Arc 2 Chapter 8: The basement

[City of Freidburg, Year 735 Months 5 days to 17 ]

“Ya, yes. I've woken up Casper.”

The next day Luciel began to wake up as the sun began to rise. He then prepared a meat to feed Casper.

“Home has been a bit quiet since Liz left,” said Luciel who was seen trying to chat with Casper while feeding him.

“You also look like you're growing fast, huh.”

Casper already has the size of a human thigh. Luciel then saw a scribble that was in his hand. ‘ What is this streak? I don't remember getting it anywhere’ thought Luciel. He then started to prepare his shop while waiting for Rono to come. ‘ I think I'm going to the parlor again to further investigate the problem ’.

After Rono came, Luciel then went to Frohein orphanage. Upon Luciel's arrival there, he saw a girl his age who looked puzzled.

“Sorry Miss, why do you look confused like that?” ask Luciel.

“Ah, I don't know. I remember liking here every first Bell and third Bell. But, I don't know the reason I did that,” replied the girl.

“My name is Luciel. If you have any affairs in the orphanage maybe we can same – same discuss it with the priest of Bath,” Luciel proposed.

“Yes. You can call me Conis and it doesn't need to be so formal, we look the same age,” he said with a smile.

Luciel and Conis then enter the orphanage and meet the priest of Bath in his study.

“So that's? At home son Conis has – boys clothes but you do not remember having a family or people who live with you according to the size of the clothes there?” ask the priest of Bath.

“Yes. I have also asked some of my neighbors, but they say they do not remember at all if I have a family who lives with me,” replied Conis.

The priest of Bath stood up and took a book. He put it on the table and opened a courtyard for Luciel and Conis to see.

“Yesterday afternoon, I have recorded back – children who were in the orphanage. Before the third bell, usually aka tone absent to ensure the child – children have returned to the home,” explained Reverend Bath.

Luciel then read the page and saw an awkwardness.

Pastor Bath then turned the page and there are several names of – children orphanage but, there is some distance from the absent line of the name.

“As you can see, I think this empty place used to contain the name – the name of a lost child – and we forgot,”, Reverend Bath said in a moody tone.

After discussing for a while, Conis then decided to go to work and will come back again when the third bell later.

“What do you think of Luciel?” ask the Reverend Bath.

“Kurasa, when Conis came here confused with the time of one boy – missing boy was very close,” he replied.

“In your opinion, that unrecorded boy – is his family son Conis?”

“Yes. And this proves what abducts or eliminates the existence of the child – the child is around here where the child – children do activities,” explained Luciel.

“Cannot be forgiven! Why would anyone purposely target that innocent child –!” said Reverend Bath in a high tone. “Ah, forgive me for my tone,” he added.

“Alright Pastor Bath, I will go first because there are some affairs.”

[Knight Academy, Training Arena ]

“Listen, you new recruits from today will be called Cadet. That is the earliest level of a person to become a Knight,” he explained. “After entering the second semester, you will become a Novice and will become a Squire if you have mastered some of the basic techniques taught here,”.

“All that process will take 2 years. It shows, it's not easy to be a Knight. You will be trained physically as well as mentally and learn to understand the – code important code that a Knight must follow,” explained Rupert.

“For today, you will do a sparring and the instructor will determine your training partner according to your ability. For the best 20 recruits will take a special class that will be led by me. Any questions?”

The cadets then fell silent because the information described by Rupert was easily digested.

“If there is none, start looking for a partner and do a Sparring. For the best 20 cadets, come with me.”

20 Cadets then followed Rupert into a special hall in the building next to the Arena.

“You also look for sparring pairs each – each. The reason I separated you from the others is so that you can see your abilities in more detail.”

When Liz wanted to find a partner for sparring arrived – arrived she was approached by Leon.

After Luciel left the orphanage, he prepared his – fighting equipment. He has also brought a healing herb to keep watch – guard later. Whatever is behind the case of the disappearance of the – children of the orphanage, Luciel must have prepared if it was a monster or a Devil Cult. After she finished her preparations, Luciel left to return to the orphanage in the afternoon.

Luciel then deliberately walked around the area around the orphanage to look for clues more than this mystery. Shortly thereafter, Luciel was on a narrow descent down the street behind the parlour and found a door in a corner of the alley. He approached that door then Crackk!!! Luciel stepped on a red crayon. Luciel then saw the crayon fused in his shoes.

“This is...” Luciel's eyes opened wide when he saw the color of the crayon.

He looked at the door and rushed to contact Pastor Bath at the orphanage.

After hearing the explanation of Luciel the Reverend Bath then rushed to call the – sisters of the orphanage.

“One of you called the patrol team and asked for help to come here,” said the Bath pastor.

“Son Luciel, let's hurry. The sooner we get there, there is a possibility we can still save the child – that child.”

Luciel and the Reverend of Bath went to the location of the door. When they arrived, Luciel asked the Priest of Bath.

“I think the door is locked,” said Luciel.

“Retreat a little Nak Luciel,” Reverend Bath's orders.

Luciel then retreated and saw Reverend Bath preparing his horse –.

“Iron Boxing: Second shape, Shockblow!” THE BAMMM!!!

The door opened and revealed a staircase leading to the underground area.

“Does Nak Luciel have light magic?” ask the Reverend Bath.

“Yes, but my manaku will not be enough if wearing it for a long time. But I've prepared this.” Luciel then took out a round-shaped object.

“This is the Prototype Artifact I made. This artifact can emit light that is quite approximately 3 hours,” explained Luciel.

“What is this place actually Pastor Bath?” ask Luciel.

The expression on the face of the Reverend Bath changed, but Reverend Bath did not answer Luciel's question. Not long after, they saw a tree measuring 2 meters. On the trunk of the tree, 3 children were seen being wrapped around and his body looks dry.

The tree then attacked Luciel and the Priest of Bath with a tree trunk that looked like a tentacle.

“Nak Luciel, be careful – be careful. It's not an ordinary monster!” The Reverend Bath.

The tree's tentacles again attacked Luciel. He dodged the attack and shook his dagger and cut the tree's tentacle trunk. However, the tree tentacle trunk grew back and the body of the – children in his grasp became drier.

“Nak Luciel! Do not hurt the tree, he will only recover himself using the body of the child – boy!” the Reverend bath's.

“Then how do we beat it!” luciel exclaimed as he again dodged the attack of the tree monster.

Pastor Bath was a former Brawler when he was a Hunter 10 years ago. He later retired and became an Acolyte in the Temple of Goddess Juliana. After a few years, he graduated as a priest and was placed in charge of Frohein's orphanage.

“We first look for weaknesses and then attack using fatal attacks!” exclaims Pastor Bath.

Swosshh! Swosshh! The tree tentacles attacked Luciel faster. Luciel was able to avoid it however, there was a scratch wound on his hand.

‘How to defeat an enemy we cannot touch!’ as Luciel said in his heart.

Luciel then noticed the movement of the tree's tentacles and analyzed all the trees.

“Bughhh!” The tree tentacle attack hit the Priest of Bath which sent him thrown some distance away.

“Prime! You're okay – what!?” asked Luciel worriedly.

“Ughhhh, I'm too old for this – thing,” said Reverend Bath holding his stomach.

The tentacles of – tentacles were trying to attack Luciel again. A swoshh! A swoshh! Luciel can again dodge the attack – attack of that tree.

‘If it continues like this, we will run out of stamina and lose’ thought Luciel.

Luciel noticed again, the tree was seen guarding a certain area on a wall at the right back of the Tree.

“Prime Bath! I think I'm pointing out his weakness!” exclaim Luciel. A swoshh! A swoshh! The tentacles of – tentacles were attacking back Luciel.

“Aghhh!!”

Luciel again dodged the – attack but, one of the attacks hit his wrist.

Luciel then retreated to where the Reverend Bath was.

“That black wall, just behind the side of the tree,” Luciel pointed to the point he considered the weakness of the tree.

“Good. Luciel boy, can you give me 15 seconds. I will destroy it with my strongest attack,” said the priest of Bath.

“Good.”

Luciel then stored back his dagger and activated Accelerate on his leg. He then shot into the opposite direction from the weak spot he believed in.

Swosshhhh! Swosshh! Swosshh! Luciel then avoids the tentacles – tentacles that try to attack him. Luciel ran however, his foot was caught by a root that arrived – suddenly appeared underground.

“Sial!”

He was then lifted up and thrown firmly towards the wall. THE BAMMM!!

Seeing Luciel being thrown off, the Bath Priestess who had finished gathering mana hurriedly activated her technique. He then darted towards the wall beside the back of the tree quickly and uttered his technique.

“Iron box : Last movement, Death End!” BOMBBB!!!

The wall was smashed to – pieces and showed a small tree monster as big as a human head.

“Eikkkk!” scream the monster.

“Here you are apparently hiding a cunning monster! I destroyed you!” Reverend Bath then strangled the Monster and made the monster smashed to – pieces.

When his main body died, the 2-meter-tall large tree arrived – suddenly began to wither and released the three children from the grasp of his tentacles.
