Chapter 18: The Avenger

Regal and the Red Viper were abandoned by their clients and associates. Right now they were dealing with 8 Ogres, huge monsters with physiques that had a strong resistance to weapons and magic.

"Wire creatures like the Ogre it is Rank B. We can't deal with it in this condition."

"Even if we win how much we lose?"

Everyone started to be pessimistic, but Regal was still calm. There was no other choice for him, those people in the Red Viper were not people who deserved to die just because of the selfishness of the person who hated them.

When everyone started to stand by, they could hear whistling sounds. The whistle came from Regal, with Adamas and Gram in his hand he put horses.

Then in an instant he lunged at that 8 Ogre. He performed several slashes that cut through the tendons and several other important organs belonging to the Ogres then landed in the middle of their formation, making the Ogres flung away.

Everyone had originally only seen Regal as a human, but now he had entered Foul Legacy mode shortly after he landed. Regal slashed and stabbed the Ogres one by one, making them die with severed heads or hearts pierced by swords.

"Reg..." Anne who saw it was immediately surprised to see the form of a demon from Regal, Regal then threw his sword into the chest of an Ogre, the Ogre was thrown until it hit his friend,and when the two of them pushed each other Regal came and hit the sword until it pierced through the two.

He landed in front of Anne, his body returning to human form. Anne and Finnley catch Regal who has fallen.

"I'm forcing myself too much..." Regal finally fell asleep after using Foul Legacy, despite being used to it but the technique actually took a lot of effort.

In the evening, Regal woke up in the Red Viper carriage, Anne sitting next to him and bandaging the wounds on his body.

"You're up, huh?" Anne with a worried face questioned Regal, Regal saw that the ointment that Anne had placed on her, that foul-smelling green ointment had healed the damage to her body after the use of Foul Legacy.

"Well, thanks for taking care of me." Regal stood up and sat down, Anne then gave her the meat soup that was still warm.

"Because you're not the one who cooks, I'm sorry if it's bad..." Regal smiled at Anne who apologized. The two of them chatted while eating.

"So you're half a demon?" Anne asked with her face flat. "Well, that's why I'm hated and exiled." Answer Regal while eating.

"Are you sorry?" Regal asked Anne, Anne shook her head with a smile. "No, I'm just shocked. You helped us even though you revealed your identity, we owe you you you know?"

Regal smiles at Anne, even though they look like they're only 20, but Anne and Finnley don't think Regal is a cursed child. Not even the Red Vipers thought so.

But their journey stopped when they heard the sound of battle.

"The legal?" Anne asked Regal, as Regal tried to sense with her Vis, she could feel the Ogres fighting the Black Cliff.

"Black Cliff, they're fighting Ogre." The Red Vipers who heard that started to smile.

"Karma is inevitable, right?"

"You're right, they're finally feeling the consequences of their own actions."

Regal is happy they have got their payback, but he still cannot cancel the contract.

"We're Mercenaries, I don't care about Black Cliff, but I haven't got my pay."

Regal with Adamas finally went to fight. No matter what, a contract is something that cannot be broken.

"Hayes do your magic!"

"Patience! I'm healing someone here!" Hayes and Brooks continued to fight against the 30 Ogres who came attacking them.

Black Cliff's army numbered 20 men, and currently only 9 of them were left, while Brooks and Hayes were struggling, suddenly only 4 of them bounced and died.

It was the boss of the Ogres, he stood 3 meters tall with a huge sword in his hand, Brooks and Hayes who saw it were clearly shocked, but willing they had to fight anyway.

The Brooks and Ogre swords were balanced, and Hayes' side continued to reduce the number of Ogres approaching. The troops from both sides were finally exhausted. There were no more Ogres or Black Cliff members left besides their leader.

Hayes with his magic continued to shoot magic but the skin of the Ogre was very hard, even the Brooks sword could not penetrate the skin. Hayes then gave the buff to Brooks but it still had no effect.

They both fought until Brooks' sword broke, without Brooks seeing Ogre standing in front of him, he raised his sword high and dropped it down, ending Brooks' life in the blink of an eye.

Hayes who witnessed it, began to fall because of a loss of balance. He then felt someone pull up his sleeves, it was Kaiman who was currently gathering the corpses of horses.

"Mr Hayes! You said you could protect us? You said I'd pay less if I left the Red Viper behind..."

Hayes immediately kicked Kaiman unconscious, while the great Ogre was in front of him, Hayes cast his defensive magic to protect himself.

But when the Ogre swung his sword, Hayes' defense was torn like paper. His body was split in two by the huge sword covered in the blood of his friends. And in the blink of an eye Hayes was dead...

Ogre who saw Kaiman still alive then finally took it from under the carcass of a horse. The Ogre tried to put Kaiman in his mouth, but quickly, the slash of the sword severed Ogre's hand.

The Ogre then looked back, a man with black armor fused with the night was standing before him. Looking at the man, the Ogre was furious and regrowed his hand back with his regeneration power.

Regal put up his horses, as the Ogre attacked Regal briskly and took the Ogre's eyes with a single slash.

The Ogre was in pain, making Regal get a gap and he used the opportunity to do a vertical slash, but the Ogre quickly dodged to the side and made Regal slash miss.

When the Ogre wanted to counterattack, Regal could not counterattack because his sword still fell to the ground, but Regal had already seen this.

This was the technique he used when defeating Mavis, at which point his sword fell to the ground and left him unable to do anything,for the people it was a victory but for Regal it was a learning, what should he do when he is in the Mavis situation?

Regal was constantly training, he was training his muscles and Vis for this technique. And the result of the exercise was paid, he was able to pull the sword that fell at a speed of 500 km/h it turned the attack from top to bottom into an attack from bottom to top.

A technique where he did not lose his momentum and strength. A perfect counterattack...

"Avenger" The slash from top to bottom with that overwhelming force now turned with almost double its force. And with that twice the power and speed. The Ogre split into two halves.

The newly arrived Red Viper saw all of those events, Regal who stopped his sword in the air that should have been impossible, as well as Regal who had just defeated an A-ranked monster with a single strike.

Everything can be seen by them. And after Regal had slashed the Ogre, he saw the unconscious Kaiman. His sword is still he holds, his desire to kill him is still not lost. Regal looked at the man while saying.

"There's gonna be a lot of things to talk about..."
