CHAPTER 67

“Tante Liana!” vina muttered after she turned her head and saw the female figure calming herself down.

“You're patient, yes! Let Nathan alone first. Nathan needs time to calm his mind.” Liana smiled gently though in her heart deeply regretted Vina's outrageous attitude.

“Nathan hates Vina, Tan. Even very hateful,” shrewd Vina with a pitiful face expecting sympathy from Liana. Vina thought, if she can't get close to Nathan then she will take Liana's heart.

“Nathan did just that there must be a reason. Now home! Don't embarrass yourself. Your father would be angry if he knew you were like this. Let the auntie driver drive you home!” liana said softly, but full of meaning. Liana hopes Vina will realize her mistake and leave Nathan's life soon.

Vina nodded slowly and wiped the tears flowing down her cheeks. “Vina go home first, Tan.” He got up and walked to a car parked neatly in front of the apartment accompanied by Liana's private driver.

Liana looked at the departure of the girl, the girl she had once hoped to bring happiness to her son. The girl he once loved more than his own son. But then another one now. The girl had ruined her son's happiness a second time. It certainly makes Liana not accept, she will never be willing if her son is hurt.

After the car that drove Vina left the place, Liana continued her goal of visiting Nathan. For several days Nathan did not come home, even his phone was often ignored. As a mother, of course, there is a sense of worry about the state of her child. Especially with Nathan's condition that is clearly not okay.

Liana rang the bell when she arrived in front of Nathan's apartment. For a long time, the door showed no signs of being opened. Liana almost gave up, Nathan's favorite food that he deliberately prepared by being forced to bring back. Just two steps Liana tried to leave the place, suddenly the sound of the door opening made Liana stop her steps and turn her head.

“Mama!” nathan exclaimed in surprise when he saw Liana. “Sorry, Nathan thought Vina was coming, so Nathan was aja” on purpose

Liana paused her intention to leave, she approached Nathan and hugged his son. “You're in good health, right? Are you sick? Why do you look skinny?” Liana nodded to Nathan with questions.

“Sign in, Mom! We talk inside.” Nathan invites his mother to go into the apartment.

“Mama bring your favorite dishes, Nath. Ma'am ready, yes. You must not have eaten ‘kan?” liana deftly arranged the food on the dining table.

“Later, Ma. Nathan is not hungry yet,” reject Nathan who is not tasteful to eat.

“Nathan, don't let this matter torment your body. Your body is also affected by your problems. You have to stay strong to solve one by one the problems that come to you.” Liana approached her son who was sitting in front of the television.

“Iya, Mother. Nathan will eat, kok.” Nathan remains focused on the game on his phone.

“Vina already mama told me to go home. He's being driven by a mama's driver" Liana said.

“Mama meet Vina?” Nathan was surprised by Liana's words.

“Yes, I saw Vina crying. After mama asked him to stay away from you, mama asked him to go home,” Liana said.

“Ck! Why, anyway, she's still looking for Nathan. Basic insensitive. He should have felt that Nathan wouldn't meet him,” decak Nathan.

Meanwhile in front of Vina's apartment, the girl stepped up without spirit after getting off the car that drove her. Walking with his face down until he did not realize there was someone who noticed him earlier. Exel, who had originally planned to visit Vina, sees Vina getting out of the car in a state of chaos. Exel who still loved the girl, followed her slowly. Before Vina enters the apartment building, Exel blocks Vina's steps.

“Why are you, Vin?” ask Exel who is worried about Vina's condition. Hearing her name called, Vina raised her head. Highlight the warm eyes of the handsome face standing in front of her was able to make Vina slightly pull the corner of her lips. For now Vina was unwilling to argue with Exel. His energy seemed to have run out to think of Nathan.

Although Vina did not answer Exel's question, Exel felt that this had something to do with Nathan. Exel kept following the girl's steps towards her apartment. Slowly they entered the elevator that would take them upstairs.

“I'm ready to be a good listener, Vin. Do not you pendam yourself, let your feelings be relieved,” said Exel clutching Vina's body, bringing her into the arms. His heart warmed when there was no rejection from Vina.

For a moment they were in silence. Vina felt comfortable in Exel's arms. Shamelessly Vina tightened her embrace on the man and cried as much as she could in his arms. Vina just broke her embrace when the elevator doors started to open. They step in tandem. Exel could not bear to see the girl he loved hurt. But he also felt happy, that in this way Exel hoped Vina would realize her mistake. Today Exel accompanied Vina until late at night.

Liana unsuccessfully tries to persuade Nathan to return home. However, Liana is grateful that she managed to persuade Nathan to eat. Day after day, Nathan's attitude changes. Cold and not much to say. Liana never again found her eldest son whining for something at her, or teasing his younger siblings like he used to. This made Liana sad. Liana was afraid that the thing that had happened to Nathan when Vina left behind would be repeated again. Until Liana asked for help Zacky who is currently in Indonesia to observe Nathan's development.

Every night Liana hears a report from Zacky about Nathan's activities. Grateful that Nathan didn't fall like he used to. At this time Nathan is busy preparing material for the thesis and also completing the side work that Zacky gave. This is Nathan doing to take his mind off Widya.

Meanwhile, Vina, who a few days ago received a long advice from Exel, slowly began to digest all the words of Exel. Every sentence that came out of Exel seemed to slap him. However, Vina began to justify what Exel said. Vina realizes one thing, that she no longer loves Nathan, but she is just obsessed with having him. He felt that there was no other girl who was closer to Nathan than him.

“Love is sincere, Vin. Love does not impose a will. True love is sincere to see him happy, not hurt him. Do you still have that taste? If all you have in your heart is your desire to get her back it's not love, but you're obsessed with her.” The long sentence strands that Exel spoke at that time were able to disturb Vina's conscience.

“Aaargghh! Why, anyway, what you said was true, Xel.” Vina squeezes her hair. Dropped himself on a padded mattress in the room. Vina wanted not to believe all the words of Exel a few days ago, but on the other hand her heart rejected her wishes.

The night was getting late, but Vina's eyes remained hard to shut. All the actions he did to separate Nathan from Widya went back into his mind. Vina closed her eyes with a pillow. Trying to forget all that. Guilt slowly began to torment his inner self. Disturbing the peace of his life. He got up, staring at the clock on the nightstand which showed at 01.35 WIB.

Vina opened her bedroom door and stepped towards the balcony. He breathes the night air of the capital that remains warm. He looked at the stars in the sky. “The star is beautiful even though I can't reach it, ” withers in the dark of the night.

Tonight Vina just sat on the balcony until dawn. His eyes were hard to think of a way to accept reality. Is it time for Vina to give up? Or does he stick to his obsession even though many are injured? It wasn't just him who was hurt by Nathan's attitude. However, everyone around him, including Widya, Exel, Liana, and Nathan himself. How long will Vina hurt them? If there is a chance to make them smile again, why not do it?

A sliced smile was imprinted on the corner of her tiny lips. A shadow of Nathan who once smiled at him just appeared. “Yes, it never hurts to try even though I have to be ready with all the risks I will receive.” Vina got up, momentarily staring at the orange tinge in the eastern horizon before she entered the dream world that was waiting for her.
