The next day, both Toushiro and Ichigo realize that there is tension between Harry and Gryffindor's son and their classmate Seamus Finnigan. According to Ron, it happened because Seamus became the 'victim' of the Ministry of Magic's provocation, about Voldemort being a fake and Harry and Dumbledore being liars. Ichigo and Toushiro had little to say about this. Besides, Harry had a sewot attack that did not bother the two shinigami hit the sap.
The two then descended to the Great Hall, following the Golden Trio who were arguing for some reason, for breakfast. During the journey many children still looked at Ichigo and Toushiro, still unfamiliar with their presence.
"It's quite disturbing" Ichigo said softly, as a small group of third-grade Hufflepuff girls passed by them whispering exclaimingly and stealing glances at them with blushing cheeks.
"Know what you mean," muttered Toushiro. "And this robe bothered him as much as they did."
Ichigo smiled slightly. "It's getting hot, Toushiro?"
Deathglare Toushiro was preferred not to be seen by Ichigo, who suddenly thought that the purple-eyed cat playing wool balls in the painting was much more interesting. "His cloak also interfered with my movements," said Toushiro sharply.
The Great Hall is already filled with almost all the inhabitants of the school. The chatter of clanking forks, knives, and spoons filled the somber September morning air. They took a seat not far from the Golden Trio, bounded by the Weasley twins.. The two enjoyed breakfast while listening to the conversation around them, ignoring some of the whispers aimed at them.
"After all, anyway" said George in a complacent tone. The Golden Trio and the twins were talking about the test as it turned out. "fifth year is a terrible year, it's if you care about your exam results. Fred and I managed to stay strong."
"Yeah, with only three OWL each," Ron said.
"Yep. After all we feel that our future is beyond academic achievement" Fred said.
Hermione nodded in disagreement. But instead of debating the twins, he looked at Ichigo and Toushiro full of curiosity. "I've never asked you guys about Shinou before. What's it like there?"
Toushiro raised his face, then swept a quick glance, making sure there were no unwanted people within listening distance.
"I never set foot into Shinou, actually," Ichigo said quietly, so that only the five young witches heard. "But Toushiro can explain."
"I don't know much about Hogwarts, but obviously there are some differences," Toushiro said, sipping his tea calmly. "We studied for six years. It can be less than that if you have enough ability."
"They really teach you how to fight with a sword?" ron asked enthusiastically, ignoring Hermione's disapproving gaze.
"Yes, in addition to learning kidou spells, controlling reiatsu, martial – hands – empty ..But only can get your own sword during the third year. After that he had to practice controlling his own zanpakutou." Toushiro paused for a moment. "Urahara will probably explain it during his lesson."
"the test?" ask Hermione.
"Ninety percent is practice" said Toushiro; her shoulders were lethargic. Toushiro stared at the girl at a glance, before stirring her tea. "What do you expect, we're prepared to be fighters."
Silent for a moment, while Ron chose to observe his lesson schedule.
"We just got Urahara on Wednesday!"
"A little patience won't kill you, Weasley," said Toushiro, finishing the rest of his tea
The first day of the fifth grade begins with an extraordinarily boring History of Magic. The ghost teacher, Professor Binns lectured monotonously about the bloody giant war, making the drowsiness attack hit all over hard. Harry and Ron chose to play hangman throughout the lesson, while Ichigo was sleepy while mating his quill pen, engrossed in sketching a picture of his twin sister. Only Toushiro and Hermione are endowed with the special ability to absorb lessons, somehow the teacher teaches them, life or death.
Afterwards, they descended into the basement for Potion lessons. The cold class and intimidating attitude of Severus Snape was enough to make the whole class silent and gripped. The two shinigami who have known Byakuya Kuchiki and Kenpachi Zaraki are certainly not affected by the dissatisfaction of the Head of Slytherin Dormitory. And that day, they learned to make the complicated Peace Potion. Many children find it difficult to make the potion perfectly. Neville Longbottom who was at the table with Ichigo and Toushiro pale was so nervous and anxious.
"No, Neville," Ichigo said, as Neville would insert pieces of hydrangea petals instead of moon rock powder. "You're gonna ruin the potion!"
"Sorry," Neville murmured frantically. "I'm. I've never been good at potions."
"Calm down a bit" Toushiro said in a calm voice.
"I-I can't" Neville said. His round face grazed towards Snape restlessly; fear was clearly mapped on his face. It was obvious what made Neville so scared. Snape wanted perfection, rejected failure, but demanded with a cold and threatening attitude, something Neville could not do.
Ichigo and Toushiro exchanged looks. Sighing, Toushiro raised his quality and moved beside Neville, who was astonished.
"First, take a breath and calm yourself down," said Toushiro flatly.
"Ap-?"
"Just do it!" hiss Toushiro sharp. Neville swallowed. Snape's cold class was badly outclassed by the new boy's attitude beside Neville. Neville took a deep breath, trying to ignore the strange smells of his cauldron of classmates and remove the anxiety from his head. "so." Toushiro's flat voice strangely calmed Neville down. "Now concentrate on your potion, ignore Snape if it bothers you so much."
"But-?"
"Don't lower yourself if you can actually do more than you can now, Longbottom," said Toushiro flatly. He went back to his potion. "Just do. I'll keep an eye on you."
So, trying hard to focus on making his potion better, Neville desperately ignored Snape's unfriendly gaze as well as belittling him every time he passed by. Toushiro, along with Hermione and Ichigo managed to bring up silvery steam on top of their cauldron, occasionally reminding Neville as he was about to put in the wrong ingredients. Finally, five minutes before the lesson ended, although the potion was not perfect, Neville managed to reach a stage where a young gray vapor appeared above his quality. If not for the time that was up, he might have been able to obtain the perfect result.
They split up in the next lesson. Ichigo, Toushiro, and Hermione go to Arithmancy's class, much to Ron's astonishment.
"I don't believe in Divination" Toushiro said as Ron asked the reason for choosing the lesson. Ichigo, instead, gave a more surprising answer.
"I like math."
Ron was shocked to hear that.
Forsake heaven! Is there anyone in their right mind who likes Arithmancy? Or is that what sane people do?
They met again in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Professor Umbridge was already sitting behind the teacher's desk, wearing a bright pink velvet cardigan and a black ribbon at the top of his head. The unpleasant smile of the frog greeted them, along with a childish sweet voice that was completely beyond the taste of anyone who heard it.
The lesson that time, was completely unexpected. First, they received the instructions 'get rid of the magic wand and remove the quill pen.' All the children clearly thought that Defense Against the Dark Arts meant knowing the defensive spells and praising them. However, what Umbridge did was to 'go back to the basic principles' and get them to read the drab chapter of 'Basics for Beginners' in Chapter 1 of the Magical Defense Theory, Wilbert Slinkhart.
A reading activity that matched his boss listened to Professor Binns piqued as Hermione raised her hand up, and her book The Theory of Magic Defense was not hard to read.
"Do you want to ask me something about that chapter, son?"
"It's not about that chapter, is it," said Hermione
"We're reading now" Umbridge said with a frog smile. "If you have any other questions, we'll discuss them at the end of the lesson."
"I have a question about the purpose of your lesson. There is no mention of using defense spells."
"Using a defensive spell?" repeated Umbridge with a voice full of laughter, making Toushiro's twitch deepened. "Well, I can't imagine what situation came up in my class that forced you to use a defensive spell, Miss Granger. Surely you didn't expect to be attacked while taking lessons?"
"We're not going to use magic?" chirps Ron hard.
"Murids have to raise their hands if they want to talk in my class, Mr…?"
"Weasley," said Ron, raising his hand upwards. At the same time, Harry and Hermione also raised their hands. But then, Umbridge turned her frog head to Hermione.
"Yes, Miss Granger? You want to ask me something else?"
"Yes. Surely the goal of Defense Against the Dark Arts is to practice magic spells?"
"Are you the education expert of the Ministry, Miss Granger?"
"No, but…"
"Then you are not qualified to determine the 'goal' of any lesson. Witches who are older and smarter than you (Ichigo and Toushiro exchanged looks, thinking the same. Obviously 'education experts from the Ministry's education are inexperienced) have compiled our new learning program. You'll learn defense spells in a safe, risk-free way…"
"What's the point of that?" harry said loudly. "If we're going to be attacked, it's not…"
"Hand, Mr. Potter!"
Harry raised his fist, but Umbridge turned away from him. Several children have raised their hands, including Ichigo.
"And your name is?" Umbridge asked Dean.
"Dean Thomas."
"Well, Mr Thomas?"
"As Harry said, right? If we're going to be attacked, it's not risk-free!"
"I repeat, do you expect to be attacked while following my lessons?"
"No, but…"
"I don't want to criticize the way this school is run (again, the two shinigami's mindsets are the same; you've criticized it). You have been confronted with some irresponsible witches in this lesson. Very irresponsible, in fact." An infuriating smile fell on his face. "not to mention the extraordinarily horrible and dangerous derivatives of the mixture."
Ichigo gritted his teeth furiously. How dare she talk about Lupin like that!
"If you're referring to Professor Lupin," said Dean angrily, "he's the best Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher ever…"
"Hand, Mr Thomas! As I said earlier, you have been taught about spells you do not deserve to master, and you are frightened by the belief that you will be attacked at any time…"
"You know what I think?" ichigo muttered to Toushiro who crossed his arms in front of his chest with an expressionless face, while the other children began to ask questions, some who immediately asked would receive 'hands, Mr...' or 'your hands are not raised, Miss.' "This is ridiculous. Could be worse no, yeah."
"Who do you imagine wants to attack children like you?" umbridge asked in a voice as sweet as honey, dangerous.
"Hmmm, try I think," said Harry pretending to think; toushiro raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps... Lord Voldemort?"
Ron held his breath; lavender let out a slow scream; neville slumped from his stool. But a satisfied expression was imprinted on the frog's face.
"Cut ten figures from Gryffondor, Mr. Potter."
"It's going to get worse" Ichigo muttered, so quietly that only Toushiro heard it in the classroom which was silent all of a sudden. Well, it's getting worse. Harry maintains his argument that Lord Voldemort has returned, leading to his arrest. Harry was unmoved in place, his eyes lit up in ruffles, and the two shinigami could see sadness, disappointment, and anger gathering there.
"Harry, no!" Hermione whispered cautiously, tugging at her hand. But Harry shook his hand.
"So, do you think Cedric Diggory died of his own accord?"
Toushiro and Ichigo stood up abruptly, making Hermione gasp in shock. The two moved to Harry's right and left, trembling with anger.
"That's enough, Potter," Toushiro said in an emotionless voice. He looked at the cold-looking Umbridge.
"Yeah, enough of all this silliness," Ichigo grumbled.
"Someone dies and you say this is ridiculous?" snapped Harry with a trembling voice.
"Say enough!" toushiro said in a high tone.
"You don't understand! You don't know anything!"
But Toushiro looked at Umbridge, not Harry whose face was flushed red, ignoring the other's astonished gaze. "You better find out why this lesson is called Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor."
"May I remind you once more of whether any of you…"
"… education experts from the Ministry of Magic?" toushiro flat said. Actually I am a fighter who was educated by the Spirit Community, Toushiro said in his heart. "No need, Professor, my memory is still good. And not to compare with Shinou, I hope Hogwarts can teach me how to defend myself from the Dark Arts."
"I hope you're aware of Mr…?"
"Hitsugaya's. Toushiro Hitsugaya."
There was a cold tone when the white hair mentioned his name. Harry had the impression that Toushiro was angry, although his face was still expressionless, his turquoise eyes were quite clear about his emotions. Coupled with Ichigo frowning seriously.
"Well, Mr. Hitsugaya, I remind you're at Hogwarts. Not your Shinou."
"What I hope doesn't make me regret being here." Toushiro moved back to his seat. Ichigo also moved back to his seat after giving a friendly pat to Harry's shoulder.
