Chapter 62: The Peacekeeper

When Regal and Kallen sleep in the same bed, Regal wakes up with a cold sweat and a restless face. He calmed himself down and started to look out, the sun had yet to appear and the cold was still enveloping his body. "Until when should I experience this..." Regal then looked at Kallen, he clenched his hand and replied to himself that this was not the time.

He wakes up before the others and starts cooking breakfast, and when Regal cooks he starts to remember the nightmare that woke him from that sleep. Although he already knew why he could have nightmares every night, Regal was not used to them and the nightmares were getting worse. It was so severe that he could see the death of his family, and even to the point of seeing himself dying holding the corpse of Kallen which grew colder with time. Regal is increasingly worried about things that will happen, whether it is because it is related to what Avior said or this is the work of Regal's eyes.

When Kallen went down for breakfast Regal gave breakfast to Kallen and sat down with him. Kallen who saw her husband was agitated immediately asked. "What's wrong? You having nightmares again?" Regal looked at Kallen and replied. "No... We got a job, and this is from your mother." Kallen who heard it immediately looked excited, Regal then explained about the work they got at this time. And after knowing the details, they got ready and went straight to Belterre. Once they got there, they could see Belterre had gotten better, the buildings were better than ever. "Either I miss this place or my mother has wasted her money..." They went to the palace and met Eleanor, and once they were in the throne room, they knelt before Eleanor as Queen and their mother. Eleanor looked at them and ordered them to stand up with just her hand, seeing that Kallen's face knew that her mother was stressed, but Regal who could read one's soul could feel that Eleanor was also worried.

"How are you guys?" Regal smiled and replied. "Happy, isn't that Kallen?" Kallen nodded and replied. "Well, we're both happy..." Seeing her son happy obviously made Eleanor smile, but she remained professional and straight to the main point. "As I said in the letter, I need a bodyguard to go to the land of the Devils, but on the other hand I don't want Belterre empty unattended..." Hearing that Regal immediately nodded and accepted the job. "We'll be ready whenever you tell His Majesty." Hearing that answer, Eleanor smiled and said. "We'll leave tomorrow morning, prepare all your needs, the servants will help soon." And in the end everyone went from the throne room, but Regal was called by Eleanor to the park to talk, seeing that, Callen let her husband chat with his mother while she went around the city.

"Your marriage went well. I'm happy for that." Regal answered. "During this time she kept protecting my back and always spearheaded my every plan, you really raised a great child." The two laughed while pouring tea, until finally Regal ended the small talk by asking about work. "Why did you go to the land of the Devils? Is there an ultimatum from the demon's side?" The land of the Devils or commonly referred to as Tartarus is in the north of this continent. If a land filled with grasslands is a human habitation, and a land where many hills and high mountains are inhabited by dragons, then,so the land filled with barren and bleak land is the area of the Devils and their Kings.

"Entering Tartarus is suicide... My father had fought alongside Adrian to kill Tartarus and bring about the end of the dark ages in this world. If you die, it could be that the dark ages will return, because after all you are a protector feared by the Demon Lords." Eleanor drank her tea, from the way she acted it indicated that she knew the risk, but she had other reasons. "The devils are starting to run wild, many of them are wandering and spreading chaos since the last 10 years, if left unchecked then we will slowly weaken, he said,and I'm sure that none of the Demon Lords have rejected this opportunity... Regal, I want you and Kallen to come along, but if anything happens to us, I'd like to save Kallen, take his safety first from me..." Regal was finally aware of this situation, indeed there was currently no other choice but to make a deal with the Devils,but getting his mother-in-law and wife into the territory of the Devils to make it into enemy territory was a rash act. But there was one question that came to his mind. "Which Demon King are we going to meet?" With an expressionless face Eleanor replied. "The Demon Lord of Madness..."

Hearing that answer, Regal involuntarily let out an extremely dense Aura. His eyes turned purple just as Kallen had seen, The aura did not hurt Eleanor due to her powerful magic capacity,but this aura gave Eleanor goosebumps and the candle flame that lit up the room suddenly died but a few moments later the fire was lit again. When the candle flame returned, Regal's eyes returned to normal, but Regal suddenly felt pain from his eyes, he closed his eyes using his right hand and stood up. "I seem to be out of control, I'll excuse you..." Eleanor saw Regal coming out and leaving her, and Eleanor still could not believe what she saw. For a moment, in the darkness he saw a creature darker than the darkness itself standing behind Regal. And when their eyes looked at each other, Eleanor immediately felt a piercing sense of her old trauma.

"Could possibly..." Eleanor thought of something, but she interrupted her thinking. "If it had happened, it would have been gone a long time ago. Or does Adrian not know?" Eleanor put her thoughts aside but she still remembered the bad memories that had happened in the past. For him the important thing now is this peace, if this mission fails then there are not countless numbers of victims who will be killed later.

"Even if it's you, you're our only hope. So keep him inside you longer.. Regals..."
