Father's Status On My Son's Deed

Father's Status On My Son's Deed
123. Devi's weirdness

"Why are you smiling to yourself, Dira?" devi asked who accidentally saw her best friend smile.

"Ti–it's okay, just remembering something funny," replied Dira soberly.

Devi nodded, looking at her best friend whose face was so shining, just like when she was alone. Unlike her who is getting withered more and more. There was a hint of envy present in his heart.

"Dir, are you happy with your marriage?" devi asked who suddenly made Dira look at her best friend.

"Why are you suddenly asking like that?"

"I'm just curious because you know for yourself that you're married because you're forced to."

Dira thought for a moment and said, "Yes, I admit that we were forced to get married, but Mas Hasbi and I have now agreed to start all over again. There is no harm in starting a relationship from a mistake. As long as we want to improve ourselves and try to be a good person."

"Have you loved each other?"

"Why yes ..me and Mas Hasbi have agreed to live it so, love or not let the time answer it. To be sure we both agreed to commit and not hurt each other."

"You've always been lucky from when you were alone, even now you have a husband, very different from me" said Devi lethargicly.

Dira frowned not understanding the meaning of his best friend's words. Like there is meaning behind that sentence.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something strange about what I said?" ask Devi.

"Your sentence sounds strange. Everyone must have their own trials, depending on how we live it so, lucky or not it depends on how we respond. Why do I feel like there's something you've been hiding?"

"Ti–no, I'm fine. What should I hide from you? I am happy with my marriage because I am married to the man I love. What do I need to hide, nothing, right?" Devi let out a discordant laugh after speaking and it sounded strange.

Dira was silent, it was true what Devi said, but somehow her heart said if there was something hidden by her best friend. I don't know if that's what Dira doesn't know.

Their ordered food came, both of them enjoying it quietly. Devi occasionally glanced at Dira who seemed to enjoy the food and was so relaxed. Every now and then the woman smiled, seeing her friend like that made Devi even more envious, very far from her life.

Suddenly Devi's phone in the bag rang, the woman immediately picked it up and it turned out that the in-laws were calling. He was nervous to lift it. However, leaving it alone was also impossible. Inevitably Devi finally shifted the green button.

"Hello, assalamualaikum, Ma."

"Where have you been? Why haven't you come home yet? Didn't you just say goodbye to shopping, why until this hour has not come home too? Soon your husband will be home, lest he be new until the house he does not find you. You know he'll be very angry, '" hardened the in-law across the phone.

"Yes, Ma. I'll be home soon, it's almost done!"

"Hurry home! Just watch until you don't come home." The phone was decided unilaterally. Devi tries to stay in front of Dira, not wanting her best friend to know what really happened.

"Who, Dev?"

"My mother-in-law, she's worried because I haven't been home yet when I said it was just a minute."

"Don't rush, you just finish eating, enjoy not choking. I have to go home as soon as possible, I don't feel good if my in-laws wait and worry. He's a person who likes excessive anxiety so I better just go home."

"Well .. come home! Your food is half eaten."

"It's okay, rather than me worrying my in-laws. Let me call the waiter a minute to ask for the bill." Devi took the bag and put in the cell phone preparing to leave.

"No, let me pay, you go home is okay. Think of it as an apology because I was late."

"Is it okay? I feel bad when I make you."

"Yes, it's okay."

Devi immediately moved from there. Dira Hanta stared at his best friend's back until it was invisible. In her heart she prayed that her best friend would be fine because she felt something was wrong with Devi, but she was also worried because her best friend herself did not want to worry.

"Assalamualaikum" said Dira as he entered the house.

"Waalaikumsalam," said the in-laws who were in the family room. "You just got home, son?"

"Yes, Ma, there was a friend's appointment," replied Dira while kissing the back of Mama Liana's hand.

"Same that Devi?"

Dira nodded, still with a bad feeling because it was until this moment the in-laws did not like the existence of Devi. Not only was the middle-aged woman, Papa Edo was equally unhappy, but they could not force Dira. As long as the son-in-law is fine let it be. However, behind that Mama Liana and Papa Edo are lucky to get a daughter-in-law like Dira.

However, what Devi did was defamatory and completely disrespectful of her. Until this second, Devi also did not apologize to them, in contrast to Dira who had repeatedly apologized and admitted what he had done. Even his parents who did nothing apologized.

"Yes, you take a shower! Hasbi just got home. Maybe he was overtime."

Dira interrupted and passed from there. Once in the room she did not find the whereabouts of the husband. However, you can still hear the sound of water rustling from the bathroom, must be cleaning yourself. Dira also took clothes for her husband and returned to sit on the sofa while leaning his body waiting for the husband to finish.

"You're home, Dir?" scold Hasbi who just finished a shower.

"Yes, Mum."

The man looked at his wife's face. It seems like Dira is thinking something. "So you said you were going to meet a friend, shouldn't you be happy? This why is it so lethargic?"

"Come, Mas. I felt like there was something Devi was hiding. I tried to lure him into telling me what happened, but Devi just squinted and said it was okay."

"Maybe he did not want to tell it because he did not want to be troublesome. Sometimes there is something that should be kept private. Do not interfere too much with the affairs of the household of others, let it be his own business. The woman herself chose her future so, let her feel for herself."

Dira looked at the husband and asked, "What do you mean, Mas? Is there anything bad about Devi's husband? Why do you talk like that?"
