Bab 33
Diane was about to call her grandfather, but William waved his hand, telling her not to bother Gerald.
He knew that they were not important enough for the old man to stop what he was doing to listen to them.
Dian bit her lip. This was not the first time he had been in such a situation.
If Steven and his son were to come, things wouldn't look like that.
After a long time, Gerald finally finished reading all the scriptures, and slowly opened his eyes.
He turned around and looked at William and his daughter, and frowned.
"You're here."
He only said these two words calmly and slowly, as if these two people standing in front of him were not his own sons and grandsons.
"Dad, I need to talk to you about something."
William was used to the way Gerald treated him.
Ever since he became disabled and was unable to contribute to Palmers anymore and even needed financial help from the family, he lost his position in the family.
If Steven and his son hadn't gone too far in attacking Diane, he wouldn't have wanted to be here at all.
"Speak."
Gerald said very little, as if he was unwilling to put out additional words for William.
"Project led by Diane. This is a very important project for the Palmers family, right?"
Gerald frowned. He thought William had come today to get some benefits from it.
He knows about this matter. Steven had told him earlier that Diane had used some means to get Tom Foster to insist that he remain in charge of the project, otherwise he would refuse to do the project.
He was already unhappy about this, but he did not want to say anything after considering the greater benefits for Palmers.
He didn't expect William to come knocking on his door to make a profit.
Does he really think that the Palmer family can't manage this project without Diane?
When she thought about this, Gerald was even more disgusted in her eyes when she saw Diane.
There is no point in having a daughter. They will be married off, and may even bring some assets with them when they get married.
"Yes, that's very important."
Gerald looked up. "Isn't Diane in charge now? Wh why? What else do you want?"
Diane felt a slight discomfort in her heart when she heard this.
Did his grandfather think that they would come here just because they wanted something? Like asking for some profit for themselves?
William shook his head. "We're members of the Palmer family, so it's only natural that we work for the Palmer family. I don't have any requests, and I don't intend to make any gains for myself."
"But, Steven has made trouble again and again, affecting Diane's work and even trying to ruin this project by all means! Isn't that too much?!"
William was getting nervous.
"He found some gangsters to create trouble for Diane, create trouble at the factory construction site and even wanted to harm Diane. What does this mean? This project belongs to the Palmer Group, and not mine or my daughter!"
Gerald's eyes widened and stared intently at William.
"What did you say?"
Gerald didn't seem to trust William at all.
"That's impossible."
He immediately continued, "Steven is your elder brother, and he is now the CEO of Palmer Group. He won't do anything that will cause the company to suffer losses."
"Dad!"
William became worried. "Do you think I'm going to lie to you?"
There is evidence of everything that happened. Does he have to make Ethan drag some of those hooligans here to give Gerald some accountability before he believes it?
"Hmph, why do I trust you?"
Gerald calmly said instead, "Steven isn't that kind of person."
William stared blankly at Gerald. He suddenly felt that he was really stupid for coming here to question Steven's actions.
It was impossible for Gerald to believe it.
For Gerald, only Steven is his son – what is he?
"William, I know this is hard for you, being paralyzed for years. You can't get a penny for the family and you even have to beg me for money, it must feel terrible."
William's eyes are red now.
"But you shouldn't slander your brother like that. If he hadn't helped you financially all this time, your family wouldn't have survived until now."
"Diane was in charge of this project just because Steven kept recommending her to me, in the hope that I would give your family a chance. And now that you not only failed to keep an eye on Diane and make sure she worked hard, you've even come here to vilify your brother?"
Gerald shook his head, his face filled with disappointment. "You're making me very disappointed."
"Grandfather..."
Dian was getting angry. Gerald spouted nonsense!
"You don't talk."
Gerald cut it off immediately. "You have no right to speak in this house!"
