Me and the Rain

Rain became a natural phenomenon that coexisted closely with humans. The calm rain gives coolness, gives life to various creatures on earth. Removing garbage, cleaning the air from a lot of fine dust. However, heavy and relentless rain can be disastrous for humans. Floods, landslides, and some damage can occur due to the force of the water.

Selena raised her gaze towards the wet window exposed to the raindrops.

And my life lately has always been friendly with the rain. Nature did send it or God dropped water from the sky. Several times in the last few months, this water dropped at the right time. If the rain is interpreted with sadness, I agree. In fact, I am sad right now. If rain is interpreted with tranquility, I agree, because when it rains my heart is like a dry land thirsty for rain. If the rain is interpreted as crying, I also agree, because some times it rains when my heart cries even though the tears do not drip from my eyes.

Yeah, I guess I'll be friends with you. Thank you for greeting you in the way that soaks my fragile heart, with a gentle breeze that cools my soul. With every drop of water that descends that brings into the endless fountain of coolness. Thank you for the rain for saying hello. Thank you for the rain that greeted me. Thank you for the rain hugging me your way.

Selena finally realized when the bus she was riding had arrived at the news stop. Selena immediately stepped out of the bus. His eyes observed the droplets of water coming down, his hands tightening the bag on his shoulders. The girl bowed for a moment, and she lifted her eyes slowly. Her eyes met a man who was no stranger to her. A striking handsome man with a red umbrella walked towards him.

"I'm picking you up Selena. I'm glad you're finally home." Daniel's greeting to Selena, the large, striking red umbrella has now protected the two from the small drizzle that keeps dripping.

"Why are you here Dan?"

"I thought that you would naek the bus like old times. I looked from the balcony, it was drizzling. I want to pick you up. And I am so grateful to have found you here. I sent a lot of messages, but no one replied. I'm worried about you, Selena."

Selena's heart once again shook. It was this kind of kindness of Daniel that always made his heart tremble. Genuine kindness, not demanding revenge, does not benefit him. Daniel truly gave true goodness. And it was this kindness of Daniel that made Selena feel the flapping of butterfly wings in her heart. Butterfly wings, though small, but beautiful and impactful. The butterfly, perched quietly on top of a flower, flapped its wings beautifully, slowly, until it finally flew. That's how Selena feels.

"Thank you for worrying about me. But, I was overtime, I had so many reports to finish that I didn't hold my phone at all."

"It's okay Selena. The most important thing is that you are here now. I'm glad to see you again. How's your job today? Let's tell you how your day is, we're walking because it's late."

Daniel covered Selena with her red umbrella against her eyes. Giving more room from the umbrella to Selena, and she let her shoulders get a little wet from raindrops.

"I've been busy all day, Daniel. I've done a lot of work, and maybe tomorrow I'll have to go overtime again."

"Do you have to be overtime?"

"hem, yes... Gotta."

"Selena, you're not avoiding me, are you?"

"What avoid? Who is avoiding? Me?? No. gabe. I'm not avoiding you, Dan."

"Oh, huh? But why do I feel like you're avoiding me."

"That's probably just your feeling." Selena smiled and continued to step on her feet.

"No, from yesterday I felt you were avoiding Selena. I'm sure it is."

Selena muttered in her heart, "Indeed I avoided you, Dan. I have to win my heart. Give time to my heart and mind."

"Do you think of anything?" Daniel asked Selena.

"Ah, no. Uh, but in Mr. Dexter's office said he wanted to be friends with you. Isn't that weird?"

"Sir Dexter your boss we met at the wedding?"

"Why does he want to be friends with me?"

"Okay, I don't know. He just said he doesn't have many friends here, so he wants to be friends with you."

"Oh, so. Okay, no problem. I'll be friends with him."

"All right, I'll tell him tomorrow."

"Have you had dinner?"

"Yet. I'm not hungry."

"Want to eat at the cafe near our apartment?"

"Hem, okay okay. But let me pay this time. I've already received my first salary."

"Okay, okay. I won't refuse."

Daniel and Selena walk in one umbrella. They combed the streets wet with rain, towards the Cafe near their apartment. The two entered the cafe, choosing a place near the window while observing several vehicles passing in front of them.

"What do you want to eat, Dan?"

"I'll just drink Selena. I want hot chocolate."

"Related, you're not eating?"

"Yes..."

"All right, I'll order you some hot chocolate."

Selena called the waiter, she ordered two hot chocolates and one toast. The two enjoyed a cup of chocolate amidst the drizzle of rain.

"Isn't it weird, these days it's raining all of a sudden?" Selena swept her gaze towards the window beside her.

"Why Selena?" Daniel's Law.

"I feel lately the rain fell suddenly, a few days ago when the twilight is beautiful, suddenly blown by the wind and finally the rain fell heavily. Today, I observed the sky that was still blue, and saw that it suddenly rained. Weird, right?"

"Yes it may be strange to man, but not to God. Even in every rain that hatches there is in His favor. We humans can just enjoy it, Selena. There must be a point to everything that happens. Including the sudden rain." Daniel told Selena convincingly.

"really?" Selena asked who was now looking at Daniel with her dark net.

"Yes, of course Selena. There is a meaning to everything that happens in this universe. Nothing happens all of a sudden."

Selena pervaded every word of Daniel. Yes, he believes there is God's plan for the universe. Nothing will happen suddenly because everything is in His favor.

...Don't let everyone who comes to you leave without feeling better and happier. Be a living expression of God's goodness. Goodness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile....
