Wizard and Deat Reaper: Hogwarts
Chapters 10

Dinner in the Great Hall was filled with whispers about Harry and Umbridge in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. How the news spread so quickly in a matter of hours is still a mystery to anyone, especially to both shinigami. But, considering that even in Seireitei gossip spreads as quickly as Yachiru Kusajishi who is stuffed with sweets and sweets, it should not be much different from the Magic World, considering they are much more 'living'.

"How could Dumbledore let this happen?" hermione was desperate. The Golden Trio decided to immediately leave the discomfort of the Great Hall after finishing their dinner. The Gryffindor recreation room was their choice, considering all the children were still in the Hall. Even Ichigo and Toushiro who disappeared earlier than the Hall were not there.

"Well, we've never had a really great Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, have we?" harry said grimly. "Hagrid's right, no one wants this job, considering it's used."

"Yes, but it employs people who even refuse to use magic to learn! What does it mean try?"

"And that's what Ichigo and Toushiro are doing." Harry growled. "What do they mean?'

"They're just trying to help you not get more angry at Umbridge, Harry," said Hermione tiredly.

"But they don't understand! They don't know that people should know!"

"Harry," said Hermione, throwing a hopeful look at Ron to support him, "they're here to look after you"

"I don't need to be looked after like a baby!"

"No, certainly not" said Hermione immediately. "They know what they're doing, what they want you to do. You need to be in control, Harry."

"Control yourself, with the old frog…"

"Whoa, calm down, buddy," said Ron anxiously. Other Gryffindor children began to fill the recreation room. It's not the right time and situation to be red-tempered, it seems. Not in front of her own dorm friends.

Self-control? I think it's easy…

The next morning, the atmosphere was still just as gloomy, with light rain opening up that morning. That day, they studied the Mantra, followed by the Transfiguration. The Spell Lessons were still lighter, as they were simply repeating back the Summoning Spell. However, the PR given is pretty good at making the head hot as well.

For the Transfiguration, well, it opens up very sweetly about the importance of OWL, making a flurry of uncomfortable feelings wriggle in the minds of the students. For two shinigami it's not really a problem. The trials of the witches had no effect on their lives. What Toushiro really needs is Rangiku Matsumoto who wants to sit in the office to work on paperwork and really help him, he said, all Ichigo needs is to stop Isshin's silliness and Kenpachi Zaraki's naughtiness from chasing him for a duel.

However, because it's a mission, of course they need to work hard - errat, learn - as if this is important.

At the Transfiguration, they learned the Withering Spell. And it goes without saying that very few are successful. Only Hermione succeeded in the fourth, and Toushiro succeeded in the second. Other children fail to eliminate their snails at the end of the lesson, leaving those who fail to have to practice the spell overnight in order to be tested again tomorrow afternoon.

If you want to say if there is another burden that must be borne today, it is another PR-PR burden. Professor Grubbly-Plank commissioned them to draw Bowtruckle for the Preservation of Magical Animals and another essay for Herbology commissioned by Professor Sprout. Really, why are teachers so happy to give PR ?

Closing the day, Harry must attend his detention with Umbridge.

Yang.

Are really.

Wickedest.

"I want you to write, I can't lie" Umbridge said gently, after giving her a black quill pen with an unusually pointed tip.

Writing the sentence was easy until Harry realized he was not writing on paper. Miraculously, the writing he had inscribed on the parchment was written on the back of his right hand.

His first day of detention ended at midnight. He languished considering he had to come again tomorrow to carve his own hand with the damn quill pen.

The next day, Harry skipped breakfast for them two dreams for his Premonition PR, and was astonished that Ron was accompanying him. Ichigo is also in the recreation, supervised by Toushiro, finishing his Bowtruckle drawing perfectly as the original. Harry looked at the work of the orange-hair, who was smug and proud that his image deserved to be in the gallery, and his grin vanished when he saw the image of Toushiro, which was just as good, with much neater writing.

"I don't understand how they've finished all their PR" said Ron enviously, looking at the two shinigami who were cleaning their bags and coming out through the painting hole. "I mean, they're new to the Wizarding World and all that sort of thing, but they understand it quickly!"

Ron asked that as they were going to the class of the Japanese Classical Defense Method that afternoon after lunch. Ichigo replied with a grin.

"What can I do, with Toushiro watching me? There's nothing else to do anyway, so I just do it, nothing to lose anyway. If it's Toushiro, no wonder. He is a diligent, smart, and rule-abiding child. Straight, really, anyway. Trade record is also good."

"What is he, the exemplary son of Shinou?" dean asked, grinning, while Toushiro frowned with his white eyebrows that were almost fused together.

"More than you can imagine" Ichigo said.

Their new classroom lesson turned out to be on the second floor of the right wing of the castle. To their surprise, they studied with their classmates from four dormitories. The classroom was also different from their usual classroom. There are no benches. The floor is also wood-coated, similar to the wooden wall, which is decorated with several calligraphy in complicated kanji letters. Koi fish pond paintings adorn the right side of the wall, while on the left hang classic paintings of the graceful Mount Fuji. Overall, the class is similar…

"Dojo?" chirps Ichigo.

"What?" ask Ron wonder. "Do-joh?"

"Dojo, it's usually a martial arts training ground like karate, kendo, or archery" Ichigo said. He observed the surroundings, while other children also began to enter the spacious room, astonished at the unusual interior and decorations.

"Welcome, welcome."

Kisuke Urahara emerged from behind the sliding door at the end of the class. His odd smile adorned his face which was overshadowed by the shadow of his wide hat. The black cat walked gracefully beside her, then jumped up and sat down on the round table on top of the class steps.

"I, Kisuke Urahara, as you know. You can call me Professor, but I'd rather be called sensei. That means you, Kurosaki-san~"

Ichigo threw a fierce look at their new teacher, leaving many children astonished.

"Just put your bags in there, and just take off your robes," Urahara said cheerfully as he pointed at the row of shelves without doors, like lockers that were near the door. "Oh, there's no need to remove the magic wand, for now."

The kids obey him. After putting down their bags and robes, the four fifth-level dorms gathered under the steps.

"Well, as you know, this is the first lesson in which you will learn other ways to defend yourself. The way that I think is different from the one you've known all along, with your magic self-defense using spells and magic wand." Even Urahara's tone was so relaxed, as if they were having afternoon tea instead of in class. "Shinou Academy teaches ways of self-defense based on practice."

In that case, this lesson is precisely the opposite of the 'new' Defense Against the Dark Arts'.

"Sensei," Hermione raised her hand. Urahara looked at the girl with a friendly smile.

"Yes?"

"What are the methods taught in Shinou?"

"Oh, of course you – you guys – all want to know," said Urahara cheerfully. He walked towards the blackboard, then tapped his magic wand there. Four white papers appeared there, each inscribed with rows of kanji. Urahara pointed one by one. "Zanjutsu. Kidou. Hakudas. Hoho. The four are the four basic abilities that students at Shinou will and must learn. Of course there are other lessons such as History, Astronomy, and others. But these four," Urahara waved his hand lazily towards the blackboard, "is the basis of self-defense for the young witches." Urahara smiled ignorantly.

"What exactly?"

"Ah, very curious, yes," said Urahara cheerfully, making Hermione blush. "It's okay. It'sit's okay. Well, these four techniques are basic, with different uses. First zanjutsu." Urahara pulled off the first sheet, showing the foreign kanji to the students, then, behind it. Pictures of various types of swords printed there. "Zanjutsu is a sword fighting technique, manifesting magic energy that is possessed into power, whether for attack or defense. Each of the witches has a unique ability in the use of zanjutsu. It takes years of practice to master it. Shinou students, usually only able to learn this with their own swords at level three, considering this is quite dangerous. Well, so, I can't teach you guys this. I don't want to risk someone accidentally cutting off a friend's arm, eh?"

Many children were disappointed, or looked disgusted and horrified. However, Harry saw relief on Hermione's face.

"But, I can teach you the basics," continued Urahara cheerfully. "No need to use a real sword. You will have experience how to use it. Finally, kido. Hm.." Urahara took out a second paper, looked at him for a moment. "No. You can't learn this."

"Why not?' asked Ernie Macmillan of Hufflepuff, astonished.

"Well, kido is a language meaning demon arts, but the translation is better magic without a wand. The art of fighting is complex and it needs good physical, mental, and spiritual balance to master it. The students in Shinou learned it from the very beginning they set foot in school. You guys who are already on the fifth level are going to have a hard time, and I don't have enough time, with any other techniques I need to teach."

The Golden Trio recalls how Ichigo practiced kido while at Grimmauld Place. The orange hair seemed quite difficult to master it. Explosions, smoke, and property damage were definitely not something that was easy to deal with, especially if the four dorms were practicing at the same time.

"Then" said Urahara, taking the last two papers after throwing a paper with the word kido on the table next to the black cat. He held out the first paper, "hakuda," then the second paper, "and hoho. Both are a type of defense where their use is in direct contact. In short hand-to-hand combat. Its users will utilize punches and kicks, a combination of physical reflexes and strength, speed and accuracy. In fact," Urahara raised his index finger; his smile was odd, "a single finger with great energy can be very fatal for your life."

"Why did we learn this?" malfoy's loud voice made all heads turn. His haughty tone was heard in every single word. He looked at Urahara and the two transfer students with contemptuous gazes. "That all sounds like Muggle self-defense! We're witches! Why bother learning how to fight blood-mud?"

Slytherin's children agreed. Harry and Ron exchanged a furious look. But both Urahara and Ichigo and Toushiro seem calm. Urahara lowered the tip of his hat and lowered his head, making his entire face covered in the shadow of his hat. And the next second, Urahara disappeared from where he stood.

"How," Urahara's calm voice made them all turn in shock. Uarahara was already behind Malfoy, his arms forming a lock on Slytherin's neck that was shocked beyond measure. "you can break away from this, Malfoy-san?"

Malfoy's eyes widened in panic. He tried to push both arms of Urahara, but in vain. He tried to step on Urahara's foot, but it was beyond his reach. Many children exchanged happy looks; Ichigo blatantly grinned.

Making a sound like a stifled laugh, Urahara released Malfoy. Before Malfoy turned around, their new teacher was already standing in front, on top of the steps again, his friendly smile seemed to grow wider.

"Why did you learn this, you can find the answer for yourself. But I'll tell you a few things. You young witches are taught how to defend yourself with your magic wand. Not only about self-defense, even home-based activities such as cooking, or simply harvesting apples are enough to swing a magic wand. All the practical uses of those spells keep you from training your physique. It's really unhealthy" Urahara added, clucking dissatisfied. "Reverse to the defense issue. Imagine if in the middle of a fight you lost your magic wand... fell into the hands of the opponent, broken, or even destroyed? What are you guys gonna do? Snuggling behind your mother? Or wail for the mercy of the enemy? Or just waiting for death to come? Well, if that's the case, your lives don't deserve to go on."

Silence followed Urahara's words. Their new teacher raised the edge of his hat to stare at the faces of his students. He grinned at the astonished expressions of all of them, except Ichigo who twirled his eyeballs and Toushro who looked bored.

"Or there are conditions in which you confront Muggles that could threaten your safety, while you are forbidden to use magic on them. Are you going to let yourself get beaten up? Well, it's really going to drop self-esteem, beaten Muggles in a Muggle fashion. It's not that I'm suggesting that you guys act destructively, anyway," Urahara added cheerfully. "Every force is used to defend itself and protect what needs to be protected, not to damage and destroy."

Inwardly, Harry took a good note of this. And, who knows, he can get a good technique to avoid Dudley's punches…

"I can teach you how to do it. But keep in mind that there is nothing instant to gain that ability. Time is the deciding factor, so is your will and effort. And from what I know, you're still very layman about this physical activity, so we'll start from the most basic. Hmm.." Urahara looked at Ichigo and Toushiro, "It looks like I'm a little lucky, level five there's Kurosaki-san and Hitsugaya-san, they can help me train all of you!"

"Can they?" malfoy asked dismissively. "They're new on the fifth floor, aren't they?"

"Ah, Malfoy-san, I seem to have forgotten to tell." Urahara looked at all his students with an odd grin. "The education period at Shinou Academy was six years," Many children were shocked to hear. " Some can instead complete in less time than that, as they are endowed with talent and genius brains. So I'm sure they're very well trained. And they'll be happy to help."

"But they are the same as us!" pansy protest.

"Is it really the same?" urahara asked in a low voice, sending an uncomfortable odd wave throughout the room. The Golden Trio exchanged a restless look. However, Urahara clapped his hands in a cheerful style. "Let's find out, then! Kurosaki-san, go!"

Ichigo advanced with both hands in his pants pocket. He looked calm, standing three meters in front of Urahara.

"Is it really okay?" neville asked anxiously at Toushiro, who crossed his arms in front of his chest in a watchful manner.

"No problem" said Toushiro kalem. "Urahara-sensei is Kurosaki's personal mentor." Those who heard this fact were stunned. "They know each other's fighting styles. When viewed from the conditions, they'll just warm up."
