Chapter 22: The Different Style

Time very quickly passed, three days before leaving time their show faced once again on the Zoo coach to show the progress they had been training for the past two days.

The result although there are some people who are still lacking, but the rest is very satisfying and ready to perform. Zoo coaches tell them to train further until the time they perform. In the last days, Ava did not become a lazy person and joined the practice by practicing whatever they would do on stage.

They planned and gave each other a little move their friends did not look very strange or stiff. When they finished Hailey as the leader gave an opinion.

“We are quite good, as long as there is no stage fright, we should be able to do well.” Hailey said happily, but then she looked at Ava. “Except you, fix your flat expression.”

Ava nodded small but did not change her face. Hailey stared somewhat annoyed, but eventually held back and chose to sigh long. He was in a team with Ava and he was always like that when they were training, but when he was on stage obviously, he was like a different person altogether.

So he chose to just trust her and let Ava do what she wanted now.

“Alright, do your best while on stage later.” said Hailey understood Ava who was like that.

Ava then smiled and nodded. “Pasti.”

Hailey could finally just nod and start briefing the others about their show again. Ava's promise was answered when they performed a clean gladi in the morning before performing on stage in the costumes they were about to wear.

Their show will be shown in the evening, so in the morning they do a clean gladi first. They left the dorm after breakfast for the performance building.

This time a lot of fans who have been waiting in front of the building although not allowed to enter. They are here to support the trainee members who came for the clean gladi first.

When they got there, countless people were crowding in front of the entrance of the building. The trainees who took off waving their hands greeted their fans with smiles.

As Ava arrived and got off the bus, a screaming voice calling her name began to sound.

“Ava!! Ava!!”

“You are so cool Ava!!”

“Come you can definitely Ava!!”

After Ava lifted her head, she hid herself with a large hoodie and a hat covering her head. But when his name was called he had to raise his head and smile thinly at one of the fans carrying his signboard, before stepping quickly into the building and going to the dressing room.

Ava did not know when she smiled thinly, the moment was captured by fan cameras and went viral as soon as it was uploaded. Ava usually doesn't smile much, she's very cold even in the episode yesterday. He watched the other show with a flat face and only smiled occasionally. But a lot of fans are happy with her because she is even very beautiful even though she does not smile. His ability is also rated very solid by fans. Many people like to hear him sing.

Ava went to the dressing room and got the shirt she was going to wear. This shirt is an oversized basketball game shirt and black shorts along with sneakers. There was no problem with this shirt. But when he uses it, this shirt is indeed a bit less when compared to his group of friends who are dressed in sporty clothes as well but they look more crowded with accessories.

Ava's hair was just in the waves and left without any embellishments, her makeup somewhat stronger than at her show in the beginning. But this appearance still matched Ava's. Basically Ava did not say much, so she did not comment on accepting it.

Hailey, Crystal and Nancy, who were busy changing clothes, also saw Ava at the end who was already sitting waiting on the chair. They inevitably looked at each other and felt the same feeling.

Ava is a participant who has a higher ranking than them, so the treatment should be much higher. But judging from the clothes to the hairstyling, everything is very simple unlike those who even equipped hats and scarves to add accents.

But they did not dare to speak and stared at the responsible styling staff at a glance. They agreed to discuss about this later after finishing with their performance.

When they're done, they have to do a clean gladi first and wait in the dressing room for them to be called. The coaches waiting under the stage monitored how the trainees would conduct a clean gladi today. Some trainees waited quietly under the stage waiting for their turn.

The system of performing this time is made in turns so that the audience will not be bored with the existing show. In addition, trainees who have a high ranking will appear rather last so that they can attract fans to watch their shows longer.

Ava who ranked third managed to make their team perform the last of the other rap teams. But the result is that they have to wait longer and display a more striking appearance than the others.

Hailey becomes distressed knowing this, as they wait for Hailey to repeatedly make sure they do their part right. Even Hailey continues to remind Ava to give her best on stage later. Ava who from giving an answer, to just nod ended up just staying still because Hailey would continue to say to him.

“Remember Ava. Expression.” Hailey said with nervous eyes as well as serious. They waited in the waiting room with the other team and could not watch the other team training on stage for a surprise effect.

Ava looked at Hailey boredly and then pulled her hand. “Ten easy,”

Hailey suddenly realized that she seemed to have passed, she finally could only nod and sit next to Ava nervously. “I just feel our load more, we will perform at the end.”

“Very rarely can you get nervous like this ?” ava asked in a mocking tone. “Usually you will just sit still no matter.”

Hailey became somewhat irritated once reminded, she gave Ava a death look that could only be countered with amused laughter.

“Do not worry, we will do well.” Ava said as she patted Hailey softly.

The nervousness that had attacked Hailey had finally reduced even though she still continued to stare around worriedly.

One by one the teams performed on stage on the call, some rap teams came back with sad faces.

“Coach Zoo reprimanded us again.” said a member of the team sadly.

Almost all three teams that have performed can not seem to miss the sharp words of the Zoo coach after performing on stage. This made Ava's team members very worried, they were the last rap team to take the stage so they didn't know if they would be criticised as well.

When it was time for them to perform, they could not help but stifle their nervousness, except for Ava who had come to wait quietly for her turn.

The other members were very worried and started to move nervously. Ava gave a small glance at them and began to think of things that could distract them.

“Should we start heating ?” ask Ava.

“Sure! In a moment we will go on stage.” said Nancy prepared to start warming up.

“Then, what kind of heating do we need to do ?” ask Ava again.

This time it was Cyrstal who was staring at Ava in a daze. “Certainly warming up as we normally do.”

“Then, you better steamed, fried or boiled ?” ask Ava again.

Hailey, Crystal and Nancy looked at Ava confusedly with this question. Silence covered them for a while until finally, Nancy understood Ava's intentions. He did not laugh but he felt Ava was a bit difficult to guess.

“You can really joke in a situation like this ?” ask Nancy with a small laugh.

“So should I boil it or steam it ?” ask Ava again to Nancy who already understood the meaning.

“Do you really want me to boil ?” ask Nancy

Ava just laughed softly and stepped aside before the others came to their senses.

Ava's conversation makes Hailey and Crystal aware of Ava's intentions. “Did Ava just throw a joke?” ask Nancy.

“You're new to aware?” ask Nancy.

“I just found out Ava can make jokes, it's really hard to believe.” said Hailey.

“Maybe because of seeing us tense. He threw jokes like that.” Nancy said.

“Really unexpected.” says Crystal.

“They ask us to go up.” Hailey received a notice from staff asking them to go on stage.

Ava stood near the stairs up to the stage so she knew right away when they were going to have to go on stage. They had previously given a little demo about their performances so the staff had prepared for this beforehand.

The staff in charge told them about the presence of the camera and some other technical matters before letting them stand in their respective positions.

They stand in their respective positions and wait for the song to play.  Ava stood on the sidelines as she was not playing rapper along with Crystal who was also standing on the sidelines. Nancy and Hailey stand in the middle of being their center.

When the intro of the song starts playing, they start to raise their heads and start stepping. Nancy and Hailey led the team by walking in a strong hip hop style.

They walked on stage following the tempo of the song before Nancy started the song with her rap. Nancy unfolded the song seamlessly, while the other one was just her behind silently motionless and letting Nancy take the stage by herself.

They discussed this before. Perhaps this was the only time they had to master the stage alone. The other members in the back simply stood up while moving the body slightly following the song but did not move more. Every now and then, they would respond to Nancy's rap by providing an add-lip.

Hailey stepped forward with a more aggressive gesture and greeted Nancy and swapped places. Hailey, always raps more strongly that fits perfectly with the style. Unlike Nancy, Hailey is circling the stage and moving around very actively.

The Chorus separates Nancy and Hailey's parts from Ava and Crystal, so no part is too drastically changed. Especially when the Ava section opens up with hip-hop and rap styles fast but it doesn't sound heavy. She and Crystal moved together on stage while Hailey and Nancy stood behind them.

This is done so Crystal's weak rap doesn't sound empty. Moreover, moving the Crystal was rather weak. Incidentally they have an unemployed back up dancer that is Ava. So this task falls on Ava to make Crystal rap sound stronger than ever with her interaction with Ava.

Basically Ava just moves around Crystal in the usual hip-hop style to add interaction movement with Crystal so she looks more attractive.

When the two finished with the rap, Nancy and Hailey stepped up and they moved along with their respective styles to close out their show. Sometimes they also invite and interact with fans who are not on the stage. This is to add excitement to their stage.

They did a very exciting stage and enjoyed their performance to the fullest. The result was that their stage was a lot of fun and the coaches stood up and applauded them.

“Excellent appearance, you guys utilize and support each other.” coach Lilith said praising them.

“You know the advantages of each. It's great to pair Ava with Crystal. Crystal's weak rap looks invisible and is instead very interesting with your interactions. Semenatara Hailey and Nancy who have their own style is also very good to show their own style.”, said coach Zoo praised them. “Preserve.”

“I have to admit you guys really know how to cover up your friend's weaknesses.” Keegan said.

They automatically smile with pleasure and say thank you. “Thank you.”

“Preserve.” says Zoo coach.

In the end they returned to the waiting room with happy faces. Unlike other groups that are mostly criticized, they are very passionate.

“I didn't expect we would even be praised.” Hailey said happily.

“I think we just need to maintain our appearance this time.” said Nancy was also happy with the results of the clean gladi this time.

Ava said nothing and started leaning on the chair tiredly. This week he rarely expended energy other than going jogging in the morning so he was like a person out of energy after performing the song earlier.

Crystal who was sitting next to Ava looked at her who was already about to unite with the chair from being tired.

“Are you tired ?” ask him with amusement.

Ava just nodded in response.

“I have to thank you, because you helped me to be non-rigid on stage.” said Crystal, she knows her weaknesses very well.

“Not a big thing.” Ava replied as she closed her eyes.

“But I must admit that even though you are great at Rap, your dance talent is also very extraordinary.” Hailey said. “Seeing you move like just now already carries a strong hip-hop aura.”

Nancy agreed. “Absolutely. If you are in a dance group, maybe you will win very easily.”

“Dancing is not an easy thing.” says Ava.

“Of course we know that, but people with talent like you. It's a bit pointless you're on Rap actually.” said Crystal regretting it.

Ava opened her eyes and looked at her three friends tiredly. He didn't know how to explain it and it felt like there was somewhat no reason for him to explain in more detail. He could only nod small and close his eyes first.

Finally their time to perform actually arrived. The trainees who had lunch were waiting in the waiting room after fixing up and adding their make up again.

Ava this time acted honestly and sat down with her friends in the waiting room waiting patiently for the show. They sat at the very back and saw Keegan open the show as usual on stage.

The stage is open by a team that mostly has a low ranking. But even so their appearance was quite satisfying.

“They really work hard.” said Hailey next to Ava.

“Basically they are already talented. Working hard makes them even more prominent.” says Ava, she enjoys the girls singing very well. Although some of them might not get high rankings despite having real talent.

The atmosphere in the waiting room is like up and down, because after the singing team will be continued rap team and lastly the dance team which usually brings an exciting atmosphere in the waiting room. The singing team will bring a more mellow atmosphere and the rap team brings a cool atmosphere that can bring the girls can not resist moving too.

Sophie performed in the same third half as Ava. He and his team sang very well with the guitar accompaniment as they performed in front of Ava's previous team. The atmosphere became like returning to the thick atmosphere of the school thanks to their singing.

The fans and audience were also swept away in Sophie's group singing which was very easy to hear after all the heavy songs the team had previously performed. The fans can also come sing along because this song is a famous song, it obviously adds points to them.

“They are indeed really great.” Hailey said acknowledging the singing ability of Sophie and Sydney teams.

They were standing backstage because after Sophie's team it was their turn. So as soon as Sophie's performance was over, Ava gave a smile and clapped proudly at her.

“Good work.” Ava said with satisfaction. Sophie smiled happily and gave a sign so that she could be upbeat in appearance after this.

Ava's team backstage received a mic from staff before being asked to take the stage by Keegan who acted as MC.

Hailey led the team to introduce themselves to the fans. “We are No More!” yell at them at the same time. This name was thought of by them long ago and went through a long debate to decide. At least this name is not bad at all Ava thought.

Keegan didn't buy any more time after hearing yells from their fans who kept shouting calling out the name of the trainee they supported. Ava also heard it, but she circulated her gaze boldly and stared at the signboard along with the fans holding her signboard.

He saw one of the little girls holding his sign. They looked up and this little girl shook her signboard excitedly as she looked at it.

Ava could only smile faintly and give her a sign of seeing herself. Of course, the sight of hundreds of people made this little girl blush.

“Trainee Crystal !” get Keegan. “How do you think of the show you will be showing this time.”

Crystal receives the mic smile first. “Very amazing, even though I'm not a Rap singer but working with three great rappers is great fun. Our appearance will be very cool.”

Keegan pretends to be surprised and calls Ava first. “Now you become a Rapper. Wasn't in the last appearance you were the main vocal ?”

“True.”

“Then, it should be very interesting. Let's watch together!” keegan said allowing them to prepare.

The sound of fan cheers was heard accompanying them to go prepared in their respective positions. When the song finally plays, they step a few steps forward as they did in the clean gladi and stop stepping when it's time for Nancy to start singing.

Nancy raps as she steps forward to approach the audience as she does when the rehearsal is clean. She sings with vigor and gives a small move.

In hindsight, the other three members simply entered the song with a small move and provided a small add-lib without much being added.

Hailey who enters the second part of the song goes forward with aggressive rap and big strides like her rap style. He approached Nancy and gave each other a sign of a change of position. Nancy returned to the position while the stage was handed over to Hailey completely.

Just as their Chorus sings together and spreads on stage in their respective styles.

When the second verse part, Ava who from the side did rap while walking towards the middle of the stage. He stepped in hip-hop style towards the center of the stage while his other friends retreated backwards giving him a position. Ava grinned mischievously at the audience while still performing a rhythmic rap.

Ava's style and Rap are so new that they have surprised fans, even though fans have moved on and enjoyed Ava's rap.

Lastly, Crystal comes behind Ava and starts to rap in the middle of the stage while Ava surrounds her with dance and simple hip hop moves like she did in their clean gladi.

Moving Ava adds to Crystal's rap atmosphere and reduces Crystal's rap fallacy. This strategy is also to build a response from the audience to be able to enter the atmosphere of the song built by them.

At the end of the song, they sing together for the Chorus section before closing the song by posing in the middle of the stage. The fans especially Ava fans were all screaming after seeing the cool action of the stage.

Ava changed her image from an exemplary student to a cold boss in the previous song and ended up being a brat with this song.

This drastic change in concept made Ava more and more fans. Ava can display many concepts at once and seems a perfect fit for her.

After a few seconds of posing they thanked the fans and returned backstage to see the results.

“Excellent appearance!” hailey said as soon as they got off the stage.

Crystal hugged Ava as soon as they got off the stage. “Thank you!”

Ava patted Crystal's shoulder calmly. “It's my job.”

They join hands going to the room to see the results of the fan selection. The room provided there is a monitor for them to watch the voting results of the fans.

Since they enjoyed the stage they had already completed, they were not very ambitious about winning. So everyone is very calm now.

Their names appear on the screen and just need to wait for the numbers to announce their positions.

The fourth position was a Crystal that just appeared. Crystal was not surprised and simply nodded in acceptance. He did not refuse or feel sad at all. Because this experience is valuable to them.

Nancy unexpectedly got third place. They looked at each other in surprise. Nancy was not surprised. He looked at his friends with a smile.

“No problem at all.” he said with a smile.

Ava's not feeling well. Nancy is the center and she is the main rapper but did not get the first position.

The first and second positions appear simultaneously. And unexpectedly Hailey got first place and Ava in second. Hailey became at a loss for words and lowered her head began to cry.

Nancy who was sitting next to him immediately hugged him tightly. Ava and Crystal snuggled around and hugged trying to calm down.
