MAHABARATA
EPISODE 15'S. BAKASURA'S DEATH

In the city of Ekacakra, the Pandavas disguised themselves as brahmins. They were begging in the streets. They brought what they got to their mother. If they were late to go home, Dewi Kunti became anxious, afraid that they might be doomed.

Then, Dewi Kunti will divide the food they get into two. One part for Bima and the other part for the other four Pandavas and the mother. Bima, the son of the Wind God, has tremendous strength and appetite

a very big one. That is why he is also nicknamed Wrekudara, which means "wolf belly". Wolves, as we know, always seem to starve, no matter how much they eat. Their stomachs are always hungry. Because the appetite is never satisfied and the food they get is never enough, Bima's body becomes thin. Seeing this, my mother and

his brothers became anxious. One day, Bima met a jug maker. Bima likes that guy. He likes to help dig and transport clay. In return, the pitcher presented Bima with a large pot. Because of the pot, Bima became a mockery in the streets.

One day, when his brothers went begging. Bima lives at home with her mother. Suddenly they heard the wailing from the house owner. Must be something really sad about that family. Dewi Kunti ventured to find out what really happened. The Brahmin and his wife were unable to say anything because of their cries. Finally the brahmin said to his wife:

"Poor and foolish woman, I repeatedly said that we should leave this city forever. But you disagree. You have always said that you were born and raised here and here too - the place of parents and relatives

your brother lives and dies you'll stay. How can I live without you, my life partner, my beloved children's mother. You are everything to me. I can't let you go to die, while I'm staying here. This daughter God has given us until the time we leave it to a proper man. We cannot sacrifice our daughters. He is the son God gave us in order to continue our descent. Nor can we sacrifice our sons.

How can we live after sacrificing our only consolation in life and hope after we die? Who will give the offering ceremony for us and our ancestors. O Lord, you did not listen to my words and this is the result. If I sacrifice myself, these two kids will

dead because no one will protect. What am I supposed to do? We'd better all just die." After saying so,

the brahmin could not help his crying.

His wife replied: "I have been a good wife to you and have done my duty well by giving birth to these two children. I will not be able to protect them, but you can certainly, like the leftovers thrown away and snatched by greedy birds, so the fate of a widow, is easy

played with bad men. The dogs fought over a wet cloth covered in butter. Pulling him here and there greedily, tearing him to pieces into rags. Therefore, a widow will only be the game of the wicked. I can't protect two kids

orphans-they'll just die horribly, like fish in a dry pond. I'd better be handed over to the giant. Happy is the woman who dies first from her husband. As you know, that is what is written in the literary books. Say good-bye to me. Take care of our children. I am happy living with you. I've done a lot of good. By my faithful devotion to you,

I am sure I will be well received in heaven. For a good wife, death is not something to fear. After I die, find another wife. Strengthen my heart with your sincere smile. Bless me and deliver me to the giant."

Hearing his wife's reply, the brahmin embraced his wife gently. He was so overwhelmed with courage and courage

his wife's love.he cried as much as a child. With great difficulty, he said: "My beloved and noblest wife,

I can't live without you. The main task of a married man is to protect his wife. I'm gonna be a man

the worst if you hand you over to be the prey of the giant. It was the same as sacrificing love and

take off my duties."

Hearing the talk of his parents, crying one of his daughters spoke: "Father and Mother, please listen to me, even though I am only a child. Do what needs to be done. I am the only one worthy of being given to that giant. By sacrificing me, you can save our family. Let me be that boat

saving mom and dad through this disaster. If father and mother die, me and baby sister will definitely die too because there is no one to protect. If by my sacrifice we can survive, I will be happy. In fact, if father and

I'm only considering my well-being, I think you and mom should send me to the giant."

Hearing his son's words, the brahmin and his wife hugged their daughter while holding back tears. Their young son said to his parents, with sparkling eyes:

"Dad, don't cry. Mother, don't cry. Brother, don't cry" while infiltrating from one lap into the other. After saying so, he got up to pick up a piece of firewood. With a still slurred voice he brandished the wood and shouted: "I'll kill the glass with this stick." The behavior of the child made the father, mother, and older sister smile sadly. Their eyes glazed over. Dewi Kunti, who had been listening to their conversation, felt that it was time to interrupt their conversation.he knocked on the door and asked what was the cause of their grief. He asked what he could help.

The brahmin said: "O mother, we have been hit by a very heavy accident. Mom couldn't help us. Outside the city, there is a cave. There lived a cruel giant named Bakasura. It had been thirteen years that he had enslaved this city and kingdom. The ruling knights of this country had already fled to Wetrakiya. They cannot protect us and protect us. In the past, whenever hungry, he came out of the cave and preyed on people, no matter men or women, adults or children. Then, the residents pleaded: "Don't you kill us arbitrarily. We'll be handing in a week

enough food and drink for you. We will send it in a carriage pulled by two buffaloes and a human being taken from every house. You may eat all that, but you must not kill arbitrarily. The giant agreed with the offer. From then on, Bakasura protected us from outside enemies and beasts that threatened us. This agreement has been going on for years.

money to buy our life replacements. We won't be able to live quietly if we send one of us. Because of that,

we decided to go to family. Let the greedy giant be satisfied with our sacrifice. We made my mother feel sad

with our story, but my own mother asked for it. Only God can help us. But now we have

lost all hope."

The political lessons summarized in this Ekacakra story are worthy and interesting to note.

Dewi Kunti talked about the sad story with Bima and then returned to the family. Kunti said: "Good Brahmin, do not despair. The Supreme and Most Great Gods. I have five children. One of them will deliver food to the giant."

Hearing Kunti's words, the brahmin was startled and jumped in joy. But then, he immediately sat back down. he shook his head. He refused to be replaced. Kunti Word:

"Brahmana, don't be afraid. My son has power beyond the ability of ordinary humans if they cast a spell. la must be able to kill the giant. I saw for myself he killed the giants. But you have to keep this a secret. Otherwise, his power won't be able to come out."

Actually, Dewi Kunti was afraid if this news spread outside the kingdom. If that happened, Duryudana would know about the Pandavas and thus would know where they were.

Bima was very happy and impatient to immediately carry out his mother's orders. When his brothers came home from begging, they were astonished to see the radiant face of Bima. Yudhishthira asked the mother what made Bima beaming and excited. Kunti told me everything that happened.

Says Yudhistira: "How is this? Don't be rash and hasty. Are we gonna let him fight the giant

that, while we sleep and forget about danger and distress? Do we not hope to reclaim the throne of the kingdom with the strength and courage of Bima? Can't we escape the palace fire because of the power of Bima? Why did Mother endanger Bima's life which is our protection and hope?

Ananda's worried, pity keeps mom from thinking clearly."

Dewi Kunti replied: "My son, long enough we live safely in this brahmin house. Our duty is to repay his virtue with good deeds. I know very well the strength of Bima and mother is not worried at all. Remember who brought you

we from warawanata and kill the Hidimba giants. We do good to this brahmin family."

Residents collect food and drinks which are then loaded into a car pulled by two buffalo. Subsequent to

ready, Bima drove the carriage towards the giant cave.

The train was moving forward with musical accompaniment. When they reached their designated place, the townspeople returned.

They left Bima alone with the carriage. At the mouth of the cave, bones, human skulls, and food scraps

the rotting ones scattered. Various insects swarmed the remains of food, while vultures floated on the decaying remains of corpses. Bima stopped the carriage and began to finish off the food that was actually going to be given to the giant. He said to himself; "I'll just finish this meal. Before splashing because of my fight with the giant. Besides, if I manage to kill him, my body will definitely get dirty from the dead bodies and I can't enjoy this meal."

The giant whose anger was peaking because he was forced to wait a long time, became angry to see what Bima did. Bima also saw the giant. la challenge the giant to fight. Giant very large body, mustache, beard, and red hair and very big mouth immediately ran over Bima. The bima just smiled no matter. He dodged from the monster's safety. Many times the giant punched Bima in the back, but Bima continued to eat without caring about the giant. Then, the giant knocked down the big trees and threw them towards Birna. Bima still did not care about the giant, only his left hand moved to fend off the attack. He remains engrossed in his food. Only after finishing eating, until the toilet, and wiping his mouth, Bima rose to his feet with a satisfied grin and faced the giant.

So, there was a big fight. Bima played the giant. He slammed into the ground and challenged him to stand up again. Thus, the giant was repeatedly thrown around like a toy doll. Finally, Bima slammed the giant

hard to the ground. He struck the giant with his knee and broke his bones. The giant roared in pain, vomited blood, and briefly died. Bima dragged his corpse to the city gate. He returned to the brahmin house where he hitchhiked, cleaned himself up, and told his mother what he had done.
