Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Naeva sat on the edge of her bed with an agitated look. His mind was still filled with questions about Abellard's changing attitude. The whole dinner last night the man didn't greet her at all. Just staring with a sharp look.

Has Abellard's memory returned? And now that man hates him?

Unknowingly, her glove-covered fingers touched the diamond brooch on the back of her glove.

"Eh?" his sigh with a frowning forehead, just realized there was a beautiful object attached to his glove.

Earl Alfred put it up. The British man said Naeva's beauty was too innocent without any jewelry.

"Don't say you don't like jewelry, I won't believe it. Because what I know, all women are very fond of shiny objects," said the man.

Naeva did not really intend to respond to every chatter of the Prince of England, his heart was still troubled because the sharp gaze of Abellard did not move at all from him.

"I don't like jewelry. I'm just not used to wearing it."

"Unaccustomed? Why?"

Naeva sighed as she glanced at Abellard. He felt depressed, until his sweat appeared on his forehead.

"Because I've never attended a banquet like this."

Earl Alfred let out a sigh of amazement, his look seemingly implying great curiosity towards the girl beside him.

Slowly the man removed the diamond brooch that was attached to the chest of his tuxedo. Then he took Naeva's hand.

"Pardon Mlle Gaulle" he whispered politely.

Naeva was shocked to find her hand held gently by Alfred. But there was no way he could pull his hand back and put the man to shame.

Alfred put the beautiful brooch in his glove.

"Wear it on your dress. There's no way I'm putting it like the other woman who put it on the chest, is there? Unless you allow it, "the god with a big smile.

Naeva pulled her hand and lowered her head with reddened cheeks.

"Ah, you're such a shy girl. I love to see your blushing cheeks" teased the man again.

Naeva felt careless, this man was indeed polite, friendly and attentive. But her attitude of trying to get along in such a quick way made Naeva uncomfortable. Moreover, Abellard's eyes seemed to be skinning him now. Perhaps Abellard was sneering at her who was too approachable to foreign men.

Naeva walked back and forth in her room. The dinner was completed three hours ago.

At 9 o'clock, all guests have left the castle. But until the hour hand shows the number 12 Naeva has not been able to fall asleep, has not even replaced her evening dress with a nightgown.

FLECKISH

The door of his room suddenly seemed like someone was trying to open from the outside. But Naeva had locked it.

Who came in the middle of the night like this? There's no way Marc.

Marc won't open the door without knocking.

Could Mary?

Naeva's feet stepped to the door.

"Who?" ask the girl.

"I." Abellard's heavy voice rang out behind it.

Naeva's heart stopped beating. The man who had filled his mind suddenly came.

Maybe Abellard really did remember everything. Whatever happens, it will reveal all the pending explanations. About her real self is the gambling bet Abellard won and about her intent to create a false identity for the man.

With a shaking hand, the girl pulled the key lever, and opened it.

Abellard stood before him with a face without a smile like that. But his eyes were no longer staring.

"No, not yet" said Naeva.

"Why?" Abellard watched Naeva for a moment, "you haven't even changed clothes."

"I ... will replace it now," Naeva swallowed her saliva with great difficulty, "Abellard, actually I ...."

"You don't have to explain. I understand all women love jewelry and sweet seduction as Alfred said. I want to give you this." Abellard handed him a medium-sized box in her hand.

Naeva stared at the box with a frown.

"This is my jewelry. You can return the brooch to her. I don't want you to wear jewelry from other men" Abellard said with eyes implying jealousy. His voice sounded cold and full of emphasis.

"Abellard, I ...." Naeva felt her voice clenched in her throat. He really didn't expect Abellard to say that. It turned out that this man actually judged himself a cheap woman!

"Take it, you can wear it as much as you want," Abellard again thrust the jewelry box in front of Naeva, "and give the brooch to me, let me give it back!" abellard's voice grew sharp. And his words cut Naeva's heart.

Naeva's plan to explain his father's gambling betting was scrapped. He really can't say anything anymore. Her chest feels tight.

Seeing that Naeva had not taken his gift, Abellard grabbed the girl's arm and placed the jewelry box on her hand. Then open the brooch from the next Naeva glove again and replace it with a ring with a pendant of daisies.

Then he turned and left Naeva, who was still in the doorway.

Naeva stared at Abellard's wide back with sore eyes. But he could not even open his eyes, because his heart felt more pain.

With trembling hands, the girl closed the door again. His feet could no longer stand. His knees seemed to lose energy. He leaned against the door, until his body then sagged to the floor.

His heart really hurt. She was poor and never wore jewelry. But surely Abellard accused him of being tempted by these precious things.

Naeva's hand gripped tightly the box in her hand. His chest was too tight, until his cries broke unbearably.

Open the jewelry box slowly. A small, high-priced box that had managed to injure his heart. Naeva really did not expect, Abellard considered herself as low as that.

***

Tomorrow.

Naeva sat hugging her knees on her bed. He refused to go out and meet Abellard.

Marc is not outside either. This morning the man came to tell me that he was invited by the workers at the castle to take care of something.

Naeva suddenly felt lonely and isolated. Until then he heard a noise in front of the door of his room, Dan ....

Chequek!

The door to his room was opened from the outside. Even this time the person who opened it was so impatient that it banged and pushed forcefully.

Naeva. Why are the people in this castle lazy to knock?

The girl got out of her bed and came to the door. As soon as he opened, a woman barged in until she nudged his shoulder.

"Aww!!" Naeva flinched and reflexively shouted.

But as if not hearing it, the woman who broke through it even checked around the room with her big eyes.

"Why is it so bad to give my room to someone else?!" fold both hands in front of the chest.

Then he turned to face Naeva.

"Now you have to pack your things and get out of here!" resounding.

His nose was slightly round, while his thin lips seemed to be curving downwards showing an angry look. But what attracted attention was a tompel the size of a thumb on his left cheek.

Pork!

The sound of falling objects was heard from behind Naeva. The girl immediately turned around, and saw another woman fall down with a large suitcase.

Naeva reflexively approached and helped her stand up. But as soon as the woman raised her face, Naeva suddenly jumped in shock.
