The Gema Shahadah Aisyah

The Gema Shahadah Aisyah
Two People Who Fall in Love

The chanting of the holy verse of the Quran sounds melodious from the corner of the musholla. Although half sleepy but Umar still recited the Quran reciting eloquently as if his tongue had become accustomed. Umar's reading was listened to by Zayd who was sitting right in front of him.

Beyond the already dark sky, drizzling sounded increasingly swift accompanied the rumbling of lightning. The cottage began to be quiet because all the santri were resting but not with the two men in the corner of the musholla. Zaid was testing the memorization of the Qur'an Umar done since ba'da magrib. Umar had to recite 30 juz of the Qur'an non-stop and perhaps it should be finished tomorrow. Umar felt that Zaid was punishing him under the pretext of testing memorization. But for Umar this was a pleasant punishment even though he had to forget about the mattress and blanket tonight.

The last time Umar read 30 juz of the Qur'an non-stop when he was 12 years old, his passion for memorizing the Qur'an was still burning. But it turns out that maintaining rote is more difficult than when memorizing it.

Zaid closed his eyes but Umar knew he was not sleeping and was still listening to his reading. Umar wondered if after this Zaid would forgive him and give him permission to apply for Aisha. Although the application is also not necessarily accepted. But Umar still remembered Aisha's words this morning. The girl wants to marry Umar. Is Aisha joking? there was no sign of lies on his face.

Umar is determined to meet Aisyah again at the campus even though tomorrow he does not have a teaching schedule there. He also did not know if Aisyah would go to campus. But if God were to unite a pair of men, He would stir the hearts of both. Umar should not worry about such things because he had found Aisha in a third of the night.

The crowing chicken signifies the dawn is coming soon. The sound of the chicken seemed to encourage Umar and he could not give up. The rain had completely subsided after falling all night.

The first floor of the mosque was immediately filled with santri who wanted to perform tahajjud prayers. They were led by Khalid together.

Unknowingly many students watched Umar who was focused on chanting Al-Hadid's letter.

"You can also read Gus Umar." Khalid said to them.

Umar glanced at Khalid sharply, why should they follow his reading. Umar felt overwhelmed and became nervous. Understandably Umar rarely interacted with them when compared to Khalid. Umar had to be extra concentrated so that there was not a single wrong reading. Umar can be a bad example if there is a less precise reading.

The santri were amazed by Umar's beautiful reading even though they often heard it when Umar became a prayer priest. A voice that will make the princess amazed. It is no secret if the son of kyai let alone the unmarried become the idol of the princesses. Especially Umar who is said to be a figure difficult to reach among the santri.

Umar and Zaid paused for a moment into dawn. One of the santri echoed the adhan that was heard throughout the pesantren. No more students still struggling with blankets, they rushed to the bathroom and flocked to the mosque to fulfill the call of Allah.

Umar completed juz 30 quickly as he had to escort his ummi to the mosque for shajuh study.

"You want to straight out Ummi, don't go to sleep?" Khalid followed Umar out of the mosque.

"Yes Mas, if you sleep it will not wake up until dhuhur later." Umar had washed his face once more just now but he remained sleepy.

Maryam was already waiting in front of the house when Umar returned from the mosque.

"Say Ali wants to take Ummi." Maryam was confused to see Umar enter the house in a hurry and then returned with a motorbike key.

"Ummi, Ali doesn't have a SIM yet."

Maryam sat in the motorcycle seat of Umar, after turning on the engine, the motor moved out through the road that is not too wide among other residents. Umar was riding his bike at low speed, he had to be careful because of the slippery road used by rain last night.

"You punished Abah?"

"Ummi also felt it was punishment?" Umar was not wrong that Zaid was punishing him by keeping him awake all night. "But Ummi is good enough, Umar can test memorization."

"That's why you have to fight before you get what you want."

"Not to mention facing Papa and Mama Aisyah, they also do not necessarily want to marry Aisyah to Umar."

"But at least you've tried, whatever the result is, just leave it to God."

Umar stopped in the courtyard of the mosque which was already crowded by female worshippers. Maryam studies are always crowded by women who also come from other regions.

"This is Aisyah's car?" Umar muttered to himself that Aisyah's car was also parked in the courtyard of the mosque but he was not ready to meet the girl. Umar had planned to meet him at the college. Even so Umar still reflected in the rearview motorbike, from his face he did look very sleepy. Aisha would probably mock Umar like the laundry had not been ironed out again. Umar chuckled remembering Aisyah who was always straightforward.

"Accalamin Ummi!"

Umar stood stiffly in his place hearing Aisha's voice right behind him. He closed his eyes and held his breath hoping that Aisyah would not care about him this time. No, it could have been someone else who had a voice similar to Aisyah.

"Waalaikumussalam, Aisha."

Umar smiled bitterly, it turns out that his ears had recognized the voice of Aisyah.

"Ummi, I miss Ummi altogether."

Umar did not dare to turn his head, may Aisha and Maryam immediately enter the mosque.

"Finally you come to study Ummi, Masha Allah you are more beautiful."

Aisyah shook her head, "Ummi is prettier, I've seen for myself." His whisper.

Umar took a deep breath, he should not waste the opportunity that God had given him. Good intentions should not be delayed.

"Let's go in." Take Maryam.

"Let's Ummi." Aisyah stepped with Maryam towards the mosque.

"Dear of it!"

Aisyah's steps stopped turning to the source of the voice, "Mas Umar?" He did not know that there was Umar there. Aisha did not pay attention around.

"Meet him, there seems to be something important to talk to you about." Pinta Maryam's.

"Good Ummi." Aisha removed her arm from Maryam's arm and walked over to Umar.

Aisyah was suddenly nervous, what important thing Umar could talk to her about. They are not close friends even very rarely met even though they used to live in the same place.

Their distance was getting closer but Aisyah's steps slowed down, like there was a load on her legs that made it difficult to walk. Umar's face looks sad and tired even though the smile is carved beautifully there. Only Aisha dared to look at the face of the old Umar, at this time she was admiring the work of God before her.

Aisyah did not know the reason for her nervousness but now that her heart was racing, she held onto her chest as if afraid that her heart was jumping out even though it was impossible.

Umar tried to calm himself down, convincing himself once again that Aisha herself was willing to marry him. Don't tell me yesterday Aisyah was just joking. Such a thing should not be a joke.

"Revelation!" Umar exclaimed to see a motor running close enough beside Aisyah. Because of their distance, Umar could not protect Aisha with his body. Realize that the real world is not as beautiful as the movies.

"Sorry Mom, I didn't mean it." The motorbike driver immediately went down and apologized to Aisyah, he did not see any puddles there because the sky was still a bit dark.

"Shen jinng yes, this big puddle you don't see?"

"Yes I don't see, sorry again."

Aisyah snorted annoyedly, is it with apologies then all the problems can be solved. Now the robe is wet when he must immediately enter the mosque. He did not have time to go back home and change clothes because he could miss the material.

"It is Aisha." Umar approached Aisha to stop her, only she understood what Aisha had said just now. "It's not good to talk like that." He tried to advise Aisyah.

Aisyah bit her tongue to stop swearing, it was a habit that was hard to get rid of. Aisyah can stop eating non-halal foods because there are many types of good halal food. She can wear a hijab every time she goes out because it makes her comfortable. But swearing has become his best friend.

"Hold your anger, he didn't intentionally and apologized."

"Sorry, Mother." Said the woman who also wanted to attend the Maryam study.

"It's okay." Aisyah shook her hand so that the woman would leave immediately. Aisyah rubbed her robe that was wet and dirty. "You know this is the first time I've been to Ummi Maryam's study after I've been martyred?" Aisyah's reddened face held back anger.

"I don't know."

"So what are you talking about?" Aisyah switched the conversation, she did not forget that Umar called her just now. If Umar did not do that, Ayesha would now be in the mosque with other worshippers. Why did Aisha have to approach Umar, much less did she expect? Umar is married to Hilya. Aisha should have thrown away her hopes to Umar and let him go as Felix did to her.

"Hm?" Umar's eyebrows shot up, he almost forgot about it because he was too shocked to hear Aisha's curse for the umpteenth time.

"Ummi said there's something important you want to talk about." Aisyah looked at Umar seriously.

Umar had gathered up the courage to tell Aisha that he wanted to have a serious relationship with the girl, but all of that collapsed instantly as a result of the recent incident. Now Umar had to go to great lengths to collect it again.

"Aisha, you said you wanted to marry me."

"Oh that—" Aisyah lowered her head took out a few sheets of tissue in the bag and rubbed her wet robe even though it did not help at all. Aisyah said that all of a sudden yesterday and she did not want to talk about it anymore.

"I'll do it."

"What?" Aisyah glanced at Umar at a glance, she did not understand that sentence. Umar always spoke a word that made Aisha confused.

"Let's get married."

The tissue in Aisyah's hand fell down, she raised her face looking at Umar in disbelief. Aisyah did not understand why Umar asked her to marry when she wanted to marry Hilya.

"You crazy?"

Umar bengong saw Aisyah's reaction, why he was crazy. Umar imagined a smile would be etched on Aisyah's beautiful face after hearing her proposal even though the current moment was far from romantic. But Umar still did not want to see such a reaction. Whether Aisha did not know this was difficult for Umar to say such a thing.

"You want to be my second wife?"

Umar's forehead shriveled, why did Aisha think she would make him his second wife, was she already married? no. kan.

"I know you're handsome, pinter, sholeh and popular but that doesn't mean you can be my second wife!" Aisyah spoke out loudly, fortunately there was no one else there. Everyone has entered the mosque.

"Wait for Ayesha, what do you mean by second wife?"

"You want to marry Hilya, right, after that you want to marry me? no Mas, I'm in love with you but I can learn to forget these feelings."

Umar could not help but smile, so Aisyah also fell in love with him. Umar wanted to know since when Aisyah fell in love with him.

Aisyah did not understand why Umar was smiling but their current situation was not the right moment to make her smile.

"You may not have heard about this but I canceled my proposal to Hilya because of you, I want to marry you so answer me now."

A pair of Aisyah's eyes widened, her mouth slightly opened to her surprise. Aisyah held back her chest, what if her heart really jumped out, she had to pick it back up.

"Dad." Call Umar once again, Aisyah is really good at playing her part. "I can see the answer on your face."

"What do you see?" Tanya Aisyah stamped.

"You are willing to marry me."

"You're good at guessing." Aisyah immediately got into her car to hide herself. His feelings were mixed between joy, disbelief and shame. Aisyah often heard men expressing feelings for her but Umar was not like that, Umar invited her to marry. Aisyah wanted to scream so happy but she hurriedly closed her mouth. Aisyah's face that had been red with anger was now blushing red.

"Why didn't Ayana say that their proposal was off." Aisyah patted her hot cheeks. He was confused between holding his chest or his cheek.

Aisyah peeked out from the window whose glass was lowered slightly, Umar still stood there with his sweet smile. Especially when exposed to the sun that appears shy in the eastern horizon, Umar increasingly looks handsome.

"I'll meet your parents later with Abah and Ummi."

Aisyah only answered with a nod so as not to be too obvious that at this time she was very very happy. Aisyah's car spun around and out of the courtyard of the mosque.

Umar: Why is your face flushed Aisyah?

Ayesha: It is because of the heat of the sun

Umar: I know you're lying

Aisha: Pretend you don't know.
