The Quran Reading Test

Zayn looked back at the food in front of him and just stirred up the food without trying it even though his stomach was very hungry.

"Never let the food go unchecked or silenced, In fact, even though it has been heard, it is better to eat first you know," said Ustadz Adnan.

Zayn looked back at Ustadz Adnan who was still patiently accompanying him even though the other students had already left the dining room.

"From Anas, Nabi SAW said, “If dinner has been served and Iqamah prayer is proclaimed, first of all dinner.” (CHR. Bukhari and Muslim).

This is also stated in the following hadith:

“When dinner has been served and prayers have been upheld, start with dinner and do not rush (go to prayer) until your meal is done.” (Muttafaqun ‘alaih) It is so that we can eat and drink calmly and not think of food because of an empty stomach when performing prayers."

"Is that the case for this pesantren?"

Ustadz Andan was slightly stunned by Zayn's question.

Then Ustad Adnan took a deep breath.

"That happens, but it should be avoided, so hurry up and immediately prepare to pray Isya, congregate in the mosque" said Ustadz Adnan as he rose from his seat.

Zayn saw the departure of Ustadz Adnan and tried the food.

Zayn was slightly surprised by the taste of the food once it reached his tongue.

Then to make sure again, Zayn again ate it and again felt the same thing, until repeatedly Zayn ate the food he saw was not tasty.

"Why does the food taste so good even if it's just like this?" inner Zayn who then finished his meal.

After performing the prayer of Isya congregation, time santri entered into the class naji qur'annya each. This class is divided into various classes such as classes for memorizing the qur'an, Classes for smoothing the qur'an tajwid, Classes for reading the qur'an.

This qur'an class is divided according to the quality of santri in reading the qur'an, while Zayn who just entered the test first by Ustadz Adnan to find out the class that suits him.

Now Zayn is back to face Ustadz Adnan in his office.

The tense feeling that is usually felt by new students, No Zayn felt because Zayn did not care if he was removed from the pesantren though.

"Please begin" said Ustadz Adnan, giving him the Qur'an.

Zayn took it and began to open the scriptures that he did not open for how long.

"Open Surat Al Mujid is and read with the correct tajwid."

Zayn followed and searched for the verse.

After finding it, Without waiting for another command, Zayn began to read it. But it was not until Verse 11 that Ustadz Adnan stopped him.

"Repeat in Verse 11."

Withstanding his annoyance Zayn repeated Verse 11.

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِذَا قِيْلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوْا فِى الْمَجٰلِسِ فَافْسَحُوْا يَفْسَحِ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْۚ وَاِذَا قِيْلَ انْشُزُوْا فَانْشُزُوْا يَرْفَعِ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مِنْكُمْۙ وَالَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجٰتٍۗ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِيْرٌ - ١١

"Now read the meaning."

"O you who believe! When it is said to you, "Let the field be in the assemblies, and make it clear, Allah will give you space. And when it says, "Stand up," then stand up, Allah will lift up (degrees) those who believe among you and those who are given some degree of knowledge. And Allah is All-Aware of what ye do."

"In the section ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ which means Allah will exalt those who believe among you and those who are given some degree of knowledge.

"Do you want to continue?" asked Zayn who seemed to not care about what Ustadz Adnan explained

Ustadz Andan shook his head.

"Tomorrow to enter the Tajwid class."

"What does Ustadz think my Qur'an reading isn't true?"

"You are good at reading the Qur'an but your tajwid reading has much to justify."

Zayn was silent to hear it.

"Now rest, do not sleep too late to be able to perform tahajud prayers."

"Do you have to?"

"It's highly recommended, so get used to it from tonight."

Zayn got up from his seat in annoyance.

Then he returned to the dormitory which still looked lonely, Because the others had not finished teaching.

Zayn laid his body on the bottom mattress, staring at the mattress on it. He who used to sleep in a large bed must bend the knee because his height is not comparable to the mattress available there.

Zayn closed his eyes in light of his free and joyful glamorous life, Far from what He is now living.

Then He began to think how to re-create trouble so that He would be freed from the holy prison.

In a third of the night, Zayn would not wake up at the command of Ustadz Adnan. He remained asleep despite being awakened many times by other students . Even the other santri to drag him from the bed Zayn still stared motionless.

"Ni what kind of a dead man is he?"

"Most sins."

"Ndableg is sure."

"Clamite."

Various swear words for Zayn to drag his body to the floor, Can't make Zayn react and still pretend to sleep do not care about Them.

"What's the matter, why haven't you prayed?" asked Ustadz Azmi who came to check."

"This is Tadz again waking up the new boy who asked for mercy."

"You woke up one man but the crowds did not pray, Leave Him and perform your prayers, Let Me handle."

"Both Tadz." the santri left Zayn lying on the floor.

Once in a sense of loneliness, Zayn opened his eyes and moved to sit while carving a smile because he managed to escape the tahajud prayer that is recommended. But his smile came to a halt as he looked at Ustadz Azmi who was still standing in front of the door staring at him.

Ustadz Azmi took a breath and shook her head.
