Finally Coming Home After All these years

For the first time being far away and alone in this unfamiliar city was not easy. Adjust to the environment and people around the dormitories and offices. With some people who seem less friendly. I try not to mind that problem. Because there are other friends here who care about me.

A year passed quickly. After a year of working as an employee, entering the second year I was confided. I got a promotion on a two-year contract. I'm really very lucky. My friends here are also supportive. This year I started living alone. Leaving the dormitory and renting a small apartment. My time will be more and more free than being in an employee dorm with some strict rules. All this time I kept in touch with Edgar. I also often give word by phone to aunt Jane and Sienna. Sienna's been a year in Jackville. I have been to Losa several times. While I will still be here for the next two years. I can only go home after my contract expires. Although far from home and my friends, but I'm happy. I really enjoyed my life here. With the rush of work I even began to forget my grief over Wallace's loss. Sometimes I pray for him to be calm and happy in nature. And the vcd that Edgar gave was also enough to treat my longing for Losta. I always open it when I miss them. I'm back to being me again.

Three years, four years had finally passed. Where my contract is completed. The company is very satisfied with my work. He extended my contract for the next three years. But after thinking for a moment I asked for an offer to take the contract for a year.

"Sir, next year I plan to go back to my hometown and take a long vacation there" I explained to the leader.

Fortunately the leader agreed and granted my request.

"All right, I'll give you another year's contract. Next year you can go home and take a vacation as long as you want. After that, you can return to the company. I will extend my contract for the next three years. I hope you're ready!" said the company leader.

"good. Thank you, sir!" my reply.

One day I was cleaning up at the apartment. Edgar called and protested with my decision.

📲[What? Another year? I thought you were going home this year!] Edgar's voice on the phone.

"I'm just going home next year! Is that a problem?" my many.

📲[No problem. I just can't wait to see you. We haven't met for four years! You're so stingy you never sent me a single photo!] edgar said with a grumbling voice.

"Mahaha .... I don't want to look bad on camera. You know I'm always ashamed to see footage of myself in the vcd you gave me!" I said.

📲[You still open it often? Did I say it would treat your longing for Losta, right?! So do I, I always open that vcd when I miss you. I'm so happy to see you singing and laughing. I never get tired of hearing your voice.]

"There is no need to fight. I still have work. We'll talk next time, yeah! Bye ...," I said.

📲[Alright, take care of yourself. Bye ..] Phone's closed. I came back with my work.

One year has passed. The long-awaited year has finally arrived. Where I'm going back to Losta. After taking care of the letter and saying goodbye to the company leader. I'm getting ready to pack up my stuff in the apartment. Tomorrow morning I'll be home by plane the morningest. I just told Aunt Jane my return. For not interrupting Sienna and Edgar's work so I went home quietly.

I arrived at the airport in Losta. Then by taxi home to Aunt Jane. The atmosphere in front of the house looks quiet. The door closed. I'm just gonna push the bell when the door opens. Aunt Jane emerged from the inside with a fluffy smile hugging me longingly.

"Dance .... You finally came home! Auntie misses you so much. And look at you now grown up!" aunt Jane said with pride.

"Auntie, I miss you so much!" I said while hugging him tightly.

"Come, in! As long as you and Sienna go this house becomes very quiet. But Auntie never let this house slip away. Auntie keeps looking after your room. Just like when you were here! Keep your things in the room first. Auntie get the dining table ready!" said aunt Jane.

I went up to my room with my things. Nothing has changed in this house since I left. I got to the front door and turned the doorknob. Not locked. I push slowly. Suddenly someone jumped out shouting,

"Welcome Eliza ...!"

I jumped in shock. Apparently Sienna, Justin, Suzan and Edgar as well. They're all smiling. Sienna and Suzan hugged me even though I was still gawking in confusion. It must be Aunt Jane who told them.

"You surprise me!" I said.

"It's nasty! Go home secretly! I miss you" protested Sienna.

"sorry. Excuse me. I thought you guys were busy!" I said.

"Eriza, you haven't changed!" said Edgar who was standing a little behind.

I looked at him with a smile. The young man looked more mature and handsome than he was five years ago.

"You expect me to change?" godaku's.

"No. I prefer you now!" edgar said shyly.

Everyone cheered Edgar. I just laughed.

Sienna purposely left me and Edgar here. I looked at Edgar while shrugging my shoulders. Then put my stuff in the room. Edgar helped me bring some. I threw my body on the bed. This room is still the same as before. It feels so comfortable.

"Ehem. Ahem," Edgar cleared his throat.

I just realized he's still here. I woke up sitting on the bed.

"It's more comfortable in your own room, isn't it?" tanyakanya.

"Yes. It feels like it's been gone a long time!" I replied as I got down from the bed and walked to the window to open the width of the curtain.

"I've never closed the window curtain as long as I'm here. I really like to see the sky from this window" I said as I stared out the window.

At least I remembered Wallace. But that's no longer a reason to be sad. I turned away from the window and unpacked a bag of souvenirs.

"How's your job now? How's Ginnevra? I haven't contacted him in a long time" I asked.

"I don't want to be busy with work. Being an artist makes my life not free. So, I quit and chose to help the family company. Brother is fine! Now he's in a relationship with Alex!" answer Edgar.

"really? I didn't think they were finally going out" I said.

"Yes, everyone's got their partner. It's just you, Eriza!" said Edgar. But I'm quiet.

"I'm still waiting. Five years ago I didn't ask for your answer. But now I want answers from you! Eriza, I really love you!" edgar said solemnly.

"I need time to think, Edgar! You are my best friend. I don't want to regret making a mistake. Can you give me a little more time?" I asked Edgar.

"certain. I told you I'd wait until you were ready. And for that long I want to stay by your side as always" replied Edgar.

"I know you won't let me go alone" I said. And Edgar laughed.

We chatted for quite a while until Sienna yelled telling us to come down for lunch. They were smiling to see me and Edgar coming. Before I start lunch, I hand out the gifts I brought to all of them. Everyone is happy to receive it. But Sienna's face seemed the happiest. I'm curious.

"From this moment I noticed Sienna's face was so happy! Is there something?" I asked Edgar while whispering.

"Later you'll know!" edgar replied while whispering as well.

I stared at him scowl. And we started eating. After lunch together everyone gathered in the living room. The dining table is still a mess. I feel like I need to clean it up first. It was like my custom in this house.

I picked up all the dirty dishes and washed them. Edgar helped me too. The work was completed faster. We joined the living room as soon as the dining table was clean. At that moment Sienna started to announce something.

"Because my cousins and best friends have gathered here. There's something I want to tell you!" Sienna started the conversation. While looking at Justin with a happy smile he continued his words.

"Justin and I decided to get married next month!"

Everyone cheered and applauded.

"Married?" myrag. I hugged my cousin tightly. I am so glad to hear this happy news.

"Sienna, I'm happy for you! You're finally getting married!" I said to Sienna with great interest.

"Thank you, Riza! After me, you should quickly catch up as well, huh!" sienna Goda while glancing at Edgar.

I elbowed. And he laughed. That was my first day home. Totally full of joy. There's one more thing I just found out, as long as Justin's in Losa apparently he's living in this house. While Sienna and Justin are still chatting on the porch of the house. I chose to go back to my room. Remove clothes from suitcases.

I stared out the window. Tonight there are a lot of stars in the sky. I remember the old times again. I keep the window curtains open. I turned to my desk. The position and all the items on top of it have not changed. Aunt Jane really took care of this room for me. I pulled the bottom desk drawer. The drawer seemed relieved by a magazine on it. D under that pile of magazines I kept my diary. A book I have long ignored. I reopened it. On a page that was deliberately folded, I didn't want to open it. I turned to the empty page. Then write on it.

...After five years of leaving Losa. Today is the first time I'm coming back. To a warm house and comfortable rooms. I got a lot of surprises today. And the happiest news was hearing that Sienna and Justin were getting married. I am happy for them. Although maybe Aunt Jane should stay alone again....

I stopped writing and closed my diary. Then I tucked it under the pillow like I used to. I opened the laptop and turned the vcd that had been with me while away from Losta. I watched it until I was sleepy.
