EPISODE 8'S. GODDESS KUNTI


SURA, Sri Krishna's grandfather, was a respectable descendant of the Yadav dynasty. Her daughter, Pritha, is famous for her beauty and kindness


his buddies. Because his cousin Kuntibhoja had no children, Sura gave Pritha to be adopted. From then on, Pritha became known as Dewi Kunti, following the name of her adoptive father.


When Dewi Kunti was a child, Resi Durwasa lived long enough in his adoptive father's house. Dewi Kunti served the rishis with care, patience, and devotion. Resi Durwasa was so pleased with Dewi Kunti's attentive attitude that he bestowed a magic spell on the little princess. Said:


"With this mantra, you can summon a god, whoever he is. He will appear before you and give you a child of such majesty." Resi Durwasa rewarded the little princess with a magic spell because she could predict with her yogic powers that she would have bad luck with her husband.


Out of curiosity, one day he tried that magic spell. He chanted a spell and called out to Batara Surya who


it emits its light from the light. Suddenly the sky became dark covered in clouds. Then, from behind the clouds appeared Batara Surya in front of the beautiful Goddess Kunti. The god stared with a look of amazement and passion. The goddess Kunti who was fascinated by the magical power and authority of her great guest asked: "Who is Her Majesty?"


Batara Suya replied: "Daughter, I am the Sun God. You called me by the power of the child-givering mantra you spoke."



Kunti was very surprised and said: "Hamba is an unmarried girl and is still dependent on the servant's father. I am not ready to be a mother and I do not want a child. I just want to try the magic of the spell given by Resi Durwasa. I beg Your Majesty to return to Kahyangan. Forgive my stupidity." However, Batara Surya can not return to kalhyangan because of the magical power of the spell. Dewi Kunti is very anxious if she is pregnant because she is not married. He was afraid that he would be scorned by the whole world. Batara Surya calmed the princess:


"No one will scorn you. After giving birth to my son, you will return a virgin."



Finally, Kunti contains the blessings of Batara Surya, which gives light and life all over the face of the earth. Unlike ordinary humans who took nine months, divine birth could happen instantly. Kunti gave birth to Karna who was born complete with a set of weapons


holy war, ear ornaments. The boy was brilliant and handsome like the Sun God. Later, he will become one of the heroes


Kunti was confused as to what he should do with the boy. To avoid embarrassment, Kunti put the boy into a sealed box and washed him in the river. It so happened that a childless carriage saw the box that was washed away by the river.he took the box and opened it. He was very shocked and happy when he found a handsome baby in the box. He immediately handed it to


his wife. The wife received it with abundant mother love. Thus, Karna, the son of Batara Surya, was nurtured and raised


as a child of the family sais the horse-drawn carriage.


When it was time for Dewi Kunti to get married, King Kuntibhoja invited all the crown princes of the surrounding kingdoms to


following the contest to become the husband of his adopted daughter. Many people follow the contest because Kunti is famous as a princess


beautiful and kind. Finally, Kunti draped a wreath of victory sign on the neck of King Pandu. Pandu is


the brilliant descendants of Bharata. His personal nobility outperformed all the crown princes who followed the contest. Ceremony


the wedding was done solemnly. Afterwards, Kunti followed her husband back to Hastinapura.


Because of Bhisma's advice and according to the customs of the era, Raja Pandu took Dewi Madri, the sister of King Madra, to be


second wife. In ancient times, kings had two or three wives to ensure the survival of their offspring and not just to fulfill sexual urges.
