The Adventure of the Kecapi

The Adventure of the Kecapi
Chapter 56

After all, they are our own people, so don't just kill them. Our main enemy is the Mongol invaders. If we have succeeded in eliminating the invaders, I am sure the lives of our people will be improved and crime will be reduced" Liu Ceng said.

"Sister Yauw, how about we meet the Mongol Empire army? What are you gonna do?" asked Liu Hong who was staring at Yauw Lie.

"It would be foolish to attack such a large army, which is suicide. But if there is a small army bothering us, we should exterminate them." replied Yauw Lie who did not just talk to express his hostility to the Mongol Government.

On their way, whenever they were in a city or village where there were arbitrary Mongol dignitaries heard, the girl must have intervened giving a loud chastisement.

The three young men arrived at the Southern part of the Snake cobra college. The day had come to dusk when they entered a hamlet near the cobra college. The village is quite crowded and has a lot of residents.

The hamlets that they passed through all this time consisted of small and quiet hamlets. And now they enter a fairly large and crowded hamlet, and there is a inn following the restaurant.

Upon arrival in front of the inn, Liu Hong jumped down from his horse, followed by Yauw Lie and Liu Ceng.

The three servants of the inn immediately welcomed and took care of the three horses they had brought to the stables in the back yard of the inn. The inn did have many servants to serve the traders who stayed there. A half-old servant greeted them with a respectful and friendly attitude.

"Welcome to our inn, young master and lady. Do you want to rent a room?" ask the waiter.

"Yes, quickly prepare an ordinary room and a rather large one for me and my Mrs, but choose the cleanest room, replace all the mattresses with new and clean ones!" liu Hong said in a loud and commanding manner.

"Alright, young master and miss, we will prepare now," said the maid in a respectful manner.

Liu Hong then took a piece of money from behind his belt and gave it to the servant. The servant received with wide eyes because this gift was very much and unlike usual the guests gave gifts after leaving the inn.

"Don't forget, provide plenty of water for us to bathe, after that prepare dinner with complete side dishes from the restaurant," Liu Hong ordered.

"Well, we will prepare everything" said the maid, who brought them both empty rooms. He ordered the other servants to immediately change the mattresses in the two rooms, even telling them to clean the floor and all the furniture in the two rooms.

The three young men then took a bath and exchanged clothes, and they ate the dishes that had been prepared.

"Well, you're so royal brother Hong! and you drink a lot of wine. But I see that you are not mad at all!" yell Liu Ceng.

"Ih, brother Ceng, if the prince of Snake Island is drunk by wine, what a shame! Do not you also not seem to be drunk at all after drinking enough? Look at Yauw's sister! his face was red like a boiled crab, he..he..he....!" reply Liu Hong.

Yauw Lie, who was red in the face for serving two very strong young men, drank the wine.

"Hc ..ha...! of course I cannot match you, when I was a child and a teenage girl, I lived among hermits and priests, absolutely not allowed to drink wine. You two are certainly strong drinkers. Brother Ceng is a medicine expert, of course, you have swallowed the medicine of the savage guard before, as well as you, brother Hong. Snake Island is famous for its dangerous poisons, of course you can overcome the influence of poison arak which for you is small is meaningless!" yauw Lie said and from his light voice, the two young men could tell that the girl was already drunk.

The two of them laughed even though Liu Ceng's laughter was not as wide and as loud as Liu Hong's.

"Sorry, sister Yauw, we're just joking, not laughing at you!" liu Hong said.

The next day they were informed that on the hill in front, namely Skull Hill, there was a Red Stick Beggar's Association center.

Then the three of them packed up to continue their journey. Because the Red Stick Beggar could be one among the powerful faction and might become a treasure thief, so they decided to investigate the beggar's association, which is famous for having branches everywhere.

Early in the morning the three young people had come out of the inn and were on the public road in front of the inn and the restaurant. Earlier, they had breakfast porridge prepared by the waiter.

Meanwhile, the public road in front of the inn was already crowded with people passing by. They are the ones who carry the merchandise of the produce of the land.

As they stood on the side of the road, looking towards the hill of skulls which according to the description became the headquarters of the beggars, they saw a group of people dressed in patchwork, beggar clothes, flocking away towards the east.

They consisted of five people dressed in patches and each holding a red stick. It was easy for Yauw Lie to suspect that the five of them were certainly the pride of the red stick beggars.

Since they were intending to visit and investigate the state of the beggar's society, the five men caught their attention. With just a glance, the three agreed to shadow the five beggars.

The age of five was between thirty and forty years. Even among them, the three were thin like most beggars, while the two were mediocre, but they were very different from ordinary beggars.

Their clothes are patchy, but clean and easy to guess that they certainly often exchange clothes. Their black shoes were also not butut like ordinary beggars.

Their movements as they walked in haste imagined that they were people who were not weak. Especially their red staff was striking and made them look more like a squad dressed in uniform than a beggar.

Also their presence in the bustling hamlet seems to have not attracted the attention of people passing by on public roads, at all, this indicates that the presence of beggars in the hamlet is common.

The calm attitude of the people who saw them proved that the beggars were not feared.

This led Yauw Lie and the two young men to conclude that the red stick beggars were not the ones who liked to act on their strength as many other members of the society did.
