I saw the kingdom of Britannia for the last time, I will not be back here for a long time and maybe I will miss it a little.

In some places, my heart felt an inexplicable pain during my separation with Yuri.

I shook my head and focused on my goal. My destination was a small village in the eastern region.

From what I heard, the village was in a state of chaos due to the attack of a monster that had wings with the body of a lion, the tail of a scorpion and the head of an eagle that might be more familiarly called a manticore.

Manticore often attacked people and livestock from the village. Even though they had already submitted a conquest quest to the guild, there had yet to be any adventurers trying to conquer it.

Manticore is different from other monsters. He's a monster that has intelligence though not as smart as a dragon.

Manticores tend to be nocturnal, where everyone is asleep, and sometimes they use small traps to trap people.

Other than his intelligence and cunning, he is also a powerful monster, this fight will not be easy even for me who is a hero.

The distance is quite far, it took me 2 days to get to the pedati even though it would be easier for me to use teleportation,

But the use of teleportation only allows you to move to places you have visited and marked.

By pulling the pedicure, it will help me disguise myself as a traveling merchant. I only brought some clothes, food and drinks as well as some potions.

In the middle of my journey, I saw a young man who looked the same age as me who was panting. He was wearing chest armor and there was a sword on his waist.

'Is it possible that he is an adventurer?' thought Takumi.

Then, he waved his hand at me as if he wanted me to stop. Without a word, I stopped right in front of him.

"What do you want?"

takumi asked coldly.

"Bo-Can I ride with you, sir?" he said gasping.

I looked around to see if anyone else was around. If anything, it was most likely that this brat was a bandit.

After a few moments of looking, there was no one around.

"Get it."

Takumi said as he extended his hand.

The boy received a helping hand and climbed onto Takumi's pedicure.

"Thank you, sir."

"Yes. By the way what makes you so breathless?"

Takumi asked curiously.

"This is my first day as an adventurer. I took the Quest to kill some goblins because I thought they were just stupid and weak creatures.

When I managed to kill some, they ran into the forest and I chased after them and to his surprise I got into their trap and got surrounded."

"Then, how did you get away from them unharmed?"

"Well, I was lucky to have a scroll that contained blinding light elements, so I used it and somehow managed to avoid their anger safely."

He leaned back and laughed. Takumi laughed amusedly listening to the young man's story.

"By the way are you also an adventurer, ee..."

The young man was confused.

"Call me, Takumi." said Takumi. "Why do you think that I'm an adventurer?" Ask Takumi.

I should have looked like a merchant rather than an adventurer. I have shrunk my spear to be invisible.

"Ah, then call me, Bell. I think you're an adventurer because, uh,

you sit with an upright posture and you are not stingy like the merchants in general.

She smiles.

Takumi was slightly startled and started to chuckle.

"Where are you going, Takumi?"

"I want to go to a small village in the east. There are some things I want to do."

I nodded in response.

"Then can I ride there? That village is where I live, I know the fastest and safest route to get there."

Bell and I both smiled. We talked about some things until unknowingly the sky had darkened and we decided to camp in the surrounding forest.

I gathered some dry wood to burn and prepared dinner for us. Bell collected the firewood I took and muttered the spell

A small fire came out from his index finger and he burned the dry wood until the fire was created.

"Whoa, can you use fire magic?"

Ask Takumi.

"yes, I can use some kind of magic."

Bell embarrassedly scratched his head.

We had finished eating, we were warming ourselves near the campfire.

"Well, Bell. Why did you choose to be an adventurer as your job?"

Ask Takumi.

Bell was silent for a moment. There was only the sound of wind blowing and wood burning. Then, he started talking.

"Well, this isn't a good story to tell. But all right, I'll tell you why."

Bell smiled at Takumi and began to tell him his reasons for being an adventurer.

"When I was a kid, my mom always told me a story about heroes.

Heroes are brave, they fight to protect humans and their loved ones,

They exterminated many powerful monsters in order to protect the people and the country regardless of their lives.

At first I admired the heroine as much as in my mother's story. But everything changed that day."

Bell's face turned into deep anger and hatred.

"At that time, at night a band of bandits attacked my village. They killed, chopped up my villagers and made them monster food.

When the bandits came I hid in the underground attic. My mom said that she'd be okay but. In front of my eyes,

They raped my mother and sister in turn right in front of my eyes. Worst of all, they made my mom monster food

While they're taking my sister."

"I could only hide in fear. I sincerely hope that the hero will appear to save us."

"I think that they're not like the heroes in the story, they're just a bunch of selfish people."

"And for that reason I became an adventurer in order to accumulate many achievements and become strong. Maybe this sounds childish"

"But I aspire to be a hero like my mother told me. A figure who would throw away his life for the happiness of people."

I kept quiet while listening to Bell's story, even though it was over. He's not wrong about heroes being selfish.

I even went wandering for the sake of my own selfishness to become strong and kill that damn demon.

What kind of reaction Bell would show if he found out that I was one of those selfish heroes.

"Although your childish mind is what matters most is your goal and what you want to achieve at the end.

I think your goal of making a lot of people happy is not something to laugh about. If that time comes, I want you to buy me a drink."

Takumi hit Bell's chest softly. Bell had a surprised face, his eyes sparkling with tears and he smiled.

"You're right. It's dark how about we go to sleep?"

Takumi smiled and nodded accepting Bell's suggestion. Nothing happened, so we enjoyed a peaceful sleep with no distractions and prepared to leave in the morning.
