Mummies (1)
Kang Oh opened the stone gate and met a vast rectangular space.
There was a coffin standing along the wall, as well as a mummy completely wrapped in worn-out bandages sleeping inside.
The mummy also holds a crescent-shaped sword.
"One, two, three, four ... There are twenty-one, "count Eder.
"That's his boss and the others look like his minions."
Kang Oh pointed to the coffin in front.
The twenty coffins and mummies inside were the same.
However, the coffin that Kang Oh pointed to was different; it was much larger and more ornate than any other coffin.
The mummy inside looks different.
First, he wore a white hairy turban on his head and held a red sword that lit up with fire.
"It seems so," Grano agreed.
"One mummy boss and twenty mummy henchmen, yeah ..."
Kang Oh smiled.
It's gonna be a fun fight.
"Mr Grano, do you know anything about this boss' mummy?" Kang Oh asked.
"The mummies were probably the guards of Beskamen I."
"His bodyguard?"
"Yes. In the era of the Beskamen Kingdom, when a king died, his guards were buried with him."
"It's totally bullshit."
That means these innocent soldiers were buried alive!
Kang Oh shook his head.
"Indeed," Grano agreed.
Human sacrifice, human trafficking, human experimentation, etc. All of this is strictly forbidden under continental law.
Of course, even if they were not prohibited, they were still something that one person should not do to another.
"After all, there's no record of them anymore, even if we know who they are. Therefore, there's nothing else I can add" Grano said.
"I understand."
Kang Oh devises a plan based on his knowledge of mummies.
“To my knowledge, the mummy has the ability to revive itself,” said Kang Oh.
"Reniving themselves?" ask Eder.
"Yes. If you kill them, they then start to return to their original state."
"Then how do we kill them?"
Because they'll keep coming back if they kill them.
"They can only revive themselves once, so you only need to kill them twice. But here's the kicker; when they come back to life, their abilities improve or they gain special skills."
"I understand."
"Oh, and Eder."
"Yes?"
"Mummies are a kind of undead, so don't use your curse to fight them."
Mummies are undead monsters. Therefore, curses would have the opposite effect on them and instead strengthen them.
"Ehem. I get it."
Eder looked disappointed.
He was a Knight of the Curse, but this time he was forced to just use his skills as a knight.
"Oh and this."
Kang Oh took the bull shield he obtained from Arumode and gave it to Eder.
Back when he gave Eder a four-colored skull shield, he took back the bull shield.
"What is this for?" ask Eder.
"I told you. You can't use a curse. The shield is also not to be used."
Kang Oh pointed to Eder's four-colored skull shield.
"Ah."
When attacked, the four-colored skull shield had a fixed chance of attacking its attacker with one of its four curses.
That would be a barrier for the mummies.
Therefore, Eder swapped the four-colored skull shield with the Graham Bull Shield.
"Oh, heavy."
Compared to the four-colored skull shield, the Graham Bull Shield was not only heavier, but also weaker in terms of capability.
However, that can't help.
"Hm. Looks like we're ready, so let's do this!"
Kang Oh first saw the mummy in the movie.
But now that he had the chance to fight them head-on, he felt like the protagonist of a movie.
'Well, I guess that's why you play games.'
Stamps.
Kang Oh took a step forward.
As he entered the room, the mummies opened their eyes and exited the coffin one or two at a time.
Guohs.
The mummies, having finally woken up from their long slumber, muttered and twisted their necks in circles.
[Captain of the Guard Beskamen I, Amil, has awakened.]
Amil is the boss of a monster wearing a white hairy turban!
As Grano had predicted, Amil and the other mummies were unfortunately part of the guardians of Beskamen I, and were buried with their deceased king.
"Kill.. para... intruder.." orders Amil.
He rarely spoke, his voice was similar to the sound of a broken radio.
"Kill..."
"Kill out."
The mummy repeats the word 'kill' and approaches Kang Oh's party.
The battle against the mummy has begun.
* * *
Initially, the mummy approached them slowly, but then, it suddenly rushed towards them.
Unlike their vague speech, they were extremely fast and agile.
One mummy slashed Kang Oh's neck with his sword.
Instead of dodging him, Kang Oh swung his sword down.
Cut it!
White lines formed following the trajectory of his sword.
However, the mummy was able to do the same.
'Cut?'
Kang Oh was a little surprised. It could use Slash as well.
Clangs!
Swords and swords clashed; mummy lost in a power struggle and her sword slipped out of her hand.
Kang Oh seized the opportunity and thrust his sword into his heart.
Stab!
With a pierced heart, the mummy spilled shards of light, retreated, and fell.
“The mummies could use fighting skills, so be careful,” cried Kang Oh, instead of chasing.
"I know," Eder turned the sword with his staff and said.
He had just blocked the mummy's 'Heart Thrust' with his shield.
Grano was still beyond the range of the mummy's attack, so rather than retaliate, he prepared a spell.
"Kill..."
Several mummies swung their swords towards Kang Oh.
Kang Oh kicked the floor and backed off. Several swords swung where he used to be.
"Hm."
Kang Oh took a breath and glanced at Amil.
Amil only took one step out of his coffin and did nothing but observe the battle.
“He's an observer type,” muttered Kang Oh.
'If he's the observer type, then... Could it be...?'
Kang Oh remembers Spider Queen, Alishi.
Alishi too, is an observer-type boss, but becomes stronger when his minions are killed.
If so, does not the same apply to Amil?
At least that's what he thinks.
"I have to make sure first."
Kang Oh moved once again.
He quickly got among the mummies and swung his sword as if he was a spinning top.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
The mummy could not withstand the impact and rolled onto the floor.
Later then...
Grano followed up with his own attack.
He finished casting and furthermore, six powerful water cannons were fired from his ball.
it's rushing!
Whooshing sound!
Water cannons swept away the fallen mummies.
Those caught inside the water cannon were smashed into the wall.
Guohs.
Those who were not affected by Kang Oh's attack or Grano's attack attacked Grano.
They were not idiots; they tried to defeat the mage first.
"You can't get through!"
Eder stood in front of Grano.
He shoved the mummy with a Heavy Punch and his shield.
Kang Oh uses the opportunity to attack one of the mummies.
Slash, slash, stab, slash!
The mummy blocks Kang Oh's initial attack, but is unable to survive Kang Oh's quick attack.
In the end, his slash pierced through his body.
Slash had left a wound in the middle of his body.
Jab, jab, jab!
Kang Oh thrust his demonic sword repeatedly as if it was piercing.
The tip of his sword touched the wound.
Swish.
Red shards spilled from his body, signaling that he had landed a critical attack, and the mummy fell to the floor.
[You have defeated the guard members of Beskman I.]
A ball of sparkling liquid, resembling a soap bubble, left the mummy's body and flew towards Amil.
The surface of the fall reflected the scene of Kang Oh's attack.
'Could it?'
Kang Oh suddenly remembered something.
In Warlord, there's a giant ant named Calcion.
It was considered the worst raid boss in Warlord history and was widely considered impossible to defeat by the player base.
The reason he was considered the worst raid boss in history was simple.
No matter how the players formed their party, Calcion was able to respond.
In other words, if the attacking team is heavily leaning towards the damage dealer, then Calcion will reflect physical and magical attacks.
Conversely, if the invading team consists of multiple healers, it will spit out gastric juices that reduce healing.
It would be even worse if the attacking team were balanced, as Calcion would then react to everything appropriately.
Therefore, the party failed the raid several times and went crazy over it.
However, a party of five was able to defeat this impenetrable boss.
Kang Oh, of course, was part of the party.
The way they beat Calcion was simple.
Calcion falls asleep inside a cocoon in the inside of the dungeon and will hatch as the player approaches.
In order to reach Calcion, the attacking team would be forced to fight their way through the various ants inside the underground chamber of the Ant Nest.
However, the party he was following had managed to escape the attention of the ants and enter the Calcion room without killing a single ant.
As soon as the intruder had entered his room, the giant ant, Calcion, hatched.
However, Calcion was too weak.
Moreover, it did not respond too much to his party's attacks back then.
To be honest, the Calcion and the ants inside the Ant Nest were connected through a communication network.
Therefore, as the ants battle, their enemy's battle data will be sent to Calcion, and Calcion will adjust his body accordingly to deal with these assailants.
However, his party had attacked him without killing a single ant, thus not allowing Calcion to receive any battle data. Thus, they can lower it easily.
Anyhow!
Amil is similar to Calcion, and the bead that came out of the mummy's body was most likely Kang Oh's battle data.
'If this continues, it will be dangerous for us.'
It felt like a siren ringing in his ear.
The more he, Eder, and Grano drop the mummy, the harder it is to take Amil down.
Fortunately, it looks like Amil will only receive battle data after the death of the mummy, unlike Calcion.
If that is the case ...
"Eder, Mr. Grano. Please stop attacking. You can't kill a mummy!" Kang Oh yelled.
"Excuse me?"
"What are you talking about?"
Grano and Eder looked at him strangely.
"Basically..."
At that moment...
The mummy that died came back to life.
[A member of Beskamen I's bodyguard has come back to life.]
[It's going to Berserk.]
The mummy stood up. A red hue shone from his dry eyes.
'Ramurge!'
Normally, monsters would only go berserk when their HP dropped below 10% and the moment they entered this condition, their strength and speed would increase sharply.
However, the mummy has gone berserk with a relive. Clearly, his HP was 100%!
'If these twenty mummies become Berserk and all the battle data is sent to Amil, then ...'
Kang Oh imagines the worst-case scenario.
In the end, he made his decision.
"Everyone, retreat. Hurry up and get out," cried Kang Oh and started running.
He started running towards the stone gate.
"I'm sorry?"
"Man, why are you doing this?"
Grano and Eder looked at him in great confusion.
"Rurry!" Kang Oh shouted loudly once again.
Then he added, "Retreat. If you do, I'll pay you!"
Due to the prospect of money, Grano and Eder's expressions changed.
'If he is willing to give us money, then the situation must be dire.'
'Indeed. We have to go now.'
Grano and Eder exchanged looks.
Grano formed the Water Wall and then started running with Eder right next to him.
"Heok, heok."
"Haa, alright!"
As they ran with all their might, they were able to escape through the gate.
The mummies chased them all the way to the stone gate, but they did not follow them through.
The mummies watched as Kang Oh's entourage retreated into the distance and returned to their coffins.
“You can stop now,” said Kang Oh.
"Hoo, hoo."
"Yes."
Eder and Grano finally get a chance to catch their breath.
"What's the problem?" Grano asked.
"That's what I said ..."
Kang Oh began to explain everything he learned.
He talked about the Calcion, the beads that came out of the mummified body, the Berserk condition of the mummy at resurrection, as well as the observer-type Amil, who gradually became stronger as the fight progressed.
"I understand."
When he was done, Grano and Eder were able to fully understand where it came from.
"Then what are we going to do now?" Grano asked.
"I have a plan."
There are no invincible monsters!
Kang Oh's eyes sparkled.
