It has been three months since I entered the fort. The atmosphere is very peaceful, calm, and comfortable. Either because it was too comfortable for me or because I forgot my memories in the past so I forgot it felt like this kind of peace and comfort. I lived in the west with the old soldier who found me in the west outside of the fort.
The old soldier was named Franko Albert. About 50 years old. His wife died of lung cancer 20 years ago, his son was killed during his first mission in the military. Even so, Mr. Franko remains patient and happy in living his life.
But even though it's so quiet inside, somehow my heart isn't calm. Always haunted by guilt and regret. My regrets and guilt towards Kenji. He saved me but I turned away from him when we were apart.
The sun rises. I got out of bed and prepared breakfast for Mr. Franko.
"Emiya, I have a night shift today. You don't have to wait while staying up again. It's not good for your health." Said Mr. Franko sipping my tea.
"That's exactly what I'm worried about. Older still working for work. Why not enjoy your retirement? If it's money I can look for it." I said I was trying to advise him.
"If this old body does not work often then it will be easy to get sick. It will add to your burden too. You forgot Kenji's message to you?" Mr. Franko's words immediately made me bite my own lips. Yes, Kenji wants me to live in peace and freedom. That's why I left him. And that doesn't seem fair to me. I hadn't even had the chance to say "good-bye" to him at the time
We also finished breakfast. Mr. Franko put on his soldier uniform and started walking down the neighboring houses around to go to his guard post, the western post. While I was at home cleaning the house, washing the cutlery we had used and other household chores.
I also went to the market to buy ingredients to cook later for dinner. I decided to load up some beef soup tonight. When I'm on my way home, I always pass by the church that's right on the left of the market. The church is like a regular church. I was wondering, why is this church so quiet? very well maintained and clean. I looked at the church for a long time.
"Can I help you?" Ask someone who suddenly asks me. And that surprised me a little. I also looked to the right.
"You want to come in?" Ask the person who turns out to be the pastor of the church. At first I refused but because he was a religious leader here would be impolite if I refused him then I followed him. We also went into the church.
"Beautiful church." I said breaking the silence as we sat across from each other.
"Ah really? Thank ye. But no matter how clean I was and made it beautiful, still only a few people entered it." Evidently.
A few seconds off.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm the church keeper here. My name is Luke." The priest also revealed his identity. His age seemed to be younger than me. His gray hair was messy, his eyes were bright brown.
"My name is Emiya. Nice to meet you." I shook his hand too. Because of how I felt or how Luke's face immediately tensed when I shook my hand. But he immediately smiled and took my hand off slowly.
"Emiya huh? I never saw you. Did you move?" Ask.
Even though he's a pastor, Mr. Franko told me not to tell anyone where I'm from, whoever he is. I'd be in trouble if I did.
"Yes, I moved out just 3 months ago." My answer. I think that's the most neutral answer.
"Miss Emiya. Careful. Remember, no one can resist happiness even if it hurts. It goes for everyone including me." Luke smiled softly. Although I was happy to hear it but Luke's words seemed to hold a lot of meaning. When I talked to him earlier though I enjoyed it a lot but I felt like there was a terrible bullying behind Luke's smile.
I didn't tell Mr. Franko what happened that morning. But it looks like Mr. Franko read my face. "What's up, Emiya?" Ask Mr. Franko.
"Ah no. I just thought what we had breakfast tomorrow..." Obviously I lied to him. Mr. Franko put down his spoon.
"A reaction like that is a sign of your lies. But how come you look so fretful when it comes to topics other than Kenji? What's going on?" Ask once more. I'm a bad liar. Even though he had only been with Franko for 3 months, he already knew how to lie to me.
I told her everything in detail and in detail. Mr. Franko was excited to hear that. About pastor Luke, his church, everything.
"I want you not to enter that church again. It would be dangerous if you were too involved with him." From his tone it might be ordinary but there was an air of intimidation from his voice. I also dare not ask the reason. Mr. Franko is usually angry and serious if it's like that.
"Maybe it's time. I don't deny what pastor Luke said. You've learned a lot over the past 3 months. Finding happiness is not always the easy way. Then it's up to you." Said Mr. Franko.
"Sir allowed me?" Ask me to make sure.
"I'm not the God who sets the law for man, Emiya. Man tends to rebel because of his ego. Because man has lust. As long as you're happy I won't stand in his way." Said.
The next day When I want to go to the market Mr. Franko has bought the ingredients for our lunch and dinner. That means he's really serious. He knew I always passed by that church when I was finished off the market.
The sound of bells is heard. The time when the heroes entered the gate. In front of the host Franko is his main road for the heroes to pass by. I heard rumors that they were messengers of the gods to save this world from the demon race and they were really very strong and powerful.
From behind the window of the house, I saw one very beautiful hero, Miss Miyuki. Dressed in White robed with a steel plate that protects the chest, back of the hand, and shin bones in his legs, his hair was straight and long black. Her face is very beautiful and graceful. He was armed with a curved sword called a katana. Mr. Franko also told me that Miss Miyuki was also saved by Kenji.
I want to be like him. Save a lot of people, be a hero. Where I can protect all smiles and laughter. Evening has arrived.
Franko and I had dinner together. We enjoyed the roast chicken Mr. Franko bought earlier at the market. I want to talk about my desire to "seek my happiness and freedom." Kenji told me.
"Mr Franko. I want to catch up with him. It may be the wrong decision or it may be the right decision. But I want to be able to thank him. He's been a hero to me for making my life more meaningful. That's why I want to follow him. If it wasn't for him, I might still be asleep inside those ruins." I said with determination.
Mr. Franko looked me in the eye long enough. Then she smiled gently at me.
"Then go after it. There will always be a way. Destiny may bring you together. If that's your happiness then go after Emiya." Said Mr. Franko stroking my hair.
With this I began my adventure to a hell full of demons. Even though I have to feel all the pain that exists in this world. But my decision was not wrong.
