Arc 1 Chapter 4: Selection

[City of Freidburg, Year 735 Months 5 days to 15]

In the afternoon, Luciel was delivering some sword orders requested by the City Patrol troops located near the square – City square. Luciel then entered the building that had 3 floors in front of him.

Luciel then saw several officers chatting with one of the priests and the two looked confused. Luciel saw an army patrol coming out of a room.

“Ah Luciel, want to deliver the goods order?” ask a man Luciel knows.

“Ya Lando, is old man Angus in the warehouse?” reply Luciel.

“It just so happens that I also have a need with him, come with me,” Lando said

Lando is a Wachtmeister Adjutant and often interacts with Luciel when patrolmen order some specific items. Luciel has also occasionally helped patrol troops with – specific problems.

“Mr Lando, I saw a confused looking priest in front. Did something big happen?” ask Luciel.

“Yes. The pastor said there was an awkwardness where the data on orphanage children was not the same as the number of children in the orphanage he managed,” Lando replied.

“Then, what's the problem with that?” ask Luciel.

“He felt an awkwardness. If he did mistakenly enter a data, where maybe he let it go wrong during that time,” explained Lando “He concluded there is something behind all this,” he added.

The two of them then reached a large warehouse and saw an old man sitting wiping a sword.

“Hey Old Man Angus, Luciel sent you the order you requested. And I need some leather armor for an expedition to the Bolus River,” Lando said.

The old man looked towards them.

“You can pick it up in Wardrobe number 7,” said Angus. Lando then went inside.

“And you're Luciel, I'll check the order first.”

Luciel gave Angus a sack containing several swords.

“Hmm... Pretty good quality,” said Anggus while fingering – palpable one of his swords.

“Grandfather Angus, Do you know about information about Rare Metals Orichalcum or Adamantite?” ask Luciel

“For Orichalcum, I think in the dark auction place you can find it. But for Adamantite, I think only the Dwarves know the secret to making it,” Angus replied.

Dark auction is where the people – rich people get – items that are illegal, including slaves.

“Well... All the sword quality is very good, give this to the receptionist who is in the financial section,” said Angus while giving Luciel a piece of paper.

Luciel then went to the finance department and exchanged it for money. He got 3 Gulden for 10 trades he worked on for 3 weeks.

He then saw the pastor who was inside the Patrol Office was sitting in front of the Office door. Luciel approached her.

“Can I sit here Sir?” ask Luciel.

“Of course young boy,” replied the priest.

“Sorry Lord Pastor, you look confused. Did the Patrol Force not receive your report?” ask Luciel.

“Yes. I reported some irregularities that happened at my orphanage. However, the Patrol Forces cannot do what – is because the information from me is not clear,” he replied in frustration.

“What do you mean Sir?”

“I noticed that every month, I was always wrong to do in counting the number of children in the orphanage. In the last 6 months, I have always been wrong in calculating every monthly data collection,” replied the Pastor.

“How different is the inaccuracy of the calculation of the Lord?” ask Luciel.

“Antara 1-2 children every month I guess,” replied the Reverend.

“Did the year – previous year ever happen?” ask Luciel.

“I don't think so,” he replied ”Hahhh... I think I'd better report it to the Hunter Guild,”.

“I have to go first young man, happy to talk to you,” the priest smiled and left Luciel.

Luciel then saw the priest's back, which began to walk away from him.

Luciel then began to stand up and went to the place where his employees made the potion he sold.

Luciel then walked to the eastern city where his concoction was made, producing about 20 bottles of painkillers and 10 liters of Getran per day. Luciel supplied the herb to Herbalist – herbalist and to Frediburg Duchy military Barracks. From his business he can get a net profit of about 1 Gulden every time he makes a delivery. (If you forget, the Getran potion is the one made by Luciel in Arc 1 Chapter 14)

Luciel was in front of a warehouse and went inside. He saw 2 teenagers were boiling the raw ingredients of his potion.

“Hey Rono, Rana. How about the production, is there any obstacle?” ask Luciel

“Yes, I think we surplus 5 bottles of painkiller and 3 liters of Getran herb,” said the woman behind the man.

They were both twin brothers that Luciel had recruited to produce his business.

“Good then. You see I need Rono to keep my Equipment store for a few days,” said Luciel.

“Why?” ask them both.

“I think I will do a Hunter Quest for a few days and the order is not too crowded,” Luciel replied.

“Well... day has started in the afternoon, you can go home after tidying up the goods – the goods.”

“Good Boss,” answer them both.

Luciel then went out and headed to the Knight Academy to see the results of the selection that Liz followed.

The atmosphere in the city is very calm and peaceful. A stark contrast to what Luciel went through 3 years ago.

“I hope this peaceful life will continue,”.

Not long after, Luciel arrived before the gates of the Knight Academy. Luciel saw the large number of people within the Academy grounds. He went in and went to the park as promised. Shortly after, Luciel saw the figure of Liz sitting with a Man and Woman beside him. ‘Searching it with her red hair won't be hard’ thought.

Luciel does not approach Liz directly, but observes Liz's interactions with the men and women beside her.

“I instantly killed him using my technique hahaha,” Leon said telling Liz about his experience fighting monsters.

“Wahh.

“Ehehehe... I still have a lot to learn,” said Leon shy – shy in his praise.

“Hahhh... she was like that again,” Sara said.

‘From the beginning, he always wanted to make the woman he was interested in impressed with his action’ thought Sara.

“ATTENTION! FOR SELECTION RESULTS CAN BE SEEN ON THE BULLETIN BOARD!” Called one of the Instructors.

“Let's see the result Liz,” said Leon who stood up.

But seeing Liz who is still sitting makes him confused.

“What's Liz?” ask Leon.

“I'm waiting for someone,” replied Liz.

Hearing this, Leon became uncomfortable.

Luciel then approached Liz, Leon and Sara.

“Ah, Ciel. No really, the results have just been announced,” replied Liz.

But arrived – arrived Leon stood in front of Liz and looked at Luciel.

“Liz, they're your friends?” asked Luciel who saw Leon's strange gurgle.

Seeing this Sara spoke immediately.

“I'm Sara, and this guy is Leon. We just got to know each other,” he said.

“Ah, nice to meet you. My name is Luciel, a friend of Liz,” Luciel introduced himself.

The four of them then started walking into the bulletin announcement. Luciel then noticed Leon's gurgle who always tried to stop Luciel from walking side by side with both Liz and Sara.

Leon has the character of a male lion. Alpha Male, he can't tolerate the existence of other men around the woman he has.

Luciel then followed them walking behind the three of them. Leon is in the middle while Liz and Sara are by his side. Liz then looked at Luciel and showed an expression that was like saying ‘What's the matter?’. Seeing this Leon showed an uncomfortable expression. Luciel then shook his head – and smiled signaling nothing – what happened. Liz walked back and the awkward situation did not happen.

‘Listen Luciel, there are so many men who have special powers and destinies that easily attract women to their arms. They are like a main character in the story – stories that the world is like centered on him. If you meet such a man, it is better not to deal with him. Because destiny will always side with the person – the person.’ Luciel then saw the figure of Liz walking in front of him. Luciel then recalled the question he had given to his Sister.
