them right now was a little boy about to be burned alive, and the owner of this inn told them to let it go and see it happen?
"Get your hands off!" calix's orders were full of anger.
Seeing the angry faces of Fedrick and Calix, the innkeeper let go of his hand "Don't try to help him, sir," he said slowly. As one of the villagers, he clearly knew why the child was labeled as a bearer of doom. "Over the years, whoever helps the child will surely have bad luck or worse—kath."
Fedrick and Calix didn't care what the innkeeper said. The two of them and also Peta immediately ran towards the village field, whereas for Apple, he just walked following them from behind.
