Under Sun
31. Why Do The Stars Fall Down From The Sky?

Back to that day, one week after she left.

"Isn't this a little late?"

Glass cups containing warm tea that billows lifted from the table. A black-gloved woman sipped her black tea slowly, "Miss?"

The man who was sitting in front of him started to get angry. The serious look he had given to the woman was in fact not working at all, "You don't have a heart, or what?"

The sunglasses that had been perched on the woman's nose bone then just slipped away when she decided to take off her glasses along with the antique glass glass that again met the surface of the plate on the table circular.

"It's orders. Who do we work for? Jeffrey? No, we're not. We work for Mr. Jung, Jisung."

Hearing the stern remark did not necessarily make Jisung relax his statement, "We do work for his father Jeffrey. But—"

"Stop. Jeffrey is crazy, and so is his father. If from the beginning you knew they were both crazy, you should also be prepared for the consequences like now."

Jisung fell silent later. Ana's words just made sense. The young man sighed softly, "But the girl is nothing wrong at all."

"I don't care. She's just a poor girl who accidentally had to meet Jeffrey."

Jisung's thoughts drifted back a moment ago, exactly a week before today when he drove the girl to the city station to leave Toronto.

"But why would Jeffrey be so obsessed with Jea?" Jisung asked again, this time a little more boldly. After all, Ana is the psychiatrist Mr. Jung sent to take care of Jeffrey. So Ana should have known about the ins and outs of Jeffrey's abnormal attitude all along.

The woman turned her gaze towards the window. Featuring streets in a Virginia city that's not as crowded as Toronto, "You know Jeffrey doesn't have DID? He's a schizophrenic patient. And Jeffrey also has PTSD that affects his other mental illness. In the past, his mother was the only one who treated Jeffrey as a human. But you know what happens next?"

Jisung's eyebrows interlocked when he found the word hanging from his interlocutor. The man asked again, "What?"

Ana smiled then, "The mother is dead. And that's because of Jeffrey's own father. Perhaps because Jea was a woman who was also severely tortured by her past family, Jeffrey instinctively felt he had to save the girl."

Ana then slightly confirmed her sitting position when she wanted to continue her words that still felt awkward, "Everything Jeffrey really hates Mr. Jung ever since. And due to the tragedy of Madame Jung's death, Jeffrey forms a new character in his own brain—"

"— and that's Jaehyun."

Then Jisung nodded slowly, "I originally thought he had multiple personalities," added the man.

Ana sniffed her shoulders, "I thought so at first. But it turns out he has schizophrenia, resulting in him experiencing hallucinatory and delusional symptoms. He always hallucinated about his mother dying because the schizophrenic patient could not tell which was real and which was not. As for delusions, Jeffrey argues that he is a good man. And he named it Jaehyun. Of course it's like a multiple personality, but it's not."

"Ah— and also, as long as you know, Jeffrey can have schizophrenia because his father killed his own mother in front of his eyes. Because Jeffrey felt that he had failed to save his mother's life, he thought that he was truly a man who did not deserve to live. The thought was too burdened, giving rise to the delusional symptoms of Jaehyun."

Jisung nodded back. To be honest, he himself also knew that Jaehyun was a fake character that Jeffrey made. Because his job is to be secret intelligence that must report everything Jaehyun did when the man was in the Toronto police center.

Jeffrey believes Jaehyun exists.

Plus, Jeffrey's own father who knew the fact immediately sent Ana as a secret psychiatrist to Jeffrey. Fortunately, Jeffrey who was just forming his character as Jaehyun immediately trusted Ana who claimed to be his wife. Because subconsciously, Jeffrey only believes in the falsehood that he and others make, because the man believes he is a good human being.

"But in hindsight, Mr. Jung really missed it too. When there's a father who wants his own son lost?" Papar Jisung again still does not understand the line of thought of Mr. Jung.

Whereas Ana just slicked her shoulders indifferently, "That's normal. If I were in Mr. Jung's position, maybe I would do the same. The Jaehyun was a normal human figure. Mr. Jung would have preferred the figure of Jaehyun because he was overwhelmed by the attitude of Jeffrey who had been brutal long ago. Jeffrey has loved to kill since he was thirteen. You shadow yourself, who would want to have a child like that?"

Still inexhaustible, Jisung switched to sipping a glass of cold water on the table. Then turn his head on the panorama of the streets around. Really, a tragic story.

"I heard that when Jaehyun was around, he liked headaches at eight in the night. Sometimes I have my own difficulties because I have to deliver the drugs continue," Papar Jisung again still with his view that has not been separated from the streets of Virginia.

"I told you, it's a hallucination and a delusion. He believes that he has a good man who has a double personality. And it was my job to make him believe completely and eliminate Jeffrey's existence. So when Jaehyun wanted to change his personality to Jeffrey, he believed that his head should hurt. Though not. It's just the hallucination."

Then Jisung laughed. What kind of story is this. Despite three years of working under Mr. Jung, he himself did not know the story in the extended family until this deep.

It's true, the Jung family is crazy.

note :

schizophrenia

(n) cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality.

hallucinations

(n) leads to problems with sensory receptors (indra) resulting in the patient being able to smell/see/feel something that is not real.

delusions

(n) have beliefs that are not based on reality.

although it has been proven that what the sufferer believes is different from reality, the sufferer still clings to his thoughts.

why would it be concluded that Jeffrey did not have DID? because if he has DID, he can't control any other characters in his body. In Jeffrey's case, he was the one who controlled Jaehyun according to his self-imposed beliefs.
