The Substitute Woman on the First Night

The Substitute Woman on the First Night
The more Confident

Happy reading!

After meeting accidentally at the pharmacy, I also invite Fadhly to talk for a while at a cafe that happens to be right next to him. Although it's a doubt, but I think it's important to ask Fadhly about his meeting with Mas Denis' assistant.

"Fadh, I'm sorry I was so careful I could hit you." I said it after we occupied one of the tables that was in the corner of the room. We also sat across from each other.

I saw him start smiling. Still looking at me just like before. The unblinking look made me feel uncomfortable.

"Please don't look at me like that!" I covered my face with both hands.

"Eh yes, sorry yes. My feelings are normal, but somehow when I see you, I'm always fascinated."

I'm not like most women who can flower immediately when a man praises me, unless that man is Mas Denis, my own husband.

"Oh yeah, how are you?" the question was trying to melt the atmosphere after I showed an uncomfortable gesture due to her praise.

"This is how I am healthy. How about yourself? Are you sick again until you buy the drugs to the pharmacy?" my answer ended a question and no longer covered my face.

"It's just vitamins, Lissa. I'm perfectly healthy. By the way how's your marriage with Denis, are you happy?"

Suddenly Fadhly asked me that, which surprised me. He seemed to know if my household with Mas Denis was not going well at the moment. However, it was hard to read what the question meant. "Of course I'm happy. Why why?"

"You don't lie, Lissa!" With a slight press of his words, Fadhly seemed convinced that what he was thinking was right.

"I'm not lying. But, come to think of it, you seem to know something I don't." I folded my hands in front of my chest. Stare at him full of probes. Hope Fadhly says the point of the question.

"It was a few days ago that I met your husband's assistant at a cafe. There I gave you what your husband wanted."

Fadhly's answer really surprised me. My mind was immediately drawn back. Given the change in attitude from Mas Denis since last night. "Why did you tell my husband?" My voice no longer sounds friendly. Honestly, I'm very angry. I feel like Fadhly can't keep a secret we've agreed upon together. A deal in which we had to forget each other and assume the relationship never happened.

"I'm sorry, Lissa. I have no other choice. The cooperation project with your husband's company is very important for my company. So, I can't refuse his request. Plus ...."

"I still love you, Lissa. I want us to go back to what we used to be after your household with Denis ends."

This time I really could not hold my anger, even I hit the table very hard so some people who were in the cafe so looked at me.

"So what you say, Fadh! You must realize that I already have a husband and so do you. I won't be able to go back with you and hurt your wife again like I used to. Just so you know, I never really loved you. I was forced just for money so I could support my family." Feeling that my meeting with Fadhly was only ruining my mood today, I stood up and was about to leave. However, he held my hand. Asking me to sit back after apologizing repeatedly.

"I'm sorry, Lissa. Please sit! I promise, I won't piss you off again. In fact I'll tell you something and it's about your husband."

Those words managed to make my intention to leave instantly disappear. Moreover, he said that there was something else he wanted to say and that it might just be the answer to what I was looking for at the moment.

"Well, I'll sit down again! But, remember! I don't like it when you talk about our relationship anymore because I already have a husband right now."

"Yes I'm sorry. I just want you to know that Adel is no longer my wife. We got divorced a few months ago because it turns out she's in a relationship with the other guy behind me."

I tried to respond normally, though I was really surprised at Fadhly's divorce from his wife. "I'm so sad to hear about your marriage. Hope you can get a better woman than Adel. But have you ever thought about it? It's possible that what you're going through is punishment for the treason you committed with me."

"No problem, Lissa. I have absolutely no regrets about ever making that mistake with you. So, you don't have to sympathize with me. Now all you have to think about is your own household."

"meaning?" ask me with a face filled with question marks.

"Just be careful because Denis isn't the same as you used to be after knowing your past. But you don't have to worry, even if Denis will divorce you, I'll gladly accept you, Lissa."

Finally, I really couldn't bear to land a hard slap next to her cheek. The slap is again the attention of visitors and waiters at the cafe.

"I think I'm wrong to talk to you here." I left without saying anything more to Fadhly, who was still holding his cheek.

Disgusted, I walked out of the cafe. Thinking about all the words Fadhly until I was more sure that between Mas Denis and Almira there was something. "Anyway tonight I should know what they're hiding?" Without looking back, I rushed into the taxi that was waiting for me.
