Ataraxia Abyss

Ataraxia Abyss
Chapter 61: The Soul Mate

In a dark passageway, Regal fought using his sword against a knight shrouded in dense dark energy. Not knowing how many people he had killed inside the Dungeon, but Regal was currently facing his boss who was using a spear. His fighting prowess was greater than the Firfur he faced in Surtr Domain but his physical strength and armor made him slower than Firfur.

As Regal swung his sword, the Knight retreated backwards and prepared to stab with his full strength. Regal does not want to make the same mistake, he uses his eye ability to change destiny. Regal let the spear pass beside him and then he hit the Knight with the handle of his sword. The punch was so loud that it stunned the Knight and lost its grip on his own weapon, Regal then held the spear and slashed the Knight's chest until he unleashed his spear. Regal smiled and then he quickly slashed the Knight into pieces with spears and swords until he finally knelt down. When the Knight was about to die, Regal went behind him and stabbed the knight's spear into the Knight's head, as he tried to resist, Regal turned the spear and finally broke the Knight's neck.

Seeing the corpse of the Knight begin to disappear, Regal finally went through the dark passage until he found a door. Regal opened the door and finally he saw a treasure chest that was there. When he opened it he finally saw a magic wand covered by a cloth. He took the object but when Regal took it he saw 2 other objects that caught his attention. A magic book as well as a black ring, this made Regal wonder why all things were black here, but he did not care about it and took the two objects.

"Looky! This is the real Ebony Staff! I thought this thing was just a myth!" The excited Avior was unaware that Regal was looking at him at this moment. "Hmm-mmm... And what am I supposed to do with these two things?" Avior then looked at Regal and replied. "You take it, I just want this thing!" Regal was obviously upset to see the old man's arbitrary behavior, but he knew how to appreciate the talents of others. "Ebony Staff, it's an ancient weapon belonging to the former grand mage Atrix right?" Regal knew that because the stick was in accordance with the description that was in the Abyss library. "Really! This is the Ebony Staff, a wand that can allow a magician to master space magic like a barrier and reportedly also trap others in other dimensions. But compared to these two things, you prefer that thing?" Regal then showed me the sword and the book.

"This was the sword Atrix had obtained after defeating the demon Invictus. Umbra Nox, this weapon is made from that demon soul... Plus this thing, this is the Certainty of Phantasm magic book an ancient magic book that teaches making space-time Mages able to learn ancient spells of space-time magic." Although it sounded interesting, but Avior did not care and said. "You take it, I don't have a match for space-time magic... I just need this thing because I don't have enough strong defensive magic, I'm too old to move around dodging the opponent's attack."

Hearing those words, Regal finally kept the sword and opened the book. When he absorbed the book's knowledge, Regal then closed his eyes as the magic book burned in his hand. When he opened his eyes, Avior already knew that he had managed to absorb the book so well. "Interesting... Ordinary people would usually scream in pain because their basic understanding of magic was lacking, but seeing you didn't flinch in the slightest made my hunch right..."

After being told by Avior, Regal returned home and cooked dinner as usual, but this time he cooked while contemplating what Avior said.

"Regals... Is it ready?" Kallen who came down from the stairs finally went to the kitchen and asked Regal. Seeing his wife approaching him, Regal then put on a smile and said. "It's almost so." And finally Regal and Kallen had dinner as usual. When Regal was eating he thought back to Avior, and he saw Kallen and made him ask. "What are you thinking? You don't usually daydream at the dinner table." Regal looked at Kallen and said. "It's okay, I just think this dinner table is too big for both of us..." Hearing those words made Kallen a bit sad, he said. "We've done it many times, but I still can't give offspring. I'm starting to feel that we're cursed by the Gods..." Hearing those words, Regal held his wife's hand and said. "No! I may be cursed by the Gods, but you? Don't act like you're the demon here Kallen, it's all because of my Incubus descendants that made us suffer. One person alone is enough to become a demon in this family..." Kallen then smiled and he hugged Regal while answering. "You're right... There's no point in slandering myself, it's all just a matter of time." Hearing the word time, Regal became reminded of the words of Avior, initially he wanted to tell Kallen about this and make Kallen calm Regal's heart as usual. But this time it was him who had to make Kallen calm, making him feel safe. Even when he knew that there was not much time left, he did not want to see his wife grieve more than this...

And finally they both continue to eat while Regal comforts Kallen, the woman does not demand to have children, she is only worried if Regal and his mother are disappointed in him. And after that dinner, Kallen finally went to the room and went to bed...

Meanwhile, even as Kallen fell asleep, Regal stayed up until midnight and went to his reading room while carrying a bottle of wine for him to drink. He was intoxicated while looking at an object he got from winning the title of King of Warriors, it was a key that Eleanor gave him, only Regal and his mother-in-law knew about the function of that key. He looked towards the fireplace and said. "After all the strength I gained, I still felt helpless in the end... I don't know what will happen after I die. But with this, at least I can guarantee your safety Kallen..."
