For the past three days, it has only been spent by walking in tourist attractions. Getting around by city bus. Take a walk in the city crowd. Completely without direction and purpose. Like a lost child with a look watching the surroundings. Just in case you might see Edgar. But it was futile. I waited three nights on Dixie Street without any results. The person I wanted to meet the most did not show up at all. Sienna herself continued to urge me to go home because my efforts were not at all fruitful. While time goes on. I've been here five days.
Tonight I'm going back to Dixie Holly. With hope every night to meet Wallace again. Roger remains a confidant driver when out at night. He always waited in the taxi without being bored. While I drowned myself in the crowd of visitors on Dixie Street. Again I just sat there waiting. Some time waiting for myself came a thought that made me feel stupid. Waiting for something unclear. And it's not certain. I felt desperate and left from there. But just a few steps the voice called out to me.
"Eriza."
I stopped walking, silent and motionless. Possibly .... I'm turning. Immediately I felt my heart racing fast. I smiled happily and quickly approached him. But once in front of him I was speechless. I'm getting nervous.
"Have not met for a long time. I'm glad to see you're in good shape!" wallace said softly.
" Wallace, is this really you?" I asked stupidly.
Wallace smiled as he nodded.
" Yes, it's me! I thought you had forgotten about me" he said.
"I can't even forget you! With all the postcards and messages you sent how could I forget you? Hey, how do you know my home address?" manya curious.
"Someone. Then, what are you doing here?" ask Wallace trying to shift the topic.
"I've been here a few nights. Waiting for you here. I'm almost desperate and I'd rather go back to Losta if I don't see you tonight!" my answer.
"You didn't come just to see me, did you?" guess Wallace.
I didn't answer. Accurate throws. I looked at his face deeper. His face did not change, it was just too pale under the bright spotlight.
"Wallace, why is your face so pale? Are you sick?" much worry.
I put my palm on his face. But spontaneously my hand moved away after feeling her extremely cold face. Wallace looks very uncomfortable with what I'm doing. He hid his face into a corner of a darker place. All this time I never paid so much attention to his face because the place we visited was very low in light.
"I'm fine! Maybe because the weather tonight is a bit cold, I feel a little cold!" answer carefully.
"Then let me buy you a hot drink!" I said later.
But Wallace refused quickly.
"Don't. No need to I mean. I just want to talk to you! Isn't that what you want too?! So, don't go."
"All right," I said, nodding.
Wallace began to walk into the cathedral courtyard. I just followed him from behind. Then walk around the cathedral is large enough to go to the back which is a park. This park is quite well maintained. Although there are only two garden lights as lights. Simply highlight the beauty of the garden.
Wallace was sitting on a wooden bench. He signaled me to sit next to him. I also followed it with awkward feelings.
"Honest! What are you doing in New Angeles to be willing to leave your college!? You didn't come to this town just to see me, did you?" wallace asked calmly but seriously.
"How did you know I left college to come here? Who told you?" I asked back a little strangely.
"I know everything I want to know, except your mind! I can't read what you think and how your heart is filled" Wallace replied calmly.
"Today you are so weird!" I just said.
"You're starting to feel that way? I'm a lot stranger than you think! Until I was so afraid you'd ..," Wallace fell silent.
"What will?" I asked quickly.
"Will laugh at me" he replied calmly.
I'm grinning.
"Not funny!" grumbling.
"Have you ever missed me?" ask Wallace suddenly.
Yes, I am very and always miss you. I wanted to say that but my throat was stuck. It's hard to say that word. So that I could just be quiet.
"It's okay if you never miss me. I just want you to know that I don't forget you once!" wallace said later.
I was back in silence just able to look at him. A feeling that has been buried all this time that I want to convey but it is difficult to say.
"So, will you tell me what you're doing in this town, Riza?" wallace asked once more in a softer tone.
"I'm looking for Edgar Juan Henley" I replied.
"What's looking for it?" ask Wallace. His face changed somewhat.
"I'm just trying to prevent him from bothering you!" my answer.
"Why should he bother me?" Wallace asked back.
"Because ... I don't know what that means. But he was trying to prevent something" I replied not daring to say it blatantly.
"What are you afraid of? Why should you chase him here?" ask Wallace.
"Wallace, I don't want him to say anything to you. Just like the thing he told me. Since that day I haven't spoken to her and she never came to New Angeles. I immediately thought that she would look for you and scold you here," I said emotionally.
"Riza, you don't have to be afraid. I don't think he would have done that" Wallace said calmly.
"Is that really so?" I'm not sure.
"There's nothing to be afraid of, Riza! Sometimes we can't prevent something unwanted from happening" Wallace said.
"You mean?" my many.
"It's nothing. Isn't it late at night? Maybe you should go home!" said Wallace.
I saw the clock on my phone. It's sure eleven o'clock at night.
"But there's still so much I want to talk to you about, Wallace!" I said.
"We can talk another time!" wallace.
"Okay, I'm back at seven tomorrow night! You should come, yes!" I asked before I left.
"I'll go home first. The night!"
"Night. Be careful on the road!" message Wallace.
I nodded and left Wallace. Mixed feelings envelop the heart. On the other hand was so happy, while on the other hand felt that there was something strange about him. But I do touch that feeling. The longing that was buried for so long was at least slightly cured.
I know it's midnight, Sienna must be asleep. But I didn't care, I grabbed my phone and started typing at length about my encounter with Wallace and sent it. Tomorrow morning Sienna will definitely repay him.
Yeah, it's true, early in the morning he called me. Talked a lot with me. He just ended our conversation as aunt Jane yelled calling him down for breakfast. I can't wait for the night to come back.
...****************...
Since noon it has rained down on New Angeles. It was fortunate that the rain had subsided before seven in the evening. Even though it's still drizzling outside. I hope your arrival at Dixie Holly will be completely gone.
At 18:30 I was ready with warm clothes and gloves. It is enough to cover the skin from the cold. I went out of the hotel and saw Roger waiting. I eagerly got into the cab ready to take me to Dixie Holly.
"You look so excited, Eriza!" goda Roger's.
"Yes. Shouldn't it be?!" smile back.
"Not yet" I replied slowly. I almost forgot my original purpose here.
"Don't give up! I'm sure you'll meet him!" roger said cheering.
"Yes! Thanks," I replied.
I arrived at Dixie Holly. A cold chill hit my face as soon as I got out of the taxi. Like my hope the rain has indeed subsided by leaving the wet road. I can't wait to see Wallace again.
A happy smile immediately flashed on my lips as soon as I saw Wallace already in front of the cathedral. Wallace also threw his smile at me.
"Have you waited a long time?" my many.
"Just now!" the answer.
"You want to go for a walk?" Wallace.
Tumben thought to me. Not wanting to wait for long I nodded quickly. And we started walking down the side of Dixie Street. Tonight was quieter than usual. Maybe because it's cold outside after the rain so people are reluctant to go outside.
"Have you ever been to the Maera Mansion?" wallace asked as soon as we passed in front of the old mansion.
"Have once. But I don't like it in there. Too stuffy and dusty. So, I just entered up to the main room," I replied.
"So, isn't it because you're scared?" tease Wallace.
"What to fear?" tanyaku relax.
"Isn't the place haunted?" wallace.
"But I didn't see anything! It just looks like an old, unkempt house" I said.
"yes too. If you're a coward, you won't be here all night alone!" said Wallace.
"What are you doing here alone every night?" I asked back.
"I'm waiting for you!" wallace answered confidently.
"Before you met me?" ask again.
"Streetings. Eliminates saturation!" answer Wallace.
"Oh," I muttered. Suddenly I remembered something.
"Oh yeah, I want to ask you something!" I said quickly to Wallace.
"What's that?" ask Wallace.
"You know the Lucent Inn at the end of that street, don't you?! Do you know why the inn was closed? I heard that place is so haunted that not even a single person dared to approach. And one more thing, I once accidentally saw the sighting of someone on the third floor of the inn! What do I see is a ghost?" I explained quickly to Wallace.
But Wallace momentarily fell silent with an expressionless face. Like thinking of something.
"Yes, what you see is a ghost. He's the waiter for the inn. He would disturb anyone who dared to go in there. That's why no one dared to approach the inn! But I salute you, you're a pretty brave girl!" wallace replied with a faint smile.
I shuddered when Wallace said what I saw was a ghost.
"I don't believe in rumors. Then, why was the inn closed for no apparent reason?" tanyaku later.
"That's because they were always bullied by the inn's waiter. The ghost had been there long before the inn was built. And he doesn't like to have his place disturbed. Therefore he disturbs the humans to leave" Wallace explained solemnly.
"You know a lot. But your story is different from the stories I hear from people" I said.
"Of course I know more. I grew up here. People out there are deliberately making up stories to sound interesting so that more and more tourists come here" Wallace explained.
I just nodded my head. Understanding Wallace's story. We're still walking. A few moments of silence. On a shortcut we turned. The road that connects Dixie Street with Stairway Street. On a narrow, quiet street with minimal lighting, Wallace held my hand. I was jerked. Even though I was wearing gloves, Wallace's cold hand was penetrating to the skin of my hand.
The air tonight is very cold. No wonder his hands were so cold. I only salute him if he doesn't feel cold at all.
"It was cold tonight. Aren't you cold?" my many.
"No. I'm used to this kind of weather" replied Wallace calmly.
"Great. I can't even stand the cold air! Just a little rain was enough to make me shiver," I said.
Wallace smiled. He gently squeezed my hand. I could feel his hands cold and stiff.
Until we entered Stairway Street. This road is deserted. We walked hand in hand towards the old building where we used to sit.
We sat side by side on one of the steps of the building. Wallace still refused to take my hand off. He grabbed it, clasped it with both hands. Then he kissed her. I just kept staring at him. Is that proof of his love? He hasn't even expressed his feelings for me.
"I'm so happy tonight!" said Wallace softly.
I smile. "Me too!"
Wallace pulled my hand and stuck it to his face. His face was so smooth, pale and stiff. I keep looking at him. For a moment we looked at each other for a long time. Wallace's face looked happy but the longer his blue eyes became mellow. He turned his face away and let go of my hand.
"Have you found the man you're looking for?" tanyakanya. Like switching topics.
"Yet. I've been looking for him in almost every hotel in town. But there was no guest by that name" I replied half-confused by Wallace's change in attitude.
"He didn't stay at the hotel. He lives in an apartment" Wallace said.
I scrunched my forehead.
"How do you know?" many wonder.
"She lives in Mediterania Residence, Montana. You can go there looking for him!" answer Wallace. But not the answer to my question.
"You haven't answered. How do you know that?" I repeated my question.
"I know everything" Wallace answered briefly but surely.
"Go home, it's night! It's time to rest!" Wallace continued.
I feel Wallace is a little weird tonight. But I can't argue, it's past my usual home hours. I regret why time passes so quickly. I really need to leave soon.
"alright. I'll go home first! You want to come home with me? I can have Roger escort you to St. Barbara!" I offered.
"No. It's been too late. I don't want to trouble. Roger needs a rest, too. I can go home by myself later," Wallace refused.
"OKAY. But, don't go home too late! Bye, Wallace! Good nights!" pamit.
"Nights. Be careful on the road, Riza!" message Wallace.
I nodded and smiled. Then leave Wallace alone in his place.
I got into the cab. Inside Roger was listening to the radio.
"Roger, tomorrow at 9am please take me to Mediterania Residence in Montana!" my message to Roger.
"Ready, Miss!" roger and the taxi left Dixie Holly.
