Demon's Nest Hunt (2)
The hunt went well.
Kang Oh hugged the wall and slashed at every tongue Kurima entered. Then, Grano will finish them off with his Water Prison.
Two Kurima died without incident.
But once the monkfish-shaped monsters surrounding Eder began spewing out liquid, the situation became dire.
The liquid was very thick.
Eder was unable to block all the liquid with his shield, so he rolled onto the floor.
Dapple.
The water splashed and Eder was quickly drenched.
Black smoke began to billow from the groundwater as soon as the liquid came into contact with it.
Smoke spread with the wind, towards Eder. Eder protected himself with his shield and retreated.
Hissing!
The smoke slightly touched the shield and hissed as its surface melted.
Eder quickly released himself further.
"This smoke is acidic!" Eder shouted as he realized the surface of the shield was melting.
The wind inside the cave brought smoke to Kang Oh's side next.
Hyper Intuition warned him.
Danger, danger!
'This...?'
Radium tells him that there are monsters in the Devil's Nest that can spit out acidic liquids. It seemed that this monkfish monster was what he meant.
If their acidic liquid hits the water, it turns into smoke that resembles black fog and spreads everywhere.
It, of course, retains its high acidity even when turned into smoke.
"Don't get touched by the smoke!" Shouted Kang Oh while avoiding the fog and moving away.
Monkfish-shaped monsters continued to spew out acidic liquids. If Eder avoids the liquid, it will touch groundwater and become smoke instead.
Black smoke gradually began to fill the hallway.
However, it seemed like the Kurima were completely unaffected by the black fog.
Instead, they actually seemed to urge Kang Oh more fiercely than ever.
Kang Oh hits Kurima's head on the approach.
"Mr Grano. Is there any way to remove the smoke?"
"It's possible to remove the smoke with water magic, but... Considering the fact that it becomes smoke as soon as it hits the water, it might even make things worse."
Grano calmly monitored the situation from behind.
He was well aware of the fact that the acidic liquid became smoke the moment it touched the water.
“Let's try. I will take care of the rest,” Kang Oh said.
Grano nodded his head and immediately began to cast his spell.
The ball was emitting a blue aura.
The explosion!
Tsunami surged from the end of the hallway. The tsunami passed Kang Oh's party and swallowed the black smoke.
Once in contact, not only does it not dissipate the smoke, but instead causes the smoke to spread faster.
The result was that the situation became much worse for the party. The hallway was now filled with smoke.
"I'm afraid this won't work" cried Grano.
"It's okay."
Kang Oh stepped forward. He swung his sword down, his blade trembling with a golden aura.
Storm Tigers!
The roaring tiger-shaped aura shot forward.
The explosion!
Tiger aura pouncing on monkfish monster.
At the same time!
Whooshing sound!
The whip of the strong wind started to rage.
The wind ripped the black smoke.
'As I thought, the wind does work.'
The wind inside the hallway had spread smoke. So, strong winds should be able to do the opposite.
"Mr Grano, is it possible to absorb all the water here?"
His maneuvering only gave them a temporary pause.
The monkfish monster started spewing out acidic liquid once again and black smoke started to rise again.
If that's the case, then they just need to throw away the water. Plus, they happened to have a water witch beside them.
"I have a great idea."
As expected, Grano could control the water and dispose of it.
He stretched out his hand and began to cast a spell. Tears as high as the feet began to recede like tides.
The floor to the hallway was immediately cleaned.
"I've thrown away as much water as I can. I'll keep the ground clean, so in the meantime, take care of the monsters."
"I understand. Eder, keep Kurima busy."
Kang Oh rushed forward.
"Yes sir!"
Eder chanted the Cursed Ground's Domain once again.
Thump! Thump!
He stepped on the ground twice and applied the curses of Ruined Ramparts and Rusty Sword along the passageway.
"Let's go!"
Eder swung his wand at Kurimas.
Kang Oh ran towards the monkfish-shaped monster.
In response, the monkfish monsters spewed their acidic liquid onto Kang Oh.
One of their attacks was fired right in front of his face.
Kang Oh tilted his head.
Acid liquid grazed the side of his face and hit the wall.
Hissing!
The acid melts the walls and gives off a little smoke.
However, the smoke spread as if the ashes were blown away by the wind.
'OK.'
As long as it does not touch water, the acidic liquid is not too dangerous.
Kang Oh grinned and gripped his sword tightly.
He swung his demonic sword down.
Kang Oh is aiming for their only eye. That is their weakness according to Hyper Intuition.
Whirr.
Red shards spilled from his eyes.
Kyaru!
It screamed in pain and in its anger, retorted by swinging its carded leg.
Kang Oh blocked his leg with his sword and immediately counterattacked.
As soon as the sword touched, the monkfish collapsed.
Kang Oh chased them all.
Thumping!
He kicked the monkfish monster into the air and stabbed it.
Stab!
Kang Oh thrust his demonic sword into the mouth of the screaming monkfish.
At that moment, Grano's spell shot towards him. It was a grey ball the size of a baseball.
Magic Ball!
It was not only the most basic spell a magician could learn, but it also lacked elemental affinity.
Since he was busy keeping the water from re-entering the passageway, Grano could only take out the Magic Sphere to help Kang Oh out.
Even if he was able to use water magic here, it was highly likely that he would not.
If he cast a water spell, then it could be disastrous for them as the black smoke would spread everywhere.
After all, the Magic Sphere, which matched the spells of novice magicians, was weak. Instead, Grano uses quantity over quality.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
Kang Oh seized the opportunity, pulled out his sword from the monster's mouth and finished it off.
Cut it!
His demonic sword split open a monkfish-shaped monster.
[You have defeated Tardens.]
Monkfish-shaped monsters are called Tardens.
Kang Oh rushed to the middle of the gathered Tarden.
The five Tardens nearby screamed as if they were angry.
Kyah!
The surrounding Tardens spewed their acid at him.
The acid came flying from all directions.
However, he moved his legs several times and managed to avoid the acid.
It was a combination of Hyper Intuition and its peak evasive ability!
"My turn!"
Kang Oh swung his sword forward, splitting into a wide bow.
Swish! Swish!
Three birds with one stone!
His demonic sword split three Tardens.
Kang Oh attacked with greater ferocity.
Grano too, continuously attacked them with magic balls as if he was bombarding them with missiles.
Like a light drizzle that finally wetted one's clothes, countless magic balls struck the Tardens and gradually weakened them.
Meanwhile, Eder does his best to fulfill his mission.
He fights Kurimas with a combination of blunt weapons and his now proficient shielding skills, as well as his cursed weaponry..
That was why he could face seven Kurima at once. He is a Knight of the Curse.
A few moments later.
Kang Oh has finished off all the Tarden.
It had also killed the other Kurima using a tongue attack, the Water Prison method.
"Mr Grano. If any more Tarden appears, please remove the water for us. And Eder, do what you just did: fight Kurima. After Mr. Grano and I are done with Tarden, we will move to Kurima as well."
Kang Oh told them what their battle plan was.
Eder and Grano nodded.
Kang Oh's entourage passed through the hall once again.
Only Tardens and Kurimas appeared on the first floor of the underground.
Therefore, Kang Oh's entourage was able to advance quickly.
"There are more stairs" Eder shouted.
There was a set of stairs that descended further in front of them.
* * *
The underground 2nd floor was the bottom of the Devil's Nest.
There was a lake here, as well as a gigantic body that filled the lake.
[You have discovered the Sea Disaster, Gurekturon's body.]
The body belongs to Gurekturon!
Gurekturon, said to be a giant sea monster, was cut down by the previous owner of his demon sword, Valan!
Looking at it now, it made sense how it was called a catastrophe.
First, size.
That's a huge one. It looked like the size of ten whales combined. No, maybe ten whales is not enough.
It looked similar to the Tardens, which resembled a monkfish.
Gurekturon's mouth is huge, seemingly able to swallow anything; he also has a large body and rough and uneven skin.
It had fins covered in spines at the ends of both sides, and there were dozens of tentacles protruding from the area of its tail crammed into the lake.
There was a giant lump on his back with several holes in it.
It would be terrifying to face Gurekturon at sea. That was brutal.
However, he was sure it was dead.
Gurekturon's giant body split in half and had an accompanying wound to match that served as evidence of his death.
The sticky black tar-like blood flowed from his wound, and fell into the lake.
[You have seen the traces of the master of 'Divide the Sea'.]
[You already feel such mastery.]
[The weakness in Slash has increased by 20%.]
By just looking at the traces of Divide the Sea, his ability in Slash had increased by 20%.
"Haa. This Valan Man. He's really not a joke."
Kang Oh is amazed by his past demon sword wielder, Valan.
Valan is in a league of his own. What's the right way to say this? He is a character who is ruled like a hero blessed by gods!
'I have to get closer to him, but if I do, it might trouble me.'
Kang Oh is ready to flatter Valan anytime, anywhere.
However, for some reason, he felt that if he got closer to her, Valan would give her a troublesome responsibility.
"Well, I can always meet him first and make a decision later."
Kang Oh decides to delay deciding anything about Valan for now.
"Gurekturon. Gurekturon, huh.." murmured Grano.
Grano came here with them because of his interest in Gurekturon.
Now that he was here, it was time to satisfy his curiosity.
Grano walked closer to the lake to learn more.
Kang Oh and Eder are the only ones left.
"Hoo, that's huge," Eder marveled.
Kang Oh looked at Eder and suddenly thought.
"Hey, why don't you try to possess that body?" Kang Oh asked, his eyes twinkling.
If Eder can have such a big sea monster, then he can ride it and explore the ocean!
Eder shook his head.
"Even though it was a body, it still had a very strong remnant of darkness. If I try to have it, I will most likely be devoured by the darkness right then and there."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. The darkness he emitted from his body was so great that I would rather not approach him," Eder said firmly.
"Stay, you never know, so why don't you try it ..."
"No thanks."
Eder showed an expression that seemed to say, 'Not in your life.'.
He was completely satisfied with his current body. Eder will not have a new body for now.
"All right."
Kang Oh will not kill Eder or let him escape his grasp until he receives the promised 4,000 gold.
At that moment...
"Please come here!"
They heard Grano's voice.
Kang Oh and Eder turned towards Grano's voice.
Grano was inspecting the lake, but a small monster resembling Gurekturon appeared from there.
'Monster boss!'
Kang Oh soon realized what it was.
It must be the Seeds of Disaster spoken of by the queen of Lupenia, Roane.
"Let's go."
There's no time to think about it. Kang Oh's body moved first.
Kang Oh started running towards him with Eder behind him.
Extinguish!
The boss monster opened its mouth.
Five Tarden and Kurima each came out of his mouth.
That's not all of it.
After exorcising the monster, he spread out his 20 tentacles in his tail area.
He then uses the tentacles to attack Grano.
