[POV Diana]
‘Skill: detection’ area
“Ah, over there! Meet you, squirrels suck! Hiyaaaat!”
“Clang.”
“What? Missed again?!”
“Stupid basis! I've told you many times, estimate the motion from the achievement! You think there will be living things that just stay still when threatened with danger?! Think of all the possibilities!”
“Sorry, Master.”
“Hah! As the punishment, do hand jump a hundred more times!”
“Good, Master.”
Such was the harshness of the day-to-day training I had with the Guild Master Scout. At first I thought that scout was just a class that served as a frontline scout. But apparently I was wrong.
The scout class is a class of all-rounders, no, precisely babu serbabisa.
We had to prepare everything on the ground early and maturely compared to the rest of the party, starting from the installation of traps, identifying the area whether it was free from enemy traps, he said, predict the treatment of both monsters and nature itself, find the nearest resting location and where there are health and recovery resources, and many more babu tasks to do.
“Ah, the training is so tiring.”
I subconsciously complained in the middle of that break. Training for 8 hours non-stop every day with only 3 breaks, even then only for no more than 10 minutes. Really, really exhausting training.
However, it's not entirely unpleasant. One day the Master praised me,
“You've developed well, Diana. Now, you are no longer a maggot who can do nothing. Now you deserve to be a cockroach that can survive in extreme situations. However, you are still weak in terms of strength so you still have a lot to practice, at least until you can be stronger than chicken.”
For some reason, my feelings of pleasure to hear a compliment that some people might find ambiguous whether it is really a compliment or a humiliation. Obviously, my feelings are good because my hard work feels appreciated and that is enough for me.
Of course it's not just that. Now my detection skill has grown so much. Although my detection radius did not develop at 2 km, I have now been able to distinguish the position of the object up to the realm of 20 cm.
Yes, I can now detect the position of small agile animals like squirrels very well. However, for animals such as ants and other animals the size of it as can be done by Brother Andra, I still need a lot of practice again.
However, even though my detection skills have increased to the level that I myself can to boast about, including trap-setting skills, remote viewing, and various other support-type skills typical of scout, among others, I am still weak in terms of agility which should be a mandatory requirement of a scout.
Not only that, my attack power is also still very weak. Although basically the scout attack power is weak, but I can feel for myself that my own attack power is still much weaker than the average value that is already weak.
There are still many things that I need to fix my shortcomings. However, I could feel that the daily training with the Master was actually gradually correcting my shortcomings.
But today, suddenly the Master said that to me,
“I'm sorry, Diana. For the next few days, I won't be able to train you first about me having to go on a long-term mission.”
I'm disappointed. But of course I did not show my disappointed face in front of Master. It is precisely in times like these that I really have to show my attitude as a good student by walking him through a smile.
“Be careful on the road, Master.” I said with a smile. However, the sadness of separation even if it is only for a while is completely inevitable.
But I remained strong.
There's nothing I can do about the Master's mission. But at least from a distant place, I can pray for his safety hope that the game developer's story does not do anything in the storyline of Guild Master Scout, hopefully the game developer, Deborah Briar and returned it to me safely.
You see, the figure of NPC Deborah Briar has become one of the important figures that occupy the niches of my heart, ignoring her is real or not.
In the training break that somehow reached that point, I also reported everything to my guild master who had introduced me to a great NPC figure like Master. Even the guild master, Luca, my plain old friend, but on the one hand he can be very serious about something that is not even considered important by others, welcomes me warmly.
Based on Luca's statement, they were investigating the peculiarities of the monster movement in the Melodia Kingdom. Apparently, the game's main storyline is now entering a story where chaos between the three kingdoms of Lalania Empire, Symphonia Kingdom, and Melodia Kingdom is about to occur.
I took him to a quiet room. I had bad thoughts about him that made me feel guilty afterwards for thinking about the indecent thing. Luca does look innocent and kind from the outside, but who knows if it turns out that it is just a mask, because sometimes he always does suspicious things without the knowledge of others. That's what makes me doubt it a little.
But what was in the room was a warm welcome from the five other extra guild members who had been waiting for my return since they knew I was coming home through Luca I called earlier.
‘Sorry, Luca, have thought nothing of you.’ I can only apologize internally to that innocent young man.
I also saw with them the figure of the extra guild tournament victory cup. Unbeknownst to me, apparently the extra guild I was in had grown that strong until it could become the number one guild in this The Last Gardenia game. Well, even though it is just a small competition between extra guilds that does not involve rankers who prefer to live alone in the game.
However, I am happy for their achievements, although I cannot hide that I am a little envious of not being able to contribute to the tournament.
“Oh yes, friends. Because Diana has joined us, starting today the newbie team will start team cooperation training. Brother Andra, Lia, please support him also yes.”
Luca suddenly spoke like that.
“Take it easy, Luca. Me and Andra will make sure that the five of you will be a team that is composted.”
So true said Lia accompanied by a smile. How can I not feel goosebumps because of it.
“Oh yes, within three days, Keporin's brother, Dimitri's sister, Blanche's sister, Derickson's sister, and Heine's sister have promised to be our match trainers. So before that, let's train as hard as we can until the last drop of our sweat.”
“Yosh.”
“Yosh.”
“Yosh.”
Such sudden information, suddenly conveyed by Luca as if nothing with enthusiasm. Not only is she the one who is excited, but also Sister Nina. Brother Raia, and even Chika got excited with him with the sudden development of the plot.
But wait, something seems wrong.
“Anu, Luca. Don't you think Keporin, Dimitri, and Derickson are the main NPCs involved in the main storyline in the game?”
“Hmm. That's right.”
What the hell is this guild master of ours just talking about?! I don't know who Blanche is or Heine who to my knowledge is just a non-combatant type NPC, but it's different with Keporin, Dimitri, and Derickson. They were a line of high-level NPCs that had overpowering power.
Does Luca really think that a party formed by a newbie player like us can defeat a line of great NPCs like them? Don't practice sparring, we'll just be a sandbag for them.
But since both the guild master including the other members were already very excited, I could only blend in that atmosphere and decided to do my best with them.
But more than anything, I was also curious, to where I am and the team has progressed and to what extent we will be able to defend against that line of NPCs.
“Let our friends seek victory.”
“Yosh.”
“Yosh.”
“Yosh.”
But apparently, instead of thinking about how far we could go, they all really believed we could win. I can only shake my head because of it. Either I should be amazed or feel sorry for the innocence of the guild master.
But because they suddenly saw me as if also waiting for my determination, shyly, I also said, too,
“Y.. Yosh.”
