Emma POV.
"Darling, you can come with me for a minute." Colin suddenly called when I just got back from work that night.
"Where are you?"
"Follow it, it's important. I'm downstairs."
It's 9 o'clock, I told him I have a job today. He wants us where we really are.
"Where are we going?"
"Pair your seatbelt." He was running the car while I was installing the seatbelt. "You asked me what I did with the photo you got. I pitted Dench and Lucchese, and now they seem to believe that Dench sacrificed Cohen and them...." He told me what he was doing. A well thought out plan. But why were they consumed by that provocation.
"You remember two days ago I asked you to make a DEA parking vehicle near Dench's office, it seems they believed in that."
"Now it seems that they went to finish off Dench. I hired people to follow Dench for a few days, he said that around Dench there were people watching him. And he was kidnapped by a group of people when he was coming home from his office."
"Then?!"
"Let's go. I haven't got any more news. But we're gonna follow the GPS." I saw the GPS guide on his phone screen, we headed out of town.
A thought came to my mind. If a drug kingpin kills his enemy what do they do? Intravenous overdose, shot?
A phone call came shortly after we walked.
"Sir seems to be throwing his car away in an abandoned house just outside the city, a little far from the main street. You want me to follow him? Most likely he would have been buried. I don't know if I'm watching from afar, the car just left."
"You want to follow him?"
"No. I'm going home ...I don't want to know what happened to him. I let him pay, what happened to him for his own actions.I don't want to know..." I just wish I could take him to jail but it turns out that more happened. Suddenly I was afraid that I would have to decide on life and death.
"You sure? I thought you'd see what happened."
"Yes, I don't want to know, get the guy back."
"All right."
I was silent for a moment when we returned. The discomfort of imagining what was happening there loomed over me.
"Why do I think you want to know what happened to him."
"Either it feels like it's causing someone's death, but at the same time I hope he's paying for it."
"That's called you still have a conscience, you haven't crossed the line. Didn't we?"
I can't answer that. Maybe true, whereas before I wanted to see Dench wretched, but once given the possibility of deciding his life died I did not want to be involved at all.
"Is he going to die?"
"Hmm.the probability is great. We will also know what happened. Whatever happens isn't your fault either."
"Why do they immediately believe it seems so easy."
"So, they probably suspected Dench in the first place, what I did only made them believe, I guess. I don't know. People like that are very sensitive to trust issues I guess. After all they must be afraid that their involvement could be leaked by Dench to the DEA."
I sat thinking with all sorts of thoughts in my head.
"Don't think about it, it's at her own risk of being involved with such a person."
"Recommend him alone..."
I watched the news of what happened the next day. Nothing, until three days later. A news story is on my phone.
...'Hans Dench's lawyer Heron was found burned in his own car in an area without occupants.'...
He was actually killed. The person who made me obsessed with going down this path is over. My promise is paid off.
One day I wasn't focused on working. I don't know why he was killed, I thought I'd be happy but I was mediocre. Think about what happened. I finally called Auntie.
"Auntie, that son of a bitch Dench has been killed."
"really? Because what..."
"He was murdered by an Italian drug dealer."
"That's great, he paid the price that the harvest applied to him, so you don't have to take care of Dench anymore. Continue your life. Get married, go to London with Colin."
"Auntie.you haven't told me to leave yet."
"Then what are you waiting here, you are offered a job there, you are offered a comfortable home and family. Colin was that good to you. Your father doesn't want you to continue this matter for a long time. Forget all this Emma. Go and take care of your life. You did it all as her daughter, . Now she just asks you to be happy and no longer remember the past...Youunderstand. This aunt is a parent so you understand 100% of your father's wishes."
"Yes Aunt, I understand. I'll think about it."
"Don't think about it, just do it." He was nagging, I was laughing. This dear aunt, she always nagged me, even though I realized she had no bad intentions at all.
"Yes well Auntie. I just want to talk to you."
"Forget it all, it's over Emma. You don't bear any more burden."
"Yes Auntie." I'm pensive. Maybe I'm not happy because you don't want me to pursue this. Or because I didn't expect this, expecting him to die just like that. Without me giving you a final message. Cover for everything.
