The coat was tightened because the air was so cold, Cristal stepped along the sidewalk to get to the bus stop. At that time it showed at three in the morning, Cristal had just come out of the night club because it was the end of his working hours.
The bus was not there that early but he would wait for a taxi there. Cristal continued to step but somehow he felt that someone was following in his footsteps. Cristal looked over, damn it. Some of the men seemed to follow in his footsteps.
He felt something was wrong what else he was often terrorized by debt collectors. The coat is back tightened, Cristal's steps are getting faster. He hopes a taxi will pass, he should wait in front of the club. The men who followed him also accelerated their rarer, Cristal getting scared, he started running. The men chased after him so Cristal grew even more afraid.
Cristal crossed the road quickly, whoever they were he should be able to escape. Next time he will go home with the others so that something like this does not happen again. Cristal continued to run with all his might while stopping a passing taxi, although the opposite direction but it did not matter because safety was more important.
A taxi stopped, Cristal entered quickly and asked the driver for a walk. He looked relieved, Cristal even turned to look at the men who were no longer chasing but they were cursing furiously. Today it failed, but there is still another time. Cristal really did not suspect who was after him and thought that they were debt collectors.
Tired, that was how he felt after arriving home. Cristal immediately fell on the sofa and slept there due to the tremendous fatigue he felt but the small hand that rubbed his face and the sweet smile of his daughter made the fatigue disappear.
"Why is Mommy sleeping here?" Angela lay down at her mother's side and hugged her.
"Mommy's exhausted, honey," her hand was in Angela's hair, stroking her and a kiss landed on her daughter's forehead.
"Why did Daddy leave us, Mom?"
"Darling, age no one knows. We don't know when the closest people are going."
"Didn't Grandma know either?" ask Angela again innocently.
"Of course, why did Angela ask that?"
"When Daddy leaves, Mommy has to work and always comes home for the night. Why is Daddy so desperate to leave us so soon and make Mommy trouble?"
Cristal was silent, how could his three-year-old daughter ask like that?
Her mother-in-law who heard Angela's question silently cried. Guilt filled the heart because Cristal had to bear it all alone. Honestly he also did not expect his son would die so quickly and leave behind a lot of debt. His son could only make life difficult for Cristal alone and now, he was also complicating Cristal's life. But what can he do? He has no one left but his son-in-law and granddaughter.
"Darling, you don't have to think about such a thing. Work is Mommy and Angela's duty enough to be a good boy. Mommy's gonna buy Angela a pizza. You want to, don't you?"
"Really, Mom?" Angela looks happy because she hasn't eaten pizza in a long time.
"Yes, tell me what Angela wants, today Mommy will buy her but before that, go take a shower because soon the school bus will come."
"Horary... Angela will take a shower immediately and think about what Angela wants," Angela kisses her mother's cheek and after that she runs towards her room.
Cristal smiled and sat on the sofa, she also yawned from drowsiness. It seems like working at a nightclub is not enough, than in time to be wasted at home during the day it is better for him to find additional work so that his income increases.
After Angela's departure, her mother-in-law approached Cristal and sat by her side. Cristal took her bag and took out the medicine for her mother-in-law because she thought her mother-in-law wanted the medicine.
"Medicine, Mom," he said.
Cristal scrunched his forehead, talk? Does her mother-in-law know what she's doing right now?
"Mo-Mommy wants to talk what?"
"I've been thinking about this, Cristal. Alvin suddenly died without cause and left so much debt that your life became difficult. I don't know what the money is for he even used your name when borrowing money so you have to bear money that you never enjoy at all. You're in terror because of what he did and me, I'm also complicating your life because of my illness so I thought?"
"Mom," Cristal hugged her mother-in-law from the side.
"Alvin has left me and Angela, is Mommy going to leave us too?" she asked because she knew what her mother-in-law was going to say.
"I don't want to complicate your life, honey."
"I know Mommy won't bother me but where will Mommy go? I really need Mommy and Angela too. He just asked me why Alvin left us and if Mommy left us too, what answer should I give him?"
"But my illness will only make your life difficult, Cristal," tears have flowed, and he will not make life more difficult for his daughter-in-law than this.
"I don't feel that way, I'm going to look for extra work so I can earn more money. Mommy doesn't need to think about this, I just want Mommy to take care of Mommy's health. I'm gonna take Mommy to the hospital for a check-up so Mommy can't mind much."
"Do you have the money?" ask her mother-in-law.
"Of course, someone gave me some pretty good tips last night" Cristal smiled. As much as possible she did not want her mother-in-law to think about it. Nor would she let her mother-in-law go because she knew, her mother-in-law had no other right to take shelter other than the house they currently occupied.
"I'm really lucky to have a daughter-in-law like you. Hope you get some happiness soon, dear."
Cristal smiled, the thing that made him happy was the smile of his daughter and the health of his mother-in-law. He will try to keep his daughter's smile from going away and he will also try to make things better. As long as he had the ability to work, then he would do anything to earn money other than steal and sell his body.
Angela is ready to go to school, breakfast made by her mother-in-law has also been served. Cristal accompanied her daughter to breakfast before she went back to sleep. The school bus had come to pick up the children who were in the housing after they had finished breakfast.
Cristal drove his daughter to a bus not so far away, it was an activity he always did every day.
"Home school Mommy and Grandma will pick you up so be a good boy" Cristal said.
"Yes, Mommy. Angela was already impatient," Angela smiled sweetly.
"Enjoy your day, dear," Cristal gives a kiss on her daughter's cheek before Angela gets on the school bus.
Her daughter mingled with her friends who were on the bus, she looked elated. Cristal smiled and waved his hand. He didn't leave until the school bus left. Cristal's smile was still fluffy but the smile was gone when he saw three men not far from him.
Cristal immediately turned the pace, damn it. Are they debt collectors who chased him last night? Cristal ran in a hurry to get inside the house. He stood in front of the window to see if the three men were chasing or not but it turned out that they were leaving.
Breaths of relief were exhaled, maybe they were just residents living in that house. He seems to think too much. Cristal stepped inside the room while yawning, preferably she slept and did not think about it but unfortunately, the three men were another danger to her.
