High Risk, High Reward
"Golem, yes ..."
The core of the golem serves as both a source of strength and weakness and is confined within rocks, mud, bones, etc.
Kang Oh has fought golems in Arth before.
"What's the trip down memory lane, huh Eder?" Kang Oh said as he glanced at Eder.
He first meets Eder in a hidden dungeon and back then, Eder takes the form of a bone golem and fights against Kang Oh.
"Indeed."
Eder nodded his head.
Once he chose to accompany Kang Oh, he was unable to use the Bone Golem form anymore.
Assuming that shape requires a large amount of bone.
He could not carry so many bones with him and they had also never hunted in an area where there were many bones.
"Have you ever fought a Stone Golem before?"
Kang Oh looked at Grano.
"Yes." Yeah."
"How's that?" Kang Oh asked.
"They're tough. More powerful than you can imagine. I wasn't able to break through his armor and give up halfway."
Grano had fought against Stone Golems before and retreated from exhaustion. No matter what he tried, he could not pierce through the Stone Golem's body.
That's how hard and strong it is.
"How strong is the attack?"
Kang Oh repeatedly asked questions to get the information he wanted.
"It's strong, but it's slow."
"Does it have any special abilities or skills?"
"Sometimes he throws stones at me. I'm not sure if he has any other abilities."
"Is there anything else you can warn us about, or is there anything else you need to tell us?" Kang Oh asked.
"No."
Grano shook his head.
"I understand. Eder," call Kang Oh.
"Yes?"
"The weakness of the golem must be the point, right?"
Eder is well-versed in golems, as he himself has been a golem in the past.
"Yes. The core is everything to the golem."
"alright. Apparently, the golem defense is no joke, so stop everything."
Eder is the Knight of the Curse!
He can cast a curse that reduces the enemy's defenses by half, Ruined Ramparts. Not only that, he could also cast a myriad of other curses that would reduce the opponent's abilities as well.
Moreover, his Blood Knight set could also reduce the defense of the golem.
Therefore, Kang Oh placed all his hopes on Eder.
"I will do my best," answered Eder, taking the posture of a soldier.
"Mr Grano, if you ever see the core of the golem during a fight, please attack immediately."
"I understand."
"Let's adjust as we go."
After Kang Oh finished, his entourage passed through the entrance: the hole that led to the hidden basement.
Inside the hole it was dark, so Grano went in first.
"Please follow me closely."
Grano pushed the glowing stone forward, lowered his head, and entered.
Eder followed after him, and Kang Oh came in last.
[Entering the hidden dungeon, Wisdom's Testing Ground.]
At first, the Wisdom's Testing Ground was so small that they had to duck in order to get through.
However, the further they progressed, the wider the tunnel became.
Eventually, the ceiling got higher, allowing them to straight their backs without issue, and the tunnel came wide enough that two people could walk through side-by-side.
Plus, there are weren't any monsters.
"I see the end" Eder said.
They saw an exit illuminated with light.
However, there was a tombstone in front of the exit.
"There's something written here too."
Kang Oh pointed at the tombstone.
"It states, 'Courage completes wisdom.'," Grano deciphered.
"If I meet the God of Wisdom, Turu, then I will grab her by the neck and say, 'If you have something to say, just say it.'," said Kang Oh.
That means we have to prove our courage by going up against the golems, because we have already proven our wisdom, Grano expressed his opinion.
"Yes, but wouldn't it be better if he wrote just that?"
"People at the time thought there was something that shone brighter when the meaning was hidden" Grano said.
"Thank you?" Kang Oh asked Eder.
"I don't have an idea."
"Whatchu mean? You're old enough yourself."
Eder had long been a ghost so he was old enough.
"Ehem. I'm not that old."
Eder strongly disagreed, crossing his arms with the X mark.
"I'm sure you are."
"I don't!"
Grano noticed Kang Oh and Eder arguing and smiling.
"Hoo, hoo. Please refrain. We have to focus on the task ahead" Grano said.
"OK," Eder said as he looked at Kang Oh hatefully.
“Let's go,” cried Kang Oh, avoiding Eder's sharp gaze.
Kang Oh's entourage headed towards the brightly lit exit.
* * *
Kang Oh's favorite color, unsurprisingly, is gold. He looked at the ball in the air that was emitting a golden light.
That must be the core of the Stone Golem.
The bottom line is quite large; the diameter is visible over 2 meters.
Kuohs.
The core light begins to intensify, and then the core begins to spin.
Thundering.
The stones scattered on the floor rose and surrounded the core.
Later then...
Kang Oh immediately rushed forward.
"Huh?"
"Mr Kang Oh?"
Eder and Grano looked shocked.
By the time they realized what was going on, Kang Oh was already some distance away from them.
As he dashed forward, Kang Oh prepared to throw his demonic sword.
Purposes.
He clenched his teeth and swung his arms as hard as he could.
A fire!
His pitch-black sword slipped out of his hand.
Zoom in.
His demonic sword split through the air and flew towards its target.
The target? Obviously the core of the golem.
The sword flashed thinly between the rocks.
Bam!
His sword had plugged itself into a floating and radiating core.
Fractions of red light emerged from the affected area. The golden light he emitted began to rise and fall.
Still, the core did not fall to the floor; it remained in the air with the demon sword Kang Oh still embedded in it.
However, the rate at which rocks gathered around him had slowed down.
'This is not destructive enough.'
Kang Oh's eyes sparkled.
Throwing his demonic sword was not enough to destroy its core.
With no other choice, Kang Oh kicked the floor.
"Heup."
Kang Oh jumped once again. He jumped from one stone to another.
He jumped between the rocks again and again until he was ready for his final jump.
"Ohhhhhhh!"
Kang Oh forcefully kicked the floor, jumping into the air.
He headed for the core, which was still pierced by his sword.
Kang Oh stretched out his hand, approaching the handle of the demon sword.
However, gravity pulled him down and he began to fall.
'A little more!'
Handholds.
Kang Oh could barely hold his hand.
"Haaa, huh."
Kang Oh took a breath.
He managed to stop his fall by holding his handle as if he was gripping a tree branch.
However, there were stones coming everywhere. At this rate, he would be destroyed even before he could fight the Stone Golem.
Kuheong!
Kang Oh used the Baramut Roar, filling his entire body with tiger power.
"Eat this!"
Kang Oh pressed his sword hand.
A golden light shimmered from his pitch-black sword.
Storm Tigers!
A tiger-shaped aura was released from the tip of his sword.
Aura immediately pounced on the core.
His strength was quite formidable when there was no distance between him and his enemy. The huge impact caused the core to vibrate.
Fractions of red light burst out from its core.
Finally...!
Cracks. The crack!
Once it starts cracking, it can't be stopped.
The explosion!
Core exploded.
But there was a reason the core was emitting a golden light.
Gold spills out of the core like how a basket opens on Sports Day. There was also a slate inside the golden wave as well.
[You were the first to defeat the Wisdom Guard, the Stone Warrior.]
[It was a boss monster that only dropped one item.]
[It has dropped the Turu Slate.]
Although the system message appeared, Kang Oh did not have time to examine it carefully.
As soon as the point exploded, his sword came out and he was swept away as well.
He's coming down really fast now.
All the more!
Rocks that gathered around the core also fell.
At this rate, Kang Oh would die from falling or being crushed to death.
'I cannot let that happen!'
Kang Oh grabbed his demon sword with both hands.
"Heup."
He thrust his sword into one of the falling stones.
The stone did not stop and continued to fall to the ground.
Crunch!
His sword formed a long '1' on the rock.
At some point, Kang Oh stopped falling and just hung on his sword.
Kang Oh looked around.
He saw the perfect rock to jump over. Kang Oh tightly gripped the handle of his sword with both hands and pulled it out.
Thumping!
Kang Oh bounced off the rock.
Using that power, Kang Oh safely landed on the descending rock.
However, his head was immediately overshadowed by something.
"Damn it," he looked up and cursed.
It just makes sense. The biggest rock so far was descending on the rock he had just incised.
Kang Oh quickly looked around and tried to figure out a way to get out of this situation.
Just then, Kang Oh saw a giant drop of water. It was big enough for him to enter.
"Sir Kang Oh, please enter the water droplets!"
He heard Grano yelling at him.
The shadow began to darken, so he knew he had no time to think about it.
Then...
Thump!
The large boulder had landed on the rock he'd just been on.
* * *
Pop.
The water drop burst and Kang Oh came out completely drenched.
"Hoo, that was a close one."
Grano sigh in relief.
Kang Oh was able to rush into the water drop before he was crushed to death.
After that, Grano had controlled the water drop, moving it outside of the falling rocks and rescuing him.
"Are you alright?" Grano asked's.
"Yes, I'm fine," Kang Oh checked his body once over and replied.
"Why did you do that?" Eder.
He was the one who suggested that they fight together, yet he had driven in by himself.
"Seriously, why did you do that?"
Grano had told them that his boss was the Stone Golem, but when they arrived, the core had opened up and was in the process of transformation.
Kang Oh knew that this was his chance to attack. If the core of the golem was cracked, then he could not move anymore.
However, if he delayed his attack, then he would lose his chance, as the rocks would cover the core completely.
Therefore, he did not have time to explain or convince them of his plan.
He had made a decision and ran away; time was very important, so he threw his sword.
The best-case scenario was the destruction of the core from his sword throw.
However, the point had not really broken, so Kang Oh had no choice but to jump over the rocks.
Then he had just held onto the hilt of his sword and completely destroyed the core.
Plus!
"You can see your enemy changing right in front of you; you won't just sit there and let it finish changing right?"
Whenever the protagonist in a comic book is changed or combined, the villain will always sit there and watch.
Though it was their best chance to kill the protagonist.
Kang Oh is different from those idiots. If he had a golden chance to kill his opponent, then he would not take the question.
"But at least you should tell us first," Eder grumbled.
“If I do, then I will lose the chance. I can barely destroy the point,” said Kang Oh.
"Whatever the case, Mr. Kang Oh survived and the golem has been destroyed, so how about we continue?" Grano placed his hand on Eder's shoulder and said.
"Good."
Eder nodded his head.
"Then, will we go see and see if anyone has fallen?" Grano beamed and said.
Grano intercedes for Kang Oh and Eder so that they do not develop unnecessary hatred towards each other.
"I've already hit the jackpot."
He recalled the golden wave that came out from the core and smirked.
He was aiming for the core alone was clearly dangerous.
But since Kang Oh had taken that risk and destroyed his core, he was able to defeat the extremely formidable Stone Golem with ease.
Especially the sweet gift. He got the jackpot.
'This is what high risk, high reward means!'
