Dungeon Hunter
Chapter 59's

New Eder (2)

Eder fought against the five Coal that surrounded him.

He recklessly swung his fists, and every time Coal approached, he would try to rip his shell from his body.

Eder was attacked by Gubaras who rolled here and there.

With the curse of Rusty Sword active, Eder continued to struggle barehanded against Gubaras.

They said that the level was like a bully; Eder highlighted this fact by killing one or two Coal at once with his bare hands.

"Hoo, how? The effects of Cursed Ground's Domain are incredible, aren't they?" ask Eder.

"You're trying to make me laugh, aren't you?"

"No."

"Then why are you fighting empty-handed?" Kang Oh asked, his expression dark.

"I have no weapons, so I have no choice but to fight bare-handed," Eder replied, as if saying 'What's the problem?'.

"If you don't have it, then you can conjure it up, like a bone blade or a spear!"

"I can't use my bone magic as freely as before. This body has no affinity for it."

If Eder can use it, he will. With a bone knife in hand, he could definitely kill the Coal faster.

"So you can't use it at all?" Kang Oh asked, his voice softer than before.

"I can, but it takes a long time to throw it."

"That means you really can't use it anymore."

"Yes." Yeah."

"Then you should at least buy a weapon before coming! You said you were a 'Knight' Curse!" Kang Oh said, emphasizing the word 'knight'.

What kind of knight fights empty-handed!?

"I don't have any money" Eder said proudly.

"You have money. You got a lot of money in your personal safe."

"Then can I use some of your quest rewards for myself?"

If Kang Oh completes Eder's quest, then Eder will have to pay him 4,000 gold.

The entire amount was kept inside his personal safe.

"You have to keep other money somewhere aside from what's in your personal safe. Use it to buy some equipment."

Just leave my money in its place!

"I don't have any more money."

"You didn't...? Why?"

When he went to Eder's private vault, it seemed like he had over 5,000 gold. So why did he say he didn't have any more money!?

"I used everything for the items and materials needed to remodel this body."

"Thank you?" Kang Oh asked in disbelief.

"Really," Eder looked right into his eyes and said.

"Are you taking a portion of my 4,000 gold ..."

"No."

"So you mean you can't even afford a gun?"

"Yes. I'm poor."

"Then you have to sell your house or something."

Eder still has his house. It was not a place where someone as poor as him should live.

"I told you before. It was a house possessed by ghosts, so it would not be sold for a reasonable price. And if I sell it, where will I stay?"

Eder is still an undead monster. To live in a city as big as Altein, he needed enough protection.

"Yes."

"Well, I knew this day was coming. Because I just spend money without making anything."

Eder smiled sadly.

"But I'm satisfied at least I have a body that resembles a human."

It's been a long time since Eder was in the human body. Although to others, they thought he was a patient with gray skin.

Still, he has come a long way.

It seemed like he had moved from one room to a 2-storey separate house.

However, Kang Oh thought differently. How can you not spend money while you are still alive !? Especially on equipment!

"I'll lend you some."

He didn't add the 'part with a very high interest rate'.

"I'm doing fine. Even if you lend me money, I can't pay you back."

Eder would never borrow money from Kang Oh.

"I'd rather ask the loan shark than ask him."

He knows Kang Oh very well.

"What do you mean you can't pay it back! You can only make money ..." Kang Oh began to explain, but quickly closed his mouth.

He makes Eder work like a dog without decent compensation, so how does Eder make money?

Not only that, Eder was an undead, so he couldn't get a job anywhere. Even if he did, it would be a problem. Because he won't be able to use it when he needs it.

Kang Oh was deep in thought.

Eder is stronger and more useful than ever. Especially with his Cursed Land Domain, which had many uses.

But that's only half the picture.

He was a knight with empty hands!

'That means I have to buy him equipment or provide it for him in other ways...'

Kang Oh did not want to use his own gold to buy him equipment.

He was stingy enough that he never bought any equipment for himself, so why would he buy Eder?

“Then let's do it like this. Whatever usable equipment we find, I will give you, except the most expensive,” said Kang Oh.

"All right," Eder agreed.

"Use this for now."

Kang Oh handed Arumode's shield from his inventory.

"I'll use it well."

Eder received the shield and equipped it without delay.

"Oh, right. Grano came and said he was ready."

Eder reveals why she came to look for Kang Oh.

"He came in person?"

"Yes. He has finished his rain-making device, so he wants us to leave for the Baritone Desert immediately."

"alright. Then let's go back."

That's what he wanted.

"okay."

Kang Oh and Eder leave the abandoned mine and return to Eder's house.

"You're here."

Grano was waiting for them inside Eder's house.

"Ah yes."

Kang Oh looked around Grano.

"I don't see your rain-making device. Is it in the magic tower?" Kang Oh asked.

"There's in my subspace. It's a complicated piece of equipment, so it should be handled with care" Grano smiled and said.

"Then can we leave for the Baritone Desert?"

"Yes. I'm ready to go."

"Then let's go ..." Kang Oh stop.

It was because he saw Eder, whose only equipment was a shield.

“There's something I have to do before we go. Let's meet again here in an hour,” said Kang Oh.

"I understand. I'll wait here, so do whatever you need to do and get back here. And, Mr. Eder..."

He had already greeted Eder before when he first came, and had discussed various topics over tea.

Aside from his gray skin, Eder looks like a human, so Grano has no idea that he is actually an undead.

"Yes?"

"May I read some books in your workspace?"

"Of course."

"Thank you."

Grano headed for the study room with a relaxed expression.

She had already seen the study room while waiting for Kang Oh, so she didn't need anyone to guide her there.

"Follow me," Kang Oh looked at Eder and said.

"Where are we going?"

"To the auction house."

* * *

An hour later.

Kang Oh and Eder return to the mansion.

"You came exactly ..."

Grano, who was waiting in the living room, stopped and looked at Eder once more.

However, he looks very different from head to toe.

"Master Eder has changed a little."

He's correct.

"Really?" Kang Oh agreed.

'Indeed. He was no longer a knight with bare hands!'

He slowly checked Eder.

First, he was wearing blood-red armor.

It was an A rank armor set called the Cursed Blood Knight set.

However, it would reduce the stats of the fixture, as its name implies as a 'cursed' fixture'.

But since Eder was an undead, it actually increased his stats.

Also, there are two bonus sets to complete the armor set.

First, any opponent within a 10-meter radius of the fixture will be lowered in defense and resistance.

Second, when attacking, he would absorb a small portion of his opponent's HP and MP.

He had replaced Arumode's rough and heavy shield with another.

It was a circular shield that looked smaller, thinner, and lighter. There were four skulls attached to the middle of the shield.

The Cursed Monstrous Skull Shield!

The 'cursed' series actually increased Eder's stats.

Each time he blocked the attack with a shield, one of the four skulls (each containing a different curse) would attack the attacker with a curse.

Lastly, a blunt weapon in Eder's right hand!

It had a silver handle attached to an object like a ball the size of a melon.

There were sharp spikes attached to the ball like hedgehogs.

Plus, there are a few holes in the ball that give off green gas.

Jakma Gada!

It was a weapon that kept releasing poisonous gas. So, it was a weapon that not only damaged the enemy, but also its own users.

'But the poison doesn't affect Eder.'

In addition to a few, most poisons don't work on Eder.

In other words, the poisonous gas had little effect on Eder.

Kang Oh looked at Eder and smiled satisfiedly.

'All that stuff is so cheap.'

Each Eder piece of equipment had one or two flaws for the player. Therefore, he could buy it at a cheap price.

Plus, he didn't give it to Eder for free.

"Eder, make sure to return the equipment to me when we get better."

Kang Oh plans to sell the equipment again later.

"I understand."

Eder had no complaints. Whatever the case, he got it for free.

"Ehem. Are you ready now?"

Grano coughed and caught everyone's attention.

“Yes. We are all ready,” said Kang Oh.

Eder nodded his head, indicating that he was ready.

"Then let me give you an outline of our trip to the Baritone Desert" Grano said.

"We, of course, will take a detour to the two dungeons you mentioned, right?"

Kang Oh checks if Grano will keep his promise.

"Of course."

"Please."

"First, the rain-making apparatus is divided into two parts. A device that collects water and that turns that water into clouds" Grano began.

"Both devices are connected through spatial magic, so water can be sent immediately, regardless of distance. Therefore, we must prepare a device that collects water in an area that has a lot of water."

"Where do you plan to set it up?"

Kang Oh asked, and Grano immediately replied, "Sea."

* * *

The Arth continent is vast.

At the northern end, it was a fantastic land of ice, and the southern end was called the Great Forest, or Sea of Trees.

The center of the continent was a rich land filled with countless forests and mountains, as well as rivers and plains. There are also some cities like Altein.

The western part consists of endless grasslands. Beyond that lay the Bordered Land of Hell, Despia, or so they say.

To the east, there are several desert areas and abandoned lands that originate from the Baritone Desert.

If one went further east, they would find themselves behind the continent, or the vast Phamas Mountains.

The sea and beaches lie outside the Phamas Mountains, as well as the thriving port city.

The Port of Citin provides half of the continent's seafood and is the continent's largest port city.

Kang Oh, Eder, and Grano were enveloped in rainbow light pillars and arrived at the gate of Citin Port.

He walked out of the magic circle.

"Md. The smell of the sea."

The smell of seafood that characterizes the port city is carried by the sea breeze and seeps into his nose.

"It's your first time in Citin, right?" Grano asked.

"Yes, this is my first time here."

"Yes." Yeah."

Kang Oh and Eder answered.

"It's been a long time since the last time I was here by myself."

Grano stopped as if reminiscing and gazed at Citin Port.

"Mr Grano. You can always appreciate the view once we're done with our work."

Instead of saying, 'We don't have time to waste here', he left in a polite manner.

"Indeed. Please follow me."

Grano seemed familiar with Citin Port's messy and complicated layout, as he led Kang Oh and Eder with no problems.

They stopped in front of a blue-roofed house.

"Sir Bobo! I'm here."

Grano knocked on the door.

The door opened, revealing an old but strong white-haired sailor.

"You're coming" Bobo looked at Grano and said.

Considering how they talked to each other, it seemed like he knew why they had come.

"Can we get on the boat? That's the only way we can get to the island today."

"Everything is ready. Do you want to leave immediately?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Bobo came out wearing thick clothes. He then took them to one of the remote docks of Citin Harbor.

"That's the ship."

Bobo pointed to a medium-sized ship. There was a name written on the side of the ship.

"Aoa."

"That means dolphin."

As soon as Kang Oh read the name of his ship, Bobo explained the meaning behind it.

"That's a good name" said Eder.

"Now, be careful and get on the ship."

Kang Oh gets on the ship first, while Grano climbs last.

"We're leaving."

Bobo skillfully untied the rope that held the ship at the dock and raised the anchor.

Then, he raised the sail and they immediately carried the wind into the sea.

Kang Oh, Eder, and Grano stood on one side of the ship and peered into the horizon.

"How long will it take for us to reach the island you're talking about?" Kang Oh asked Grano.

The island they were heading to did not even have a name.

Of course, it was not just any island. It was supposed to be the island where Grano found the hidden dungeon.

That's why Kang Oh followed her here.

If there were no hidden dungeons here, then Kang Oh would have already headed for the Baritone Desert first.

He would probably do the Adventurers Guild's mission to kill the Sandurions as well.

"It's going to take quite a while" Grano said as he looked towards the sea.

"By the way, why are you trying to make it rain in the desert?"

Kang Oh asked purely out of curiosity.

Grano smiled.

"My mom ..?" maybe?"
