Bettor Mr. Nobles

Bettor Mr. Nobles
Chapter 50

At the dinner table, the Comte de Marseille family had sat down with their oversized guests. This included the Doctor of the Countess and Lady Angelia.

That night was the most successful businessman in Marseille. His efforts were even more advanced and popular than the Comtte family's. This middle-aged businessman was being targeted by the Countess to be a business partner of his family.

From the direction of the hall, Naeva de Gaulle came with Lord Alfred.

Naeva wears her mother's best dress. A yellow dress with white lace on her collar and waist. The girl tried to calm down. But no matter how hard he tried, the uncomfortable feeling still made him have to hold his breath. A sumptuous dinner in such a grand place did not match his soul.

Meanwhile, Lord Alfred walked over with a satisfied look. Moreover, he saw Count Abellard staring at them with a wrathful look. Alfred really felt a landslide win.

"Thank God, the guests are not too crowded" muttered Naeva.

Lord Alfred looked over. "You don't like a lot of people? Well, if I'd rather have many guests, unfortunately today they are receiving a special guest" Alfred said in a soft voice. But then his eyes accidentally saw the necklace that Naeva was wearing. The necklace was just an ordinary piece of rope with an orange pearl stone pendant.

"On your neck is ... what?"

"Kalung," answered Naeva as it is.

Alfred snorted cynically. "Yes, I also know that thing you're wearing as a necklace. But it's very unsightly. You better take it off, before we get to the table" he whispered in a commanding tone.

Naeva immediately stopped her steps and pulled her hand back from Lord Alfred's arm. "If my appearance makes you ashamed, please go yourself, I can go back," the girl asserted.

Lord Alfred is in a mess. He shouldn't have spoken at will before actually getting Naeva. "I don't mean that. Don't be angry, we can't be separated like this in front of other people."

Naeva looked towards Abellard. The man was also looking at her. His dark blue eyes looked cold. The girl took a deep breath, she had to meet Abellard and teach the man a lesson for hurting her heart last night.

"Alright, but you have to apologize" Naeva said firmly. From now on, he won't let anyone demean him.

Lord Alfred looked unhappy at Naeva's arrogance, never had a girl dared to order him to apologize like this. But he had no choice, just one step away from getting this girl.

"All right, I'm sorry. Come on, we gotta get in now." Lord Alfred stretched his arm back to Naeva.

The girl greeted him stiffly.

"Lord Alfred, please join. You're late once tonight," welcome Mme Aamber. But his hospitality was immediately lost when he saw Naeva.

"Thank you, Ma'am. I have to wait for my lover to dress up first" replied Lord Alfred as he glanced at Abellard.

And the man immediately cheered inwardly upon seeing the surprised expression of the Count.

Naeva was surprised, as was Mme Aamber and Lady Angelia.

But as yet Naeva denied it, Mme Aamber has switched the conversation. The Countess was well aware that Lord Alfred's expression would provoke a commotion. While he was very afraid of it happening in front of his target businessman.

"Alright, please enjoy the meal," he said. Quickly talk to the businessman. "Monsieur Simon, I hear you like Coq Au Vin?" (the male in the wine) asked Mme Aamber attentively.

"Yes, I really like this food," replied the middle-aged man who had a long sideburn in front of his ears.

"Thank God, I've asked the waiter to make it special for you." Mme Aamber smiled warmly with an attitude that looked extremely adoring to the man.

Naeva who had been sitting next to Alfred could immediately guess that the man was the special guest tonight.

Naeva eats food on her plate without being able to enjoy it. How not? The gaze of Abellard who was sitting opposite him, so rained on him. Naeva suspects the man is now judging himself a petty woman again, for accompanying Lord Alfred to dinner.

Naeva glanced a little. And Abellard's face did look as she thought, cold and angry.

Oh well ... Naeva really can't stand it now. Does that guy think he's the only one hurt?

Naeva raised her face, challenging Abellard with a look no less sharp. He's really angry. His hand holding the fork was raised, and ....

Brak!

He threw the fork over the plate.

Prangs!

The plate broke.

Naeva was shocked, not expecting the results of her actions to be so severe. Though he only wanted to stab him to the table, but it turned out to be the wrong target.

"Naeva!" abellard shouted as he got up and ran over.

Naeva was nervous. It's totally beyond belief. He got up and apologized to everyone at the table.

"I'm sorry I was accidentally" he said, bowing several times.

The doctor who had been sitting next to Abellard also woke up and approached.

"Is Mlle Gaulle hurt?" ask the man for attention.

"It doesn't seem like it" Abellard replied in relief. "Doctor, may I request your seat for Mlle Gaulle?"

"of course. I just offered it too."

"Thank you, Doctor ...." Abellard immediately drew Naeva's hand and circled the long table. Not once did he stop his steps even though he felt Naeva's hand trying to let go of his grip.

Alfred could only look at them with an annoyed heart. It happened so fast that he could not prevent Abellard from taking Naeva.

Naeva could only resignedly sit next to the man who had hurt her heart. Who wanted to be angry with her.

No one asked what had happened, as all the guests only saw when the plate had broken and Naeva who was holding the fork with a shocked face. They think the ceramic plate broke itself because it was hit by hot food.

"Why did you hurt yourself?" Abellard protested in a whispering voice.

"You hurt me more!" ketus Naeva in a soft voice.

Abellard did not know what to answer, so she just fell silent and relented. He could feel the sound of Naeva.

Abellard's silence made Naeva dissatisfied. He wanted Abellard to answer in order to bring out all the uneg-uneg that had enslaved in his heart.

"Why silence?! Don't you feel like you've hurt me?"

Abellard took her breath. Naeva's angry face implied a huge disappointment. Makes Abellard feel a deep sense of guilt squeezing her chest.

Oh my God, why are things so cruel to her and Naeva? He was sure Naeva never wanted to ensnare him. But Naeva's lies make her feel played with. He's angry! So continue to look for faults Naeva as an excuse to spill her anger.

Meanwhile, Monsieur Simon's eye turns out to be attracted to Naeva. The middle-aged man continued to stare at him until he put back the spoon and stopped enjoying the food that was still in his plate.

"Mlle Gaulle? That's your nickname, M'mselle?" monsieur Simon asked suddenly. It seemed like he could no longer hold back the interest in his heart.

Naeva raised her face and turned to look at the man with a sidecar sitting near Mme Aamber.

"I?" ask the girl confused.

"Yes, you."

"I-iya, my name is Naeva de Gaulle" he replied. Hearts fretting. What if the influential man was angry because he was disturbed by the incident earlier?

Monsieur Simon's eyes stared at him. Making Naeva wrong and increasingly wary.

While Abellard was starting to be unhappy at the gaze of the middle-aged man who became his mother's special guest

"That's ... a very rare precious stone" said Monsieur Simon as he stared at Naeva's necklace.

Naeva immediately touched the necklace around her neck.

"This .. my father's gift."

"Oh, your father must be a man who loves the riches of nature very much" praised Monsieur Simon. "I am also a lover of rare precious stones. I forgot the name of the stone. "

Naeva immediately stared interested in the middle-aged businessman. It's like finding someone who has the same hobby. "This rock is called Melo-melo, Monsieur" answered Naeva.

"Melo-melo .." sighed Monsieur Simon with a thoughtful look. "Yes! I remember now, it was indeed a very rare stone," exclaimed the man with excited sparkling eyes.

"Melos? That's a very strange name, as weird as it is," said Lady Angelia cynically.

Naeva immediately turned her head and looked at the Lady sharply. Hatred filled his heart, for now he knew that Lady Angelia was the one who had poisoned his food.

"Melo-melo comes from the name of a snail that produced this pearl. Melo melo is a very large sea snail, native to Southeast Asia. When something gets stuck inside the shell of Melo, it takes out a layer of calcite and aragonite on top, which looks very different from the nacre found in more common pearls. Until many years it can form this pearl," explained Naeva while continuing to look at Lady Angelia no less cynical.

"Gee!" monsieur Simon exclaimed as he rose from his chair and clapped in amazement. "You're so amazing, M'mselle. Still young, but your knowledge is great!" praise Monsieur Simon.

Naeva bowed her body slightly to the man, "You're too complimentary, Monsieur. I only inherited my father's talent in knowing the riches of nature."

"But your knowledge of nature is amazing, M'mselle!" This time the doctor who praised, chimed in the praise of Monsieur Simon with the same admiration.

Naeva bowed back awkwardly. His heart was not comfortable being praised in such a way, let alone the gazes of the other guests now centered on him.

In her seat, Lady Angelia could only throw away face with a cobbled heart.
