Ataraxia Abyss
Chapter 15: The smell of death

Regal who sees Hamel running away is terrified and Aiden who is lost in emotion finally manages to lure them to follow his plan.

"truths. I want the truth..." Regal said it so loudly that some houses could hear it.

"After all the things you've done to me, you've behaved well in front of everyone. The village chief, dear to his children, that's a lie I want to straighten out.

How do you torture me every day, try to kill me, and also try to keep me your entertainment by preventing me from becoming a Wimbledon Knight." Regal's voice rang out, the villagers who didn't hear him finally started to approach even though they were somewhat keeping their distance.

"That's all because you're the devil's son! You killed your brother and the villagers around you!" Aiden told me a fact, but Regal doesn't plan to be too honest.

"I am the son of the devil..." Aiden and the whole village heard that. "show me?! Everything Regal is the son of the devil, so we kill him!!"

But before they could act, Regal said.

"Yet my mother was a human. A woman who loved me so much that she could find me a protector with her dying body...

I have human blood in my body, it's all in my blood. And yet you? I don't find any humanity in you.

You tortured me into thinking I was going to kill you when I didn't, that proves I never killed anyone on purpose am I right?" Regal said with a smiling face.

"Oh where's my brain... Of course it's all for your son Hamel. The boy you let him and his friends blackmail the travelers and merchants who came here.

The kid you said was gifted to everyone and even to Klaus the Knight Captain. You guys so glorify that kid.

Now do you see his condition? He was scared to death by the child he used to torture, the child who felt desperate when he saw someone stronger than him was not a talent worth a thumbs up..."

Regal's words could be heard by Hamel hiding in his room. His spirit was increasingly broken by the words Regal, Aiden could not deny because all that fact.

"That's all slander! Defamation!!" Aiden continued to point to Regal, but the residents preferred to put a face of disgust to their village chief.

"I know there's something strange, Regal keeps looking for firewood day and night with a thin cloth, is that normal?"

"Really! Regal always gets hurt but always says he falls and stuff." The villagers began to believe in Regal, all their suspicions that turned out to be the truth, making them look at the village chief and his family lower than the garbage.

Regal who saw it immediately walked away from the village, while the residents began to approach the village chief's house. For him it was all over, he had no reason to be sad now, only a reason to smile...

———

Regal walked a few days from his village to get to the royal capital of Wimbledon. There he entered a hallway after he sought information.

While walking down the hallway he found the door in the hallway, Regal then opened the door and went inside. The place was a bar, but not an ordinary bar, it contained many criminals whether they were thieves, dealers and many other sinners in it.

The reason Regal came to that rotten place was because of one thing, he came to the bartender and asked.

"There's work?" Regal gave a silver coin to the bartender. "Hmm, I've never seen you here, are you from another branch?" Ask the bartender while cleaning the glass.

"I just wanted to build a name and also raise money, my money ran out for some interest the moment I stopped by earlier." The bartender then took out a paper and gave it to Regal.

"A store under our control never paid protection money. I'm tired of charging, I want that guy dead."

———

In the evening an antique businessman was cleaning his shop as usual. But somehow he shivered after hearing a whistling sound at night.

The whistling stopped when a customer entered his shop. "Good morning sir, I want to buy some stuff." Regal entered the store and looked at the items carefully.

"Welcome young man! I didn't expect the arrival of a child your age, just look around and ask me anything. I'm gonna clean up to close the shop so you're my last customer." Said the old man.

Regal was interested in a spear that was there. "This spear looks good. Where did you get this stuff?" Regal picked up a spear with a strange inscription on the tip of his spear.

"That's a spear found in a famous Dungeon, castaga you have to see how many people die in that Dungeon to get that holy spear." Regal who heard that immediately smiled.

"Your soul is lying..." The old man immediately turned around and said. "What?"

Regal watched the spear carefully, he immediately explained about the spear.

"This spear is the work of a Dwarf, its name is engraved on this spear. That's Rune language." The old man immediately laughed. "Son, no human can understand the language of runes."

Regal lost his smile, his eyes blank with no soul then said. "I know..." Hearing that the old man immediately ran away, but Regal threw the spear through the old man.

"Geez, you're a thief and a big-time con man. But your collection sucks, old man." Finally the old man breathed his last breath.

———

Regal came back to the bar with a bag, when the bartender opened his pocket, inside was the head of the old man. The bartender smiled and said.

"Aren't you afraid of killing Dad?" Regal smiled and replied. "Bags don't seem to deserve life." The bartender then laughed, he gave another mission to Regal.

"Good, that mercenary should be able to kill well. But why did you even come in here and look for a young mercenary contract?" Ask the bartender.

"Hmm, I just want freedom. I wanted to make a name before the nobles finally sent me a letter to participate in the war." Said Regal while counting the money.

"Good enough... The mercenaries had the flexibility to carry out any mission, even they could enter the Dungeon without being affected by any guild.

You can also take any job, whether it's a job offered by adventurer Guilds, trade guilds, or Kingdoms. Smart enough you know this place has its own problems."

"Well, but mercenaries have their own weaknesses am I right?" Ask Regal while pocketing the money.

"Of course, although free but Guilds provide protection to their members, while you mercenaries will face missions whose difficulties are unknown.

Taking on a mission as a mercenary can earn a lot of wages. But you don't know if the mission to eradicate a group of Goblins means to eradicate tens or hundreds of Goblins."

Regal replied with a smile on his face. "That's the fun!"
