After Zhang Hai regained his composure, there was someone who came over to the two of them. He was an old man who had black hair along his shoulders and wore a gray robe that behind his back bore a black skull logo.
"Zhang'er, are you okay?" the old man asked, he looked quite worried.
"I'm fine, Master." Zhang Hai retorted, then embraced the neck of Li Hao who was nearby, "But thanks to him, I was able to survive. If he hadn't come here, I might have died."
Zhang Hai recounts the beginning of Li Hao's arrival until the appearance of the enemy Nascent Soul.
While the old man listened in silence, he then looked at Li Hao after his disciple finished recounting the incident, "Thank you for your help, Nak Li Hao. I'm very grateful that you've come here and helped them, especially Zhang'er. I promise I'll make you the compensation you deserve."
"Eh, how do you know my name?" Li Hao was curious as he remembered he had never told the old man his name.
"Of course I know, you were the popular boy on the first day who suddenly withdrew during the third game." the old man immediately replied.
"And the rumor is, you resigned because the woman you liked lost the Tournament." Zhang Hai added casually.
"uh? What kind of rumor is that!" Li Hao was clearly shocked to hear that.
Zhang Hai laughed mockingly, then continued, "If it's not wrong that the woman's name is Diao Chan, and there could be such a rumor since the two of you were always together during the waiting room."
Li Hao paused for a moment before taking a short sigh from his mouth, he did not expect that such rumors would be created when he resigned after Diao Chan suffered a defeat in the previous match.
"Well, I don't think it's a problem if the rumors spread to his ears."
Since Li Hao already knew how Diao Chan felt about him, he did not have to worry about him.
"Well, are you happy? Keke... It seems that rumor is not just a rumor."
Li Hao gave a small snort when he heard that, there was no reason for him to dodge it. His gaze then turned to the old man Zhang Hai called Master, then said, "Master, this may sound presumptuous and disrespectful but I refuse the compensation you want to give."
"Hm, what's the reason?" the old man immediately asked, Zhang Hai who heard it also came into curiosity.
"I don't deserve any compensation because there wasn't much help I gave in this event." Li Hao replied calmly.
"What the fuck...? You really helped me, you idiot!" Zhang Hai exclaimed once more, and the old man also gave the same opinion.
"If it is like that, I still do not want to receive any compensation or rewards. Because basically, I'm just here to help."
Zhang Hai who heard that immediately rejected the statement because Li Hao deserved to get compensation or rewards. He had saved countless lives of the younger generation gathered in this place, it was unnatural for there to be no reward for him.
"Zhang'er's right. If you don't exist and many young people die here, a terrible war will surely ensue and that war will likely involve the other two Mainlands."
Li Hao remained steadfast in his stance, he was unwilling to accept compensation or rewards from people who wanted to thank him. The reason for this is because according to him the receipt of compensation or rewards from a person can be the basis of the relationship between them. This may sound redundant, but if the person giving it comes from two different streams, then it could pose a potential conflict in the future.
Li Hao's goal was to become strong and find out the reason why he could exist in this world, there was no reason for him to engage more deeply with both streams.
By the time Zhang Hai persuaded Li Hao to receive compensation from them, the old man who became his teacher stopped his actions.
"Zhang'er stop, we can't force his will." the old man held the head of his disciple, then looked at Li Hao with a faint smile, "It doesn't matter if you refuse, no matter if you refuse, but come to the Black Skull sect if you need anything. As long as your request is still limited in my ability and does not damage the sect name, I will be happy to help you."
Zhang Hai did not persuade any further after hearing that, and not long after that some other Immortal came and thanked Li Hao for the help of braving the time.
Some of them also wanted to compensate Li Hao for his heroic merit but the young man subtly rejected it. He was initially quite difficult to face the Immortal who did not accept when he refused the compensation they wanted to give, but thanks to the help of Master Zhang Hai he did not experience any troublesome problems.
Although some Immortal thanked him, but some immediately left the place without saying a single word. Of course Li Hao was happy that he did not have to waste any more time.
After going through all that, the Immortal from the participant side started to gather in one place, the Five Dragon Towers party also joined in to talk about this matter. Fortunately, the participants who died over this event did not come from any major sects or clans. Indeed it sounded evil but that way, the Five Dragon Towers party could still calm them down and minimize the possibility of an impending war.
On the other hand, Li Hao stayed at one of the inns that still stood within the third wall. He did not go out of the city because it was almost night, and he was still thinking about his decision whether to tell the mastermind of this event or not.
Li Hao was confused because if he exposed the mastermind behind this event, he would be involved with both streams. Moreover, the Black Lotus sect would definitely be eyeing his life because he exposed it.
It was actually possible for Li Hao to ask for protection from both the stream and the Five Dragon Towers parties, but his goal was likely hindered as he was definitely required to settle in one place until the Black Lotus sect was wiped out.
The war involving the big parties was clearly going to take a long time and Li Hao was reluctant to waste his time that long. When he was still thinking, a knocking sound suddenly sounded and made him wake up.
"Hm, who...?" Li Hao wondered inwardly, then took out his Wind sword.
Li Hao became wary out of fear that the person behind the door was currently the envoy from the Black Lotus sect to kill himself.
"Hey, Li Hao! Quickly open the door!"
The familiar voice made Li Hao let out a long sigh, before opening the door himself first storing the Wind sword.
"Gosh, are you asleep?"
When the door opened, Zhang Hai walked in casually as if it was the room he had rented.
"What are you doing here?" Li Hao put on a flat expression while closing the door of his room.
Zhang Hai smiled then turned around as he raised his right hand forward, "Look, I brought some beer for us!"
"Huh, what the fuck? Why should we drink together? We're not that close." Li Hao replied quickly.
"Kukies... Come on, let's just say this drink is my personal thank you."
Li Hao did not immediately respond because something had crossed his mind. Seeing that the young man was silent without moving a single bit from his place made Zhang Hai put on a slightly annoyed expression, "Hey! Are you so unwilling to drink with me?!"
Li Hao gasped before shaking his head lightly, "It just so happens that there's something I want to talk about. So, let's have a drink..."
Zhang Hai immediately smiled widely when he heard that, then the two of them sat on the mattress and started drinking the high-quality beer together.
