Chapter 13: The Difference

The choreography training went smoothly under Ava's instructions, they could even complete the initial choreography exercises before dinner. The rest of the team did not take Ava lightly after they realized an easy way to memorize and make moves that looked sharp at the same time.

So when they go for dinner, their mood is very good and still try to practice on their own even at dinner. Ava team members returned quickly to the training room to continue reviewing their moves.

Ava tried to move with the song but the version was slow for a few times before upgrading it to the original version. This was done Ava so that his team members could adjust and memorize the movement based on muscle memory.

Once felt quite compact, Ava finally gave their opportunity to practice individually, especially to memorize song lyrics.

“I think we should memorize all the lyrics today so that tomorrow we can practice in full all day.” said Ava giving advice to Clarence when they gathered.

Clarence seriously nodded in agreement. “There is an evaluation within two days with the coaches, if we want to max out, we do have to memorize everything today.”

After being under Ava's tutelage, Clarence felt he improved his dancing abilities significantly. She also felt that Ava was a good person, especially she was indeed a bit reserved.

So when individual practice time, Ava helps team members who still have obstacles in the dance to improve their posture and movement.

“I feel more developed when taught by Ava than when I was a trainee with the company.” Clarence said with a long sigh.

“Ava's teaching efficiency is very good, her tips for memorizing choreography are very effective.” added Ellie agreed with Clarence's words. “But I'm still having trouble with vocals. Although I have tried it several times but I feel when singing it along with the dance, my voice is always unstable.”

“Try running while singing, that way you will find the right way when singing.” said Ava gave advice while resting.

Clarence, who was intending to go for a bath, stopped at the spot to hear Ava had woken up by five in the morning. “Didn't we just go to bed at three in the night?”

Ava lifted her head and looked at Clarence who asked her. “I always get up at six. Hurry up we have to go breakfast after this.”

Hearing Ava's words asking them to move faster, made everyone instantly busy for an instant. Ava herself went out of the room so as not to make the circulation in the room more full.

Ava waited while drinking water in their dorm lobby. He was seen staring blankly at the waiting wall. Several other trainee participants walked past him just like that without saying hello. Ava did not take a headache because she also did not want to talk too much because she felt tired too.

After waiting for half an hour, finally his team went down and they together went to the cafeteria for breakfast. The food menu in this place is never bad, at least according to Ava. Although a bit lacking in taste but Ava is not too concerned about it as long as the food is not stale.

“I feel like I will lose weight by just eating food in the cafeteria every day.” Leah said as she stared at the food in the unpleasant cafeteria.

“True, at least the food here is still balanced, does not cause us to even become fat. Better than salads or diet foods that other trainee participants usually have to eat.” Clarence said.

Talks about food continued until they finally had to go to the training room to practice again. This time the staff gave the training room to the whole team more exclusively so that they could train more seriously.

With such facilities, there was actually no reason for the trainee participants to be lazy. So seeing a small exercise room was enough for the six people who were practicing.

Ava stretched her body to warm up before starting to practice, seeing Ava doing it, the other trainee participants followed Ava to warm up.

After the warm-up, Ava turned around and looked at Clarence waiting for him to make a decision about training today.

Clarence looked at Ava who was waiting for his instructions. “Put training today we need to train in full.” Clarence said. “So we can know what we need to develop again.”

Everyone nodded in agreement and they began to take their respective positions in the starting position. Then Clarence put up a song for them to dance.

Once again the intro began, they began to dance the initial dance rather messily, but even so almost all the team members danced smoothly. Only a few difficult moves made them somewhat stumble.

Ava though danced, but she looked in the mirror before them to see the development of the other team members. He could see clearly which team member needed to do some more choreographed exercises.

So once they're done trying to dance together, though it's a bit messy, but they have a good cooperation and they're a bit satisfied for their first practice.

“Our collaboration is pretty good” Leah was kind of surprised to see them dancing better than they thought they were all along.

“Although a bit messy but it is good enough for the first time we dance as a group.” Clarence said happily.

Ava did not comment and just watched from the side as her group members seemed pleased with their first performance.

Scarlett who saw Ava unmoved inevitably asked in surprise. “What do you think Ava ? Not bad, is it?”

The others stared at Ava waiting for their dance teacher's reaction.

Ava nodded small while thinking. “Not bad, but there is still room for improvement.”

“Give us a little review Ava, I think we need it.” pinta Clarence unknowingly.

Ava looked at Clarence and his team members one by one who were waiting for him. Seeing them waiting for him, he could only sigh. “First of all, we need to repeat a little bit the hardest part for us. That way we should be much neater next. Second, some of you are still somewhat out of rhythm.” Ava said to the rappers who took the chance of making a mistake. “Then third, I think we need to expand our group training.”

Those whose rappers nodded in agreement, they were not used to the rhythm yet and they did need a lot more practice. It's a bit hard to rap while dancing, so they can't avoid mistakes.

After getting a review from Ava, they began to practice again more neatly, Ava guiding those who still make mistakes while choreographing and giving a little tips to add personal charm during their part.

After moving their choreography to look more presentable, Ava let the others practice individually. Clarence as chairman also approved Ava who prioritizes group cooperation first. Because for him, choreography problems are the most difficult to train and require a lot of attention.

Their group progress was very rapid and many members of the group got an improvement so that when the next day they had to face the coach for a temporary score, they did not look scared but rather excited.

During the day, their group and the opposing group gathered in one rather large room waiting for their dance trainers, Orion and Lilith.

Both of them looked excited to see both teams in one room. Each team gave an introduction before, the second team was allowed to sit first and have their team do the dance first.

Once they were done, Lilitht especially looked very satisfied. “Your team seems to practice a lot, really looks very solid and neat.”

Orion nodded in agreement, he pointed at Scarlett who became the center with a thumbs up. “Center is very suitable, he looks very prominent and makes the overall feel of the song very good.”

Clarence as the chairman was of course pleased with this compliment, they were praised for doing the dance very well. They believe that they can win in a battle match that takes place at the end of the week.

After consecutive praise, they sat down and allowed the second team to display their performances. Because it has been performed, so Ava and the team become calmer and watch the show calmly.

When the music was on, the second team started but their performance left both coaches frowning. Ava herself also frowned, she could see that the members of this team seemed to not train in groups too often.

Because when they performed the song, it was clear the difference between the team members. There is a member who looks very stiff and even looks not memorized by his choreography.

Seeing poor cooperation left both coaches speechless once they were done with their performances.

“Team chief, why there are still members of yours who look not memorized by the existing choreography.” asked Lilith with a disappointed face.

The second team leader could only be speechless and glance at his team members with a feeling of guilt. “I'm sorry coach.”

“You shouldn't apologize to me, but to your team members. Because if you continue to perform like this, I think it will be difficult for you to perform well in the show.” Lilith said again reprimanding the members of the second team.

“Your centre doesn't even stand out at all.” added Orion. “Even the other team members look more suitable as a center than the current center.”

The second team looked to have a somber atmosphere and made the room have an uncomfortable atmosphere at all.

Ava's team also looked uncomfortable hearing members of the opposing team being scolded for not showing their best. They inevitably feel that they will get the same anger if they do not do their best in their matches.

After much advice and input from the coaches, they are welcome to return to training again. They came back to their training room gloomy but then they were happy because of the praise from the coaches.

“I feel our training paid off after getting the praise earlier.” said Leah happily.

“But seeing the second team in such an upset makes me a bit uneasy.” Hailey still feels uncomfortable despite their success.

“It appears that the second team is not training well. We are very lucky to have Ava who can teach us well.” said Scarlett was relieved to be a team with Ava.

After the dance assessment, in the afternoon they turn to meet with the rap and vocal coach. At this session the members became more nervous, because Zoo Miller who is a famous rapper will evaluate them. With his fiercely striking performances, he sits next to both vocal coaches Paris and Vincent.

The members who sang the rap inevitably became nervous due to the intimidating presence. Ava just stood quietly at the end with the rest of the members.

The second team sits down first and lets the first team show their performance first.

Without the accompaniment of the song, the first team performed their singing first. Certainly without accompaniment everything sounds very clear. So the vocal team gave a little add-lib to certain parts so that the song sounds more varied and tasty in the heart.

Because Ava had previously given his input, so the rappers in the team became more careful with their rhythm and tempo. So they are more careful in doing their part.

So with a more precise tempo and the right rhythm, they do their part really well. Their performance was excellent and satisfied the trainers, even Zoo who nodded their heads as they sang.

After their performance was over, the coaches fell silent for a while to make judgments with what they had heard before.

“Main vocalist.” Vincent calls Ava who is the lead vocalist. “Very good, very stable and no problem at all, even the other vocalists are also very good. Using add-lib to add ambiance.”

Paris also agreed with what Vincent said. “Your cooperation is very good, you could say your appearance is very complete and quite good. Keep practicing and it will be a perfect performance. So continue.”

The vocalists bowed in thanks. “Thank you coach.”

Then it was Zoo's turn to comment on the rappers on the team. Zoo muttered a little first before he commented. “Your rap ability is pretty good, no problem but be careful with your rhythm.” said Zoo praising the rappers in the group.

Of course this compliment made Hailey, Clarence, and Leah smile happily to hear it. They were very honored to have the opportunity to be praised by a great figure like Zoo. Although Zoo's professional figure looks a bit creepy in front of them, but he also appreciates the young talent who does not want to give up and practice a lot.

But the happy atmosphere did not last long because when the second team advanced, they received a lot of criticism even Zoo just put on a flat face. He did not even comment at all, Zoo could only give a stern warning to continue practicing.

The two teams that finished in value did some consulting with the coaches before returning to their own practice rooms.

The members' delight at being praised of course exploded as soon as they were in their practice room, Leah and Scarlett jump for pleasure because their workout results are fruitful and they seem to just need to practice a little more.

Ava did not join her teammates to cheer and quietly sat leaning against the wall due to fatigue. Clarence who saw Ava inevitably also felt tired.

“We trained until late yesterday, how about we rest before we practice ?” clarence asked Ava and the other team-mates.

Ava initially thought she was going to say something important, but it turned out to be just about it, so she threw away her face and took the most relaxed position unconsciously.

Hailey looked at Ava who started to stretch her body leisurely in confusion. “Are you not angry with bad rumors about you?” Hailey is not out of thought with Ava who looks very relaxed.

Ava glanced at Hailey who looked disbelieving with her attitude. But he was silent and did not comment.

“Ava, do you know why no one chose you even though you are very talented in the group selection ?” tanya Hailey tried to explain. “Because there are bad rumors that make everyone think that you are an unpleasant person.”

Ava who gave a small nod when she heard it but she looked very unconcerned.

“Are you angry ? Bad rumors have kept you away from people. It's a loss! How do you not get angry with this fact ?” hailey asked emotionally.

Ava inevitably glanced at Hailey seeing her so angry with it that it exceeded her. “Not a big deal for me.” Ava said very casually.

“Ava! Of course this is very important! It makes your reputation ugly!”

Hearing Hailey who was increasingly concerned about what was happening, made Ava sigh and looked at Hailey seriously. “Then what do you want me to do ? Say to everyone if I'm not a bad person ?”

Hailey could not answer and was only speechless to hear Ava ask her back. “I... But this isn't fair to you Ava.”

Ava of course knows that this is a bit unfair, but nothing can change. “This is not a problem for me. It's just a rumor.” anyway

Seeing Ava's calmness, Hailey felt a bit sad but also felt the way Ava had a point. Rumors will always be rumors if there is no real evidence.
