DUA

And as Lana had expected, the job of cleaning the house and yard, was exhausting.

But Lana was quite relieved, because almost the entire interior of the house, was neatly arranged. He has also done a little repair on the pipes and lights so that he can sleep in the room later tonight.

Although it looks unconvincing to live in, but actually the house is still in pretty decent condition. The need for electricity and water will not be a problem for Lana.

After a long life of her own, Lana has little skill to fix home installations. It may not be as neat as the experts, but he still managed to function the entire installation of the house well.

And for Lana it's enough, because most importantly, she doesn't want to call anyone here, even if it's just a plumber.

The work that remains for today is, cleaning the yard.

And in reality, Lana was terrible at this.

He never again lived in a house that had a courtyard for nearly ten years. His experience of gardening was minimal.

Seen from the results of his work, the ranks of grass in the yard is far from neat. He may have cut most of the grass that exists, but the height of the grass that is now irregular even makes the view of the yard more terrible.

Lana was already trying her hardest, using the simple equipment she found in the warehouse. But the result, in no way reflects his efforts.

But Lana refused to give up, she still wanted to try and crouch back down, trying to cut the tall grass near the terrace.

Lana devotes all her attention to the work, so as not to hear, when some twigs behind her, are broken by the stampede.

"AAAGHHHH!!!"

Lana screamed loudly with all her might, as a small touch perched on her shoulder. Instantly he pointed the machete in his hand back, turning around.

Life full of the spirits of the dead, making Lana easily surprised.

"Wow.... Relaxed. I'm not a bad guy"

Lana immediately felt stupid when she realized that the one who patted her shoulder was a human, after all the creatures she feared would not be injured even if she swung the machete a thousand times.

"I'm sorry" Lana lowered the machete immediately while bowing her head apologizing.

"It's okay, I must have surprised you. Your screams are so loud"

Lana smiled awkwardly as she watched the man standing in front of her better.

His age ranged from forty to fifty years. The body is a little patchy with brown hair, judging by the clothes he wears that denim and shirt, Lana concluded he was a resident from around his house.

"Erich... What's wrong? I heard a scream" a panicked exclaiming sound flowed from behind a tree on the edge of the courtyard.

And before long accompanied by the rustling sound of leaves, came the long-haired woman who looked at the two of them anxiously.

The woman had a very firm face, with a high nose. Reminds Lana of a fierce schoolteacher.

"That's okay, don't worry. I was making our new neighbor surprised, so he shouted" The man called Erich raised his hand to calm the woman.

As the woman smiled in relief, gone was Lana's shadow about the fierce teacher, that face instantly turned warm.

"Oh. You must have scared her because of that big body of yours" The woman walked over to Lana with a wry smile.

Erich is seen not accepting the accusations of the big body, but he swallowed his rebuttal, because the woman began to introduce herself to Lana.

"Include me, she's Erich Yoder, and I'm Joan Yoder. Our house is right next to this garden" Joan said, pointing at the irregular mini forest next to Lana's house.

The land does not include the land Lana bought. The money can only buy the environment around the house. The land still belongs to the grandson of Aubrey and Barnabas.

Lana nodded in understanding then welcomed Joan and Erich's friendly hand.

"I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself yet, Solana Fayra" said Lana softly.

This is a lie, of course, he never wanted to introduce himself to any of his neighbors. Lana said it, just because it was the most common pleasantry sentence.

"No need to hesitate like that, we know you must be very busy. The house has long been abandoned. I'm surprised they sold it in such a condition"

Joan takes Lana's pleasantries very seriously. He felt a little guilty.

"I don't think that's a good thing, I wouldn't be able to afford it if the house was in good shape" Without thinking Lana answered Joan's statement honestly.

"Hmm. that's right, but now you have to spend a lot of money on repairs" Erich spread his hand towards the house.

"I'm quite satisfied with the state of this house, the inside is not too bad" explained Lana. Aubrey took good care of the house.

"I can't remember when this house was last inhabited, because it's been so long. I'm happy because I finally have a close neighbor"

Joan patted Lana happily while looking at her with sparkling eyes,

Lana subconsciously returned that friendly smile sincerely. No one has smiled at him for a long time.

"Would we go home to Joan, Solana's still very busy. We'll be back when you finish cleaning up the house"

"Lana, just Lana-please" Lana doesn't really like it if someone calls her full name.

"Alright Lana. Excuse me first. Remember to ask us for help if you encounter any difficulties. Living in a foreign land like Grindelwald will not be easy for you. You're from America"

Joan patted Lana's back softly and said goodbye.

"How did you know?" Lana asked in surprise. He was chatting in perfect German from now on.

Joan chuckles amusedly.

"Lana, Grindelwald is a very small village. Every villager knew about your arrival about a week ago. Newcomers are sweet entertainment for bored villagers" he said, continuing to laugh crisply.

Lana could only smile wryly in response to the news. He usually comes to a city quietly and leaves with lightning speed. Being the center of attention makes it uncomfortable.

"Don't care about citizen gossip, Lana. Be ordinary and you'll be fine" Erich gave him a cheer before following Joan out of the yard.

Lana returned their wave, and waited until they were nowhere to be seen before wearying themselves on the grass.

Socializing makes him more tired than cleaning this house all day.

If calculated with certainty, for the last ten years, he spoke more to ghosts than to humans.

Lana was worried again, Joan and Erich were very good.

He felt to be a very evil person for having to refuse their hospitality after today. But he can't put them at risk if their relationship becomes close later.

He planned to stay in the village for a long time, but he never planned to have any relationship with anyone.

The village is very peaceful, but Lana must remain vigilant. His negligence could mean an innocent life would be lost.

Being the center of gossip in Grindelwald was not as bad as Lana's shadow, she could still freely roam the village without anyone pointing at her curiously.

Because as Lana had imagined before coming here, Grindelwald was actually a busy tourist village.

Many foreign tourists roam the streets of the village.

His presence is not too conspicuous on the streets. He will only be recognized when buying food to fill the refrigerator or when buying some plant pots to decorate the terrace. Tourists will not buy such items.

The shopkeepers easily identified Lana, and they were usually busy introducing themselves.

And all of that, still doesn't make Lana's ability to socialize better. He was still as awkward as usual.

But for some reason, he felt that the villagers did not care much about his indifference. For almost a month he lived there and he could still hear the friendly greetings of the shopkeepers whenever he passed by.

A very rare greeting he answered.

Worst of all were Joan and Erich, who easily ignored Lana's cold attitude.

Without getting tired, Joan visited her house almost every week, just to say hello, give her a pile of vegetables or deliver food.

And as usual, Lana gets a job at the restaurant, which this time is named Melina.

The restaurant was not very big, but it was always full and crowded. The owner is named Mr. Meier, is a fifty-year-old man who is firm but friendly to customers. And he was bigger than Erich.

He was happy when Lana came to apply for a job with him. Mr. Meier has always felt a lack of manpower, as many of the younger generation in Grindelwald prefer to go to town.

The presence of young blood like Lana will liven up the atmosphere inside the restaurant he said.

Mr. Meier actually wants to put Lana in the waitress section, but Lana refuses.

Pramusaji means he has to meet and chat with many people. That was the thing he avoided the most.

The crowd of restaurants will let him off guard. Lana becomes difficult to distinguish living humans from the dead, if they have mixed in a crowded crowd.

Maybe he was again considered a crazy person, because he asked about the desired food menu on an empty chair.

Finally as usual, Lana works as a brute force.

The responsibility is to clean the kitchen before all the chefs come, wash the dishes and glasses of former customers and wash all the dirty kitchen utensils before he finally goes home.

The work is heavy and requires a lot of energy. But Lana doesn't mind, it's a job she always does.

His job promises to be busy all day, Lana will not have time to get along with her co-workers. And it's in line with what he wants.

He returned to being a robot, and fused his entire focus to work.

The chef and sous chef who works in the kitchen Melina is a male. And of course they were as busy as he was. There was hardly any meaningful conversation going on between them.

Most often the form of communication that takes place between them is a delinquent, seductive suit that comes from Petra.

Petra is a sous chef hired by Mr. Meier of Bern.

He was about thirty years old. Petra had only been working at Melina for less than a year. And from the rumors that Lana overheard accidentally, Petra was actually irritated because her position here was only as a sous chef, she wanted the position of Chef, but unfortunately Mr. Meier trusts Marco more, even though he is younger than Petra.

Marco may not be a high school graduate like Petra, but Lana admits his cooking skills are great.

He had tasted some of his dishes served at the employee's lunch, and he immediately understood why Mr. Meier kept him as executive chef.

After all Marco has a wife and children living in Grindelwald, he will not just leave.

For a restaurant it is important, because they must maintain the consistency of the taste of the cuisine. The new chef can change everything that has been going well all this time.

The dishes Marco makes for guests are also delicious. Lana found out because she had tasted some leftovers in the kitchen she had brought home.

Lana no longer needs to save all her money, but she is still careful in spending her money on food.

He does not limit eating as before and still buy some fresh food, but that does not mean he just spends all his money.

Lana's instincts are always wary, making it can not just change habits. So sometimes he still brings the leftover food home. Lana doesn't know when she'll need the money anymore, so Lana decides to stay frugal.

In addition to the interference from Petra who was easily ignored, Melina's atmosphere was in accordance with what Lana wanted.

It's working till night, and Lana gets scared the first time she gets home at night.

But once again Grindelwald was really a comfortable place. The ghosts that roam the streets and the buildings he lived in were almost as normal as Aubrey. Such a spirit would cause no trouble for Lana.

During a month in Grindelwald, Lana saw only two ghosts that made her shudder, namely in a corner of the street near the fresh food market, and also the ghost that is in the clock tower in the center of the city.

The ghost on the street was clearly the victim of an accident. Lana could see the wound on her head gaping wide, under the dim light of the street lamp. Guided, Lana does not have to go through that road often.

And once again Lana was amazed by the fact that there was only one ghost on the streets of Grindelwald.

The streets of the city where he lived all this time, always presented a ghost parade at nightfall which came from the many victims died from traffic accidents.

But then he was no longer surprised, because the number of cars passing by on the village road was very small.

Most tourists of course prefer to walk to enjoy the view of the Eiger mountain, because it is for their convenience, the Swiss government deliberately limits the number of roads that can be traversed by cars.

Instead, the government provides bicycles that can be used for free by anyone. Lana can easily find a bicycle parking lot lined up on several street corners.

When she found out about all that, Lana's heart grew happier. He no longer needs to spend hours just to find a safe walking route that is free of ghosts.

For the ghost in the clock tower, it was a suicide ghost. He had seen this type of spirit several times before. And still not used to it. Such a type of ghost always horrified him more than any other spirit.

The ghost of the clock tower, made her scream in fear, as it suddenly fell through her body, as Lana passed right under the tower. Lana fell in a lunge as the ghostly figure smashed into the surface of the rock in front of her.

It took a few seconds before Lana realized that the people around the tower were looking at her instead of a bloody figure with a broken head lying near her feet.

Lana apologized immediately, as some people deftly helped her up. He refused several offers to take her to the hospital. The people around him thought Lana was screaming in pain.

While in front of her eyes, Lana saw how the bloody figure with the shattered body and head was slowly rising up, and dragging her broken leg up the stairs.

He will repeat his death for the umpteenth time. The hallmark of the ghost of suicide is, they will repeat the moment of death continuously.

With lightning fast Lana left the place, she did not want to see the terrifying scene for the second time.

After that day, Lana avoids the road around the clock tower. He chose a more distant but safe route home.

During the day he left for Melina, Lana also chose another path. He knew it was ridiculous, but the ghostly shadow made him shudder.

Lana can only see spirits at night. During the day, spirits will usually 'sleep'. Hans used the term to describe it.

But ghosts don't fall asleep like humans, they themselves don't realize how they do it. Daytime felt like a blink of an eye to them, and when it opened its eyes, night had returned.

It's always like that. Until their sense of attachment to the mortal world is satisfied.

When the desire or curiosity that becomes their burden is finished, usually ghosts will just disappear.

Or Lana would rather call the event a 'discharge'.

Lana does not know and does not want to know what happened to the ghosts after the release event. It's none of his business, and he doesn't want to fill his head with things he doesn't know.

Lana has helped some ghosts to escape their attachment to the world, by doing some things that make their worries disappear.

The first ghost he helped was Hans.

Hans has a desire to continue to see his daughter grow up. But unfortunately, Hans' ex-wife takes her daughter away when she remarries.

All the habits he was doing right now were the result of his lessons with Hans.

Therefore, with all his might he tried to find his daughter. It was Lana's gratitude to Hans. He could not see Hans continuing to be tormented waiting for his daughter to reappear.

After struggling to find her daughter's address, Lana gets a surprise because Hans' daughter is almost seventy years old.

The Hans form he had seen all this time was still very young. Hans had been dead a lot longer than Lana thought.

Of course, Hans' daughter doesn't just trust Lana and follow her. Even her entire family accused Lana of being a fraud.

But Lana did not give up, slowly Lana recounted her entire childhood, as Hans had told her many times.

The story details and Lana's serious face finally paid off. Princess Hans agrees to go with Lana to her apartment.

That haru meeting of course can only be seen by Lana. But Hans' daughter finally understood the situation was real.

He saw how Lana's tears were rushing while continuing to say the longing word from Hans delivered through Lana.

That day Hans 'went' from Lana's room.

Lana and daughter Hans cried together when it happened. Hans is a very valuable friend to Lana. It was he who taught Lana about everything she knows today.

He taught Lana how to hear ghost whispers better.

Before that, Lana could only hear whispers and growls that meant nothing. It was Hans who made it more audacious to listen to the voice of the dead that filled his ears.

After Hans, Lana helps some other ghosts. Most of them are ghosts that inhabit his rental room.

Lana was now a little surprised, Aubrey and Barnabas never once mentioned what they wanted to Lana.

Though they know for sure Lana can work so that her wishes can be achieved.
