The Lovers of the Charge of Master Samuel

The Lovers of the Charge of Master Samuel
The Missing Baby

A woman was lying in the hospital in a state of concern. His body looked thin, his face was pale and there was no more hair on his head. Infusion hose stuck in the arm, the middle-aged woman was already on the verge of death because she already did not have much time left. Other than the weakly lying woman, a man was also inside the room but he appeared to be talking to someone.

The look of the woman's eyes was empty, a burst of regret emanating from her pale face. In the rest of the time he had, there were only regrets that he felt as a result of the past that could not be changed. Now, all he needed was one chance and a miracle before he died, leaving that mortal world behind.

"Have you not confirmed it yet?" the man in the room asked someone who was talking to him over the phone.

"I've tried, but the information about him is still gray. I've been following her but it's hard to talk to her even now I've got word if she's going to Paris."

"The paris? Did he go alone or with a friend?"

"It seems like her lover because they're always together."

"Well, go to Paris and find out!"

"Good, Sir."

The man, end the conversation. He is Alfredo Bartolo. He is a Spanish man who married a woman of European descent named Diana. The unpleasant incident they experienced when they visited Brazil, where their baby girl vanished while they were attending a party. Alfredo was a businessman, he had many business rivals at the time but no one knew who kidnapped their baby girl. The nurse they believed in also disappeared, there was no trace and no witnesses at all. Her daughter just disappeared along with her nurse.

Every effort has been made, detective or whatever they put in. The wasted energy and the money spent were countless but they did not give up either. Decades of relentless searching until they finally get the information if decades ago, a head abbot who presided in the orphanage St. Anna finds a baby girl in front of the orphanage. Although that is highly unlikely, the odds are zero as the orphanage is in London, while their daughter is missing in Brazil. Alfredo kept sending people to find out. For decades they searched, not once did they waste the opportunity because they hoped, their chance came to find their lost daughter.

The situation got worse because Diana was very ill. The uterine cancer she suffered had reached the final stage, her life was not long but their missing daughter had not yet been found. At least one last wish, he wanted to see his daughter's face before she died. Whether or not he will get the chance, no one really knows because the messenger they sent to London has not yet found a bright spot about the baby girl found by Sister Agnes.

"How, Alfred? Was the nun found our daughter?" diana asked as her husband walked up to her and sat by her side. Alfred's old face looked tired, the condition of his body was no longer what it used to be because he was also old.

"It's still uncertain whether he found our daughter or not" although it's not certain, but he doesn't look desperate because he wants his wife to have a spirit even above a speck of hope.

"Aren't I ever going to see Estelle again, Alfred? We shouldn't have left her then, I shouldn't have attended that party with you and looked after our daughter!" regret was again seen on Diana's face that had withered like a flower in the afternoon.

"Don't say that, it's not your fault. There must be a chance for us, God is all fair and I'm sure we definitely have a chance to meet our daughter!"

"My time isn't much, Alfred. If I die, you can't stop looking for our daughter."

"No, I promised you I'd find our daughter so you can't give up on your illness. I heard that she went to Paris with her boyfriend. I'll go there and see her in person to see if she's our daughter or not."

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" said Diana.

"No way, you can't go anywhere. Wait for me here, I'll take her home to meet you even if she's not our daughter to make sure."

"No way, Alfred. I can't wait, what if I die while you're gone? Even if I don't meet our daughter but I want to die by your side so you have to take me along. If she is our daughter, I can definitely feel her because I am her mother so don't leave me" Diana pleaded. It had been a long time since they had searched, looking for their missing daughter when she was not even a year old and now, there was such good news, how could she possibly waste it?

Alfredo sighed, he could not resist because it could have been his wife's last request and worse, his wife died while he was away. Don't make mistakes that make him regret for the rest of his life. He's lost his daughter, lest his wife dies he's not by his side and it could make him regret for a lifetime.

"Replease, Alfred. Had she not been our daughter, I would not have been angry. I know you've been trying so hard to find Estelle for decades but let me come along to make sure."

"Alright, but I have to get a permit from the hospital. I'll take care of it first."

"What's? What if I lose track?"

"No need to worry, I've sent people to follow and watch him. I'll get permission right away so we can go straight to see if she's our daughter or not!"

Diana nodded, this time she desperately hoped that the quest they had done would pay off even though the odds were one in ten but she hoped, that one percent would be a hundred percent. Let's just hope there's a miracle for those who've been searching for their missing daughter for a long time and of course what they mean is Scarlet, the baby discovered by Sister Agnes.

The news they just got a moment ago, looking for their baby who disappeared for decades is not easy because of that, Alfredo immediately sent someone to find out about the news of the baby they heard but unfortunately, the baby was already big and had grown into a beautiful woman who did not live in an orphanage anymore. If Scarlet had not returned to the orphanage back then, it was possible that Alfredo's envoys would not have known of her whereabouts.

Either Scarlet is really their daughter or not, they have to make sure and they're going to leave Spain for Paris to meet in person with Scarlet who could have been their daughter and could not have been.
